    I haven’t verified this for myself, but I saw that there was an update last weekend. I read an article about it this nmorning. Now, with the update we have access to the in-game creations menu with mods. If you bought the premium version of the game, you get 1000 credits towards content. You ALSO get access to the Creation kit, which can now be downloaded. I saw a news story just before I headed to the airport this morning. I didn’t get a chance to download the updates. I’ll do it when I get up to Ontario later today. So happy about this news. Has anyone tried it yet?

    thank you for this mod.  worked perfectly.  with the available presets, i no longer have to spend an hour or more creating an attractive character.  made me excited to start a new playthru.  only problem was, the files would only load when i installed them at steam\starfield\data.  they refused to load from documents\mygames\starfield, even though all my other mods load from there without any problems.

    Thank you soo much for the work you put into making our shared hobby soo much more enjoyable!

    I recently ran into an issue between this mod and the Native Ultrawide Menus (I'm calling it "NUM") mod found here on Nexus.  Vortex reported a conflict between the two forcing the creation of a rule for "which loads first".  This issue disables/hides the "Preset" button/tab added by CharGenMenu regardless of which mod loads before the other (I tried both options).

    My resolution was to disable the UW support mod, load up my preferred preset, customize it and save it.  Then I would close out, re-enable UW support and go back to adventuring.

    I'm not asking for this to be fixed or patched, merely noting the issue for any other readers perhaps troubleshooting possible issues with the Preset button/Tab not showing correctly.

    Works perfect!! (Manual install) Not experiencing any of the errors/problems others have commented about, as of yet (i.e. The CTDs upon using the console command; I've done it several times now, and have had no CTDs on my end.)!!  ♥

    Also, THANK YOU for all the time and hella awesome work you have put into this mod since its release, as well as all your other mods across all the other games you have/are modding, past and present (most notably all your work on Bethesda games)! Hella appreciate ya!!!  \o/ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

    Now go take a much needed rest and relaxation, I know you been heckin' busy fixing things across different games, lol.  ♥

      Yeah, it's good it not CTD for you, really, we're happy for ypu.

      It does CTD for a lot of people. Issue does exist. It likely appears with some certain conditions that probably half of the players meet (certain mods, custom meshes - which I lean to as main culprit and which is critical - etc.).

      Reporting real, critical for mod to even develop further issues is not "bothering the author", he can look into them when he's in the mood/has time to. Sending countless comments with useless information for actual mod situation and cluttering comments/bugs section is.

      While I do acknowledge that a lot of people are having issues with this mod...a lot MORE other people are not. I am NOT invalidating others' problems. Far from it, as I like to help as much as possible, within the limits of my abilities. My apologies if you get triggered by reading about how it works for others. That was/is not my intention. I am MERELY reporting that it works with the new update (1.11.36) and that it works for ME.

      This is how I see things:

      If a mod is installed, with NO OTHER MODS installed but that one (and its dependency of course--SFSE), and it works. Logic dictates that mod is not broken.

      If said mod is installed while various other mods are installed, and the mod in question does not work, then logic dictates that there is another mod causing a conflict with the mod in question (and with more other mods installed at the same time, the chance of mod conflicts is escalated).


      Situation makes me suspect that main issue is custom meshes. Probably Expired didn't take something in account - or - Sesame didn't take something in account when developed .nif export - that cause custom meshes to brake a game.
      (certain mods, custom meshes - which I lean to as main culprit and which is critical - etc.)
      This tells me the mod in question (CharGenMenu) is indeed working as advertised, and a compatibility with a third party factor (i.e. custom meshes) is causing the problem. So you admitted that the mod in question is NOT broken---it simply means CharGenMenu has to accommodate custom meshes via a compatibility patch, or have custom meshes included in its coding.

