I will temporarily post small patches and tweaks from the community compatible with this mod here. Later we will decide what is worth publishing as optional files and what is not.
I think there is no need to explain in detail how to use large ladders, everything is intuitive. This is exactly what the shipbuilder should do when he is not making a mistake: remove the 2x ladders above, and replace the lower one with 3x or 4x or 5x. Between consecutively installed Crosspassages/HopeSpines it is now necessary to install a Passway, otherwise the interior walls between them will not be removed. Also, if you attach the Cockpit to the HopeSpine, you also need to add a Passway between them. Test it. The "design" of the menu (recipes) is temporary. This is due to a bug with the list implementation in shipbuilder. As new items are added (and I have great ideas) I will move them to the main recipe.
2.0.4 testing Version without HAB cloning, does not require compatibility patches.
What's new in 2.0.4
The creation of passages and the installation of doors between HABs, Crosspassages and Portholes has been globally disabled. Attention! The windows are closed and so are the Crosspassages! You have to install Passway (or.... read on ) between HAB and Porthole/Crosspassage yourself.
STBH (Snap Template Behavior) has been completely rewritten, these are the rules that control the replacement of objects, in this case when opening passages and installing doors. I could have made a mistake somewhere, please let me know immediately if an incorrect passage has been created between some compartments.
Added Doors for the "other side"! In vanilla there are only Stbd and Fore doors. This means that the door object is always located in the HAB near the Stbd or Fore wall. Now you can put the Port and Aft Door. LOL.
So. Now you can place doors on both sides of the Crosspassage (in vanilla this is impossible to do, since the door object cannot be placed inside the Crosspassage, there are simply no objects in it that should be replaced by the Door, but now you can place Doors "in adjacent compartments" ). You can also close the Porthole with a door Top and Bottom Portholes are also closed, although there is no “door” for them, but maybe someone will find a suitable door in the game, and I will add it. Of course, you can just put Passway/Hole. Hope Sipe == Crosspassage. In vanilla, Deimos, Stroud and Nova HAB install the door towards Hope Spine (but Hope and Tayio do not). This door could not be reliably removed with Passway. Now this is not a problem, you yourself decide to install a Door or Passway, and on which side.
It is very important for me to know whether the global rework of STBH affects other ships in the game! I haven't received any feedback on version 2.0.3+ yet. Please, write to me. You can also write to me in discord, for example, on this server, in this quiet corner. It’s also convenient to send screenshots on Discord (no need to post them somewhere first). I'm waiting for your feedback.
Just in case, after installing the new version, make a minimal modification of the ship.
Do not change my Global Variables in game (via console). This will lead to the destruction of the internal cell after restarting the game. Yeah. When the game restarts, the shipbuilder starts and checks your ships, and at this moment it does not even have access to Global Variables, or rather, it only has the value specified in the mod itself. Basically, don't touch them.
The shipbuilder menu item is glitchy. This is such a vanilla implementation (due to the fact that the third paragraph has only two elements). I will fix this in the next version.
1. Install Creations for Starcraft through steam. 2. Select data, then select the "Place Doors Yourself" esm 3. Select "Blueprintships.esm" then "Ctrl delete" on your keyboard.
I can't seem to get the staircases to work properly, no matter where I place them, which variant or which way it's flipped I can't get the doors to properly add to the staircase hab. Do they require a certain hab to connect to or something? Where ever I place the doors there's always a gap between the hab it's connected to and the staircase hab, the hab that connects to the staircase will place the door correctly, but the staircase hab will not have a door going into it. You can clip into the staircase through the hab it's connected to, but then you will just be walled in the staircase unless you TCL out of it.
I do use the Stroud Eklund Premium mod, but all the doors are working fine for all the habs, it's only the staircase/elevator hab that I can't get to add the doors.
From the looks of it unless you are using a save from before the update. The mods just not working properly. Been trying to troubleshoot it for a few days now and the only way to start a new game is with PYD disabled. Its really weird
I mean I can't speak for anyone else, but for me at least the only thing that isn't working for me is the staircase/elevator hab, all the other habs placing the doors works perfectly as it's supposed to, for me the only thing giving me issues is just the staircase/elevator hab, it's just not connecting as it should.
