New version uploaded, choose one: Darker or Lighter! The new Darker version works well with other black-out mods now (as dark as it can get without just replacing the texture with a black square), and the original version has been renamed to Lighter and looks better with the vanilla game's darkest colors. Personally, I've been using the Darker version now, since I've been using a lot of other black-out mods.
This is very odd! It's only a retexture mod, the mask model itself isn't edited and shouldn't be disappearing. I've been using it fine and so have others afaik. Are there any other mods either of you have that could be causing this? Hoping you guys figure it out!
It was the same for me, but I found out what the problem is, if you wear a spacesuit and a helmet, then you can't see the mask, when you take it off everything works normally.
Ah yep, spacesuits remove the mask. I created a mod that adds the mask under the helmet. I'm still working on a way to have the mask show when you have the helmet on but on "hide" mode.
Here's a link to have the mask on underneath every helmet: Mask Under Helmet
I found this item outside of Neon. It doesn't change color at all. I found it on The Eye where Vladimir is. Could there be 2 versions of the file where the one I have is not affected?
AFAIK there's only one in the game, but I suppose it's possible there are two versions of it. My last save is at The Eye, I'll check around for it to see if it's the same mask.
I was grabbing the black_fmt_mask folder and dropping it in the texture folder data folder then texture folder. Finally worked for me when I grabbed the outfit_fishworker folder and dropped into my clothes folder.
All you need to do is put the Data folder from this zip file into Documents>My Games>Starfield and make sure you have a StarfieldCustom.ini set up like all of the other retexture mods out there.
The subfolders in the Data folder don't exist in My Games>Starfield unless you have mods that override the vanilla files, so if I'm understanding your issue correctly, that's most likely why you're not seeing the folders to begin with.
for it to be black and not grey outfit_fishworker_01_mask_ao.dds (occlusion map or something) needs to be darker like this https://i.imgur.com/xPLUU1u.png and save it as bcu4 i think
The original version was a dark grey to keep some of the texture in it and looks fairly consistent with the other "black" palette in the vanilla game. BUT I've noticed how much darker some of the other modders have been making their mods that I have installed as well, so I've just added a new version of the mask that's as dark as it can get without just replacing the texture with a black square lol. So this new Darker version works well with other blacked-out mods now, and the original version has been renamed to Lighter and looks better with vanilla game dark colors (imo).
I have to be doing something wrong, but cannot figure it out for the love of Murphy. I created the StarfieldCustom.ini and followed the install instructions. Went into my game and the FMT mask is the default color. I even looked for the black_fmt_mask folder and the outfit_fishworker folder and I cannot find them. I have tried to install this manually and with Vortex and neither time did the mask change color. I did verify my Starfield files to make sure nothing was missing and everything was there. Any thoughts or ideas would be extremely helpful. Thank you.
For Vortex it's the wrong folder structure since you started with the name of the mod and not the data folder...I've fixed it myself but it would be great for others if you fixed this
Updated this just now to be the correct folder structure, thanks for letting me know. I'm not using Vortex, but based on your comment it should be fixed. Thank you!