      Sorry to upset you, but there's at least one more user who has CTD issues on completely vanilla game. If you actually read comments section instead of writing tons of empty, unnecesary and cluttering text - you would notice it.

      for I installed and have to delete finnally my 30 hours game, cause causing error maybe if we have some incopatibilities we need to know after install i tried a lot of time to start cause i love this mod, but everything after i start my new game finally crash and lose some hours of game after, now i finally decide to delete this mod and start a fresh new game, but now we have an update i want to but im scare xD

      SO all of you..before you blame one or another mod for your CTD. you really have to do proper troubleshooting.

      1) Make sure the CTD is replicable. Meaning it repeats doing the same thing; it's triggered by the same conditions or actions

      2) Disable half of your mods (keeping dependencies intact), replicate the conditions. If no CTD then try the other half.

      3) If it CTD's then take that half and half it again. repeat.

      4) You'll get down to 2 or 3 mods that do CTD each time.

      5) That's where you then use sf1edit to look for anything in regards to keywords conflict? if nothing there then you file a damn bug report.

      6) Try different load orders to see if that changes anything.

      This discussion right here is stupid without any constructive data that can help the author pinpoint or diagnose issues. You have to do the work if you use these mods; the mod author doesn't know your load out and you should not expect them to guess or tryout the thousands of different combinations. Don't just print out your mod load order and SFSE installed mods and expect the mod author to have any diagnostics on this.

      So stop with this stupid discussion and do the work if you have an issue and then file a bug report.

      It seems like there's a misunderstanding. I'm not blaming anyone; I'm just sharing my experience maybe you are tryining to blame or insult us i dont understand why you are mad .... but anyway. To clarify, I have tested every mod I use, and the only one causing a crash (Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" at 0x7FF6ACEF9D53 Starfield.exe+0579D53) is this one. I tested it with only this mod installed, and it consistently causes a crash and corrupts my save file, as I mentioned in my previous comment up there in this page. I'm not sure why this is happening, but I wanted to provide this feedback. Thank you for creating this mod.
      I apologize if my comments came across as defensive or critical. My intention was simply to report a potential issue that I might be experiencing alone.

      Sadly, no, the Gamepass version of the game does not work with SFSE. That goes only for the Steam version; the mod needs SFSE to work, therefore "no."

      Some people in the community are working to make SFSE mods compatible with GamePass. Unfortunately this mod is, as of now, incompatible.

    Hey everyone,
    I noticed a strange interaction between All Background Dialogue Unlocked (v 1.3) and CharGenMenu (v 1.0.0.10, SFSE v 0.2.7). Adding more than 3 traits, despite the former mod increasing the limit to 30 (IIRC) causes insta-CTD anytime the looks menu is invoked by the game (tested with Enhance, slm 14, Starborn). The initial looksmenu on Vectera, before trait selection, works fine though. I also tested with only these 2 mods enabled, the crash was repeatable. Finally, I ensured that the background chosen and the associated trait were not selected at the same time, and it still CTD.

    Does CharGenMenu implement a hard limit on the number of traits that can be selected?

    Thanks for update. but by me is still a little problem. i get crashes to desktop when i use "showlooksmenu player 1" in console.

    litlle information update. at the enhance shop all works fine, the presets too

      I believe it is  slm 14 1 instead, part shorthand, and part a correction in Starfield where players may have inadvertently been doubling up certain character traits without realizing by using the base command.

      I don't CTD, but looksmenu just doesn't work. no preset, character won't display, menu tabs lock up, its a mess. not sure if its this mod or another. wasn't happening before the update.

      On latest game version, I can steadily reproduce issue with character that has custom body sliders applied, getting corrupted save after attempt to load a game where he's naked.

      That's been happening to me since release, seems like if you do slm 14 a second time it crashes. Could be many of my other mods installed conflicting.

      Basically I do slm 14, first time is okay. If I do it again soon, it crashes.

      My case, which involves custom body and custom body sliders, does provoke complete save corruption though, not just CTD. This save will CTD an attempt to load it  even after ChargenMenu is disabled.

