Gave it a try, i basically moved the original DLC files out of the data folder, renamed the data from the mod i linked to removed the "patched" part and put the other file at the bottom of my list, which haws made building ships possible without deactivating the builderUI
I can tottaly get used to this interface if the primary view of the part does not get obstructed by the menu's , this mod makes the building far better than what shipped with the game but the obscuring of the part must be impossible or the vinilla wins.
There is an option in the ini file to only show the icons for the categories. With category names on, the category window overlaps the view of the ship and components you're trying to build. But changing it to icon-only allows you to see what you're doing.
The ini file is commented, so it's easy to find the correct settings. Just make sure you adjust the width as well, you'll see the comment mentioning it.
I take it the developer has abandonded the project?
Is the source code available? Has anyone been able to reach the author?
The ship build withotu StarUI is the clunkiest, must confusing, slow awful pile of shite. It's ubrearable - obviously designed exclusively with console users in mind. 🤬
The vanilla outpost and ship builder are unusable, still. I can't play the game without this - what is it going to take to fix?
I don't know anything about swf, but I'm willing to learn.
I did post a work around below. Basically when you want to add habs to your ship disable the StarUI Ship Builder mod. The re-enable it to add everything else to the ship. This way you can still use the StarUI ship builder mod for everything except habs.
I does require you to quite the game to disable the mod or enable the mod. Yes it is more work but at least you can still use the StarUI ship builder mod.
@Tebren jmpz11has done an incredible job saving the Starfield community, but I believe that miracles are yet to come 🤣 What you are asking for requires having the source code of the mod. Without it, it is impossible to make corrections, and the only solution is to make a new mod from scratch.
I found sort of a work around. Disable the mod to install habs then enable the mod to work on the rest of the ship. This way you can still use the mod for everything except the hab modules.
If you are using Vortex to manage your mods, click on the Green "Enable" button for StarUI Ship Builder. this disables the mod. Then when you want to re-enable the Mod, click on the "Disable" button, this will re-enable the mod.
Yes i always use SBC, and nothing change, the problem is the same. But, probably I found where is the issue. Is needed to update the swf with the FormIDs of new Empty Habs, but unfortunately the swf is not editable. The part of the code that needs to be updated with the new IDs is not editable. Or is it just me who can't do it.
This part of the code is only used to display hab statistics. The problem would therefore only be visual, because the author of the mod does not load this data directly from the game, but has entered it into an internal database. The incorrect displays in the list are due to the fact that some FormIDs of the old hab have changed. There could be two solutions: - delete this database- this would only result in missing hab data - update all FormIDs The first solution would be very quick, the second is ideal, but both do not seem feasible because the file is not editable.
This is great but the only problem, with this work around is you have to exit the game to disable the mod. Then after you add the habs you have to exit out of the game again to re-enable it, so you have to have a complete ship with no errors to do this. At least with vortex unless I'm mistaken with this mod and you can disable it in real time.
I'm not going to say, "Are we there yet?" as much as I want to ask. There were too many broken things in the Star UI suite that I uninstalled them all so I can see what this new Starfield version has to show. And wow. Do I miss it!
Also can confirm this. Hopefully the mod author didn't abandon the game or this mod. I found the ship builder UI to be way better. The only issue I had after the update (and a clean reinstall of the game), was that the Habs section is broken with the Ship Builder UI installed. All the other StarUI modules work fine for me so far.
I can confirm this too. I think BGS renumbered the form IDs of all Habs in order to implement the new empty habs for decorations and such. So only Habs section of this mod was affected by the May update. So sad...I really loved this mod. I uninstalled it and shipbuilding is so inefficient and confusing now...
These UI mods are critical to my starfield enjoyment! Thanks for all your work.
I think the beta has borked the display of habs because of the new empties. the hab submenu does some odd things, like redrawing over itself, and other mischief. I'm not able to see or select most of the available habs. I'll do some experimenting to see if there's a away around it, or if its another plugin entirely.

There is a dude that made this as a fix... https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/9336
I havent tried it yet for fear ofbreaking my "stable for once" game" but yeah
The ini file is commented, so it's easy to find the correct settings. Just make sure you adjust the width as well, you'll see the comment mentioning it.

Someone there appears to be working on a fix but was asking for help decompiling
I hope this helps
If you did loose installation, I guess you have to remove files

Maybe the same will work for this one too?
But no, it's not that issue. Hab section is still bonkers due to how Bethesda reworked it.

XXXOOO
And also, Vortex says that they conflict.
