Fellow MO2 users, if it says the mod contains nothing, you need to go into the mod's "filetree" menu in MO2 and move the textures folder out of the data folder. You can get rid of the data folder afterwards, it won't have anything in it anymore. Et voilĂ ! Should work unless I'm delusional.
Heya, i am i little lost here, how do i manually install everything? do i copy it to Documents/MyGames/Starfield or in the same folder where starfield.exe is?
These look lovely! I suspect this might be a silly question, but - how does retexturing a suit mesh affect the rest of the game?
For example, if we install the Vanguard suit retexture, can we just use that on the player's suit? Or will it affect all the NPC members of the UC Vanguard? I'd quite like it to be my own personal suit, and for the NPCs to just stay as they are normally.
Simple retextures will affect all instances of the object. In order to make a unique version for yourself you would need a new copy of the mesh renamed and edited to use a new texture path in nifskope or whatever mesh editor is being used for Starfield. It doesn't involve remaking the mesh, just re-pathing it. Then you'd need an .esm with a formID and path to the new mesh to create the suit in the game, along with the stats and stuff copied over (or altered if you like) from the original.
I'm probably missing a step or two, I haven't done the whole process myself, only edited sometimes. In other words, it's a project. Of course if you learned how to do it you could make yourself all sorts of things. YouTube would have tutorials and such. :)
I hadn't previously thought about making my own mod, but to be honest, that sounds quite feasible. I could start with something like the Exile Suit Mod as inspiration, as I know that makes an entire new suit and adds it to the levelled loot list etc. - and just follow a similar file structure for a custom Vanguard suit maybe...
While these are great really wish someone could tackle the Space Trucker/Star Roamer Set, base helmet actually have a very nice shape to it but the colors are just blech so currently using the only retex I found which imo is good the Nuka-Cola Space Trucker set but a darker more utilitarian option seems like a missed opportunity by BGS or even a Hi-Visibility accented spacesuit as it seems to be meant for working cargo haulers default "cost effective" suit by the name or explorers on a budget
Brilliant - would you be willing to use the white Vanguard retexture on the Ace Pilot suit as an option? I believe its the same mesh as the base Vanguard suit
I'm not sure if it's the Ace Pilot suit i've replaced but i added a new option to replace one of them, the texture names aren't identical to the suit names ingame so i guessed. If you try it out let me know :)

Thanks again, you've got me thinking xD
Texture on the rear end of the MK1 space suit looks a bit "wrinkled". Otherwise, looks great!