      For me it CTD every time on a new game. As soon as I wake up and Heller passes me the data tablet the game crashes.

      I'm using MO2

      No console SLM command, pure vanilla new game.

      slm 14 1 or showlooksmenu player 1 won't work because the code in the latest version of this mod doesn't include the updated info for the new Starborn menu. Very well could be the cause of CTDs as well.

      I am not experiencing save corruption with custom morphs. What custom morphs and meshes are you using? Mine are not custom, but I took the original base game morphs and renamed them to something else so that they are stored in my character's morph entry list as something else.

      I use my own body mod - Robert S body. I was able to pretty steadily reproduce save corruption - it appears maybe in 70% of cases when I go slm player 2, play with morph sliders, finish and save a game. Sometimes it loads, but mostly not.

      Corrupted save cannot be loaded neither on game without chargenmenu, without all the mods, and completely clean game (with starfield.exe, so even no SFSE). It appears to be fully broken.

      How did you edit vanilla body sliders/morph with the mod?

      Sure wish I read this earlier. I use Robert Body and just totally lost a character due to the save game file corruption issue between Robert Body using the custom sliders and CharGen. New char only level 12 so I'm not too upset and was secretly thinking restarting him anyway. Normal save and exit save got corrupted and of course, a perfectly timed auto-save to ruin it all lol.

      Both CharGen and Robert totally worth the hassle. Thankfully, I got presets made so should be able to quickly get back to it.

      I'm actually experiencing a similar issue with SLM 14....I'm only able to use it once, and the next attempt causes CTD.

      Using 'showlooksmenu' does not enable you to access the biometric ID either, but saved presets overrides that limitation so I found a workaround; basically I keep an old save open on an alt character at or after character creation. I make my edits and save the preset...then load up my preferred save, use "showlooksmenu" and select that preset.

      I think the game crashes on chars with too much slider complexity, I only have crashes with my PC and Sarah (through CaCO). But I've found that running around a bit (it could be loading screens or just letting some time pass) like going from the Lodge to Enhance!, or Enhance! to the Starport via NAT, it'll let me use SLM again without a crash. So I just go back and forth from Enhance! to the Viewport when I'm trying to tweak something

      I assume it's slider complexity because I thought it was just Sarah having a unique headmesh or something, but then I slapped her sliders on Marika Boros and she started causing crashes too

      Right now I'm literally just popping in and out of the Lodge for a load screen and it hasn't crashed in like 8 edits

    I’m still going to wait until the creation kit launch before I touch this game again, but I was curious to see if this ever got updated. It’s good to see that this was updated to SFSE v 0.2.3. Cool. Then I looked at the SFSE site and saw that the most current version of SFSE was v0.2.7. I suppose it’s progress. Good to see.

    Again, I’m staying away from this game until the dust settles. Then I’ll decide what CK mods to use and what not to use. I just don’t feel like wasting my time on this right now. I really like the game, but I already put a lot of time into several characters. I have this sick feeling that I’ll need to start over when the CK is released. I had a lot of issues with Vortex because I have my vortex and games on the D drive.

    So edited and cleaned up things a bit here:

    1 - Not sure if people have encountered this issue at all, but you should be aware of the number of presets you have.
    1a) I did a bit of experimentation and, at least for me with minimal mods, after adding a certain number the game likes to crash after CC / Enhance randomly.

    2 - If you use 'Baka My Games' disabler, I noticed a strange interaction with it and CharGen.
    2a) Saved a preset in Enhance, load up a new playthrough, crashes. Move the saved preset, which locates to My Games, to whatever mod that adds a preset list (see: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/8686?tab=description) and there isn't a crash.

    3 - Despite moving the presets over, there is still a fair chance CharGen will crash at the the vanilla CC anyway.
    3a) - Load up a playthrough after the initial vanilla intro, attempt 1 crashes, attempt 2 succeeds.

    Sorry for all the constant edits to the post, but I'm fascinated by the randomness here.