Anyone else have an issue with crew mates standing in one spot and never moving or doing anything? Sam and Andreja have been standing on my landing bay hatch for weeks. I don't know if it's this mod doing it or something else. This is the only ship building mod I've got.
I've been playing around with some mods that add habs, eg Crimson Fleet, Ryujin, Va'ruun and was noticing that in some instances it was like the door was there and when I opened it, the hab on the other side hadn't been 'told' to create a door hole, so there was obstruction with wall decorations etc. At first, I thought it was a problem with these mods, but I found one where theres a Hopetech hab and a Stroud hab, both vanilla, and there are some 'artifacts' in the way, eg some wall posters are floating in the air in the doorway. I'm wondering if its something to do with this mod? Thanks!
I actually just got the same texture/mesh problem with a vanilla hab where the floor was missing with a big hole in the ship. Its a "Fore" door between the Nova galatic control center 2x1 hab and the Nova Galactic workshop
yeah I had that issue even with some vanilla hab too btw the older doorway placeholder mod is compatible with the graz 1x1 habs and is generally safer solution if you can get it to do what you want
it takes a bit more "trial and error" attempts to get there though (took me about 2-3h to be happy with the result) and sometimes it gets bugged as well (you fall through after entering the ship and you can't even go back to builder to redo it as it crashes on builder entry so good idea to make a save before doing changes)
"place door yourself" is more straighforward and reliable to get what you want but sadly the incompatibility is a no-go for me as I would need to do a major redesing of my ship to get rid of the 1x1 habs and I am pretty happy with my ship now also it happened to me that some ship I captured had no doors so there is more risk of isses in the game
I have never had it happen going side to side, only front to back. Sometimes I can fix it with a passageway instead of a door. If I fall through I go to the cockpit and can use my boost pack to get to the docking ramp. Its never crashed on current version and I have never been truly traped because of a bug. So I think I will stay with current version. But it would be nice if the bug was found and fixed.
(I have been traped because of my own bad design in not putting a door to enter and exit the ship.)
A recent PDY patch from another modder that improved the functionality of the Ship Builder Categories and co-existence with TN' Separated Categories mod added a "MIsc" habs category and relocated the PDY Shutter and Door items to this menu. Unfortunately not long after I installed this "patch" the Door item disappeared from the Misc category. If Bethesda had simply made a few changes to the Ship Builder to make it easier for modder's to add new Ship vendors to the game so the components could be sorted logically via both manufacturer and type then these problems wouldn't exist (hopefully!) Thank you for making this mod but I may have to switch back to a load order without this mod (again), until this patch issue is resolved - if ever. I'm just letting you know the issue exists - even though it wasn't caused by your mod. If anyone else sees this and has experienced this problem or even managed to resolve it please let the community know how it was resolved. Thanks Again!
Does this mod still work? No matter what loadorder I use, no matter which mods I remove, I can't get ladders to show up in the ship building menu at all.
Love the mod, really SHOULD have been something like this in the vanilla game because the game is SO FRIKKIN' AWFUL at placing doors automatically. THANK YOU for this. You're my hero today.
BUT... this is not a bug, because it's not the mod's fault and there is no way to fix it, it's because of the way the game handles connection checks in the ship builder. It's just something people should be aware of if they use the mod. But it could potentially be kind of a big deal.
Fun fact: if you forget to place your doors and ladders as you build your ship, the game WILL NOT flag the ship as having no connection between cockpit and landing bay or docking port, as long as there are walkable habs between them all. So you absolutely can end up with a ship where you CANNOT get from the landing bay to the cockpit on foot... or if you fast travel to the cockpit you can leave and enter the room adjacent to it but you can go NO FARTHER than that, because you forgot to install doors so there are solid walls everywhere. But the game will still let you save the blueprint and fly the ship like that. Then you'll have to tear apart your ship one piece at a time to add the doors in before snapping everything back together, which can be a pain. Or, just leave it all door-less and pretend your character developed a Starborn power to walk through starship walls, but you'll never be able to access the interior of your ship unless it's literally only a single hab (of any size) that connects all three: cockpit, landing bay, and docking port.

Edit: Found the fix, cycling with Z works.
