Sorry for taking so long to reply to you, I mean can you make the weapon mount point can also install other modules, such as installing an engine on the weapon mount point
I can see the attraction. Being able to mount a Stround engine bracer to the Horizon weapon mount would finally allow for angled or diagonal pylons, the way the Enterprise warp engines are mounted.
I gave it a try just to be sure that my assumption was correct. It would be the holy grail of ship building if it was, but no... We cannot angle things off of those weapon nodes. Even if you make them able to be attached, they will not be rotated. They will be in their normal orientation, but they will just be floating off to the side. It doesn't do anything special really.
damn what a shame ... it would indeed be the holy grail yes but WHAT IF... in the structure's menu, there is one module which is called "module weapon plate" its basically a thin plate that one side is module snap and other side is weapon snap cant this be reversed ? meaning, we only need to make 1 single model to attach to weapon nodes and then it can support some modules (surely not all such as docker or habs but the structural and aesthetic ones can be snapped)
I have the AIO.. but for some reason, if I snap a weapon to the side of a ship, it faces down instead of forward. Works just fine on top and bottom, just if putting on a exterior wall, the weapon aims straight down?? Any thoughts...
PS.. Hope the tornado left u alone,, and kept the power on...
I wasn't near the tornados, but thank you. As for the query, that is a known issue. I know I have put it somewhere on here. The best thing to put on the sides, is turrets.
This mod is a lot better than ppl may think. Since everything essentially turns into a weapon mount point, you can do things heretofore not possible, like mount a conduction grid in the forefront of this Taiyo landing gear (hope ppl can see the image):
Yeah, I went a wee overboard with the guns. But I'm really loving no weapon plates! You can suddenly add stuff (and not just weapons) in places you never considered before.
N.B. I checked the turrets. They seem to be working/rotating sans the weapon plates just fine.
Awesome, and yeah. They seem pretty resilient as far as rotations go. I have not actually checked what happens if you have the weapons (forward facing ones) rotated incorrectly. Maybe it could make for something interesting with volleys going downwards or something. Or the directionality could just be a visual.
Not 100% about this mod per se, but since you're doing weapon point mods, any chance you can A) make the Starborn ship weapons (avaiable with a ship unlock) visible? And B) add snap points to them?
Probably not. I've actually been playing with weapons like the starborn weapons seeing how they work, but while giving their stats to something already existing might work, they don't have any models of their own. So, if anything it would be a pseudo starborn type weapon... and I guarantee there will be mods for that coming out sooner or later.
Right. If the weapon doesn't point the right way already, then you can't turn them. Sorry. That's why I say it is best to use forward facing weapons on the top and bottoms of habs/structure, and turrets elsewhere. Turrets should work from any orientation.
Man, I wish I could just take my ship weapons into a crafting table and mod them actually. That'd be pretty rad. I do wonder how hard it would be to add variations on different weapons though...
does this happen to include a chin mount on the Nova Galactic Cabot bridges, or would that even be possible without looking weird (like the gun pointing “upwards”)? those bridges normally don’t have any attachment point there, much less a weapon one, so i’m not too hopeful.
Unfortunately I do not make any changes to the snap points themselves. This is just telling the nodes that there are more valid attachment points for them. It's a little rules change, and doesn't effect the models at all. It also should be compatible with better snap points and other mods. I cannot guarantee orientation though.
If you want additional snap points on things, I would go talk to the author of better snap points. He's doing some amazing work over there.

Also, for those wondering:
P.S. That is SO many guns!

Like EMP missiles, or laser turrets that do Emp/Shield dmg vs Hull/Shield?
Missile or rocket turrets would be kinda cool also.
Enjoying the variety you have dropped into the game, much appreciated
