What would happen if you applied this mod, landed near Neon and built an outpost, and then removed the mod? Would your outpost remain in tact above the water? Disappear? Anyone tried this?
I did use this mod to get rid of the water, build an outpost, and put a space station up in orbit around Neon. Then removed this mod, and now my outpost is under water, but the space station is still fully functional :D
There is only the one space station mod. I managed to build one that had three interconnected habs - one large and two smaller that were connected by glass tunnel connections. Doors were not an issue. But adding more modules didn’t open doors so some were orphaned and not accessible. So it seems you need to use trial and error. Put a few habs together… see if it works… if not… try a different layout. Once you got one that works, you can then add all kinds of exterior crap to make it look like a real space station. :)
I'm very very familiar with modding with more than my fair share of games modded but as we all know & have learned if it's a game breaking mod people generally stay away from it. Now this is a cool looking mod I'll give it that. But I've to much time invested in this game to possibly lose it all. I learned my lesson after the 2nd time in Fallout 4. I'm not bashing what the modder has created cause it looks really nice, I'm just very, very, very careful with my game mods. YES I have my Starfield modded. I also understand mods are a bit shaky until the Creation Kit comes out & that I can't wait for just like a lot of people.
Mh, not sure if thats a good idea. When there is much more to land on, the planet needs more than just a few abandoned outposts and caves, after all it is a colony that was established MANY years ago, it have to have more settlements, not just a single structure etc, that just does not cut it.
Yah, I just think modders should leave the main colony worlds alone, for now, there are plenty of ocean worlds that could make good use of this "ice world stuff".
Yah, I just think modders should leave the main colony worlds alone. Neon is a like a huge oil platform, in intention and design. It should be left alone, IMHO. More power to ppl who want to install this, though.
Literally every major story planet in the game has exactly ONE settlement. (SOMETIMES there is one trader all alone or with 2 others in an unfurnished building lol) I do not understand why there needs to be more than one for this mod when there is ZERO precedent for such a thing. Bethesda wrote a quest about denying refugees a place to live (or finding another planet) because the resort corporation built a SINGLE building and refuses to allow anyone to live anywhere else on the massively unused planet. I assume that is how all the other planets including neon would work as well if neon had land. Really though, it is just my excuse for Bethesda rushing the development of this game that was clearly made in 6 months to 1 year lol.
Interesting that you can do this. Although I’m not sure why… why did you do this? As an experiment? You wanted more explorable planets? You feel Neon being a water world wasn’t appropriate? Just curious.
Do you think it will be possible to create new systems? I’d love to see a mod that adds new previously unsettled systems at the far edge of the map that we can go to where there will be no abandoned facilities… no other ships or pirates, or anything… just nothing but nature.
You'll probably have to wait for the CK to come out. Right now there's just no easy way to copy planetdata records for modification. I've only seen one mod where it was done, and I can't get an answer on how he pulled it off.
I want the same thing, virgin planets and moons with no signs of humans on them. I mean seriously, Earth has 8 billion people on it but there are still places you could land where you wouldn't see any sign of human presence. But on a worthless moon 50 light years away you can't put down anywhere without seeing man made trash within a kilometer. The only planet where there is NO sign of humans? Earth (except for the special landmarks.)
That appears to be controlled by a single keyword, but that can't be added to an existing planet until there's a way to copy the planetdata.
Did you happen to go to Neon? I tried the mod and I happened to be there already, and my ship was under water when I loaded in, the blast shields for the landing pad is missing. I tried leaving and coming back, same thing, even an NPC ship was underwater with me. I will do more testing tomorrow.
I tried to leave the close area around Neon untouched so that it can still have the water and current environment. Each point of Interest in the game has its own climate and biome, separate from the planet its on. I could change it so also the area around Neon is ice too, but I kinda liked it that way. How close to Neon did you land?
Okay, maybe it was because I was already in Neon. I reloaded an earlier save from New Atlantis and flew there and now it seems to be working. I was at the landing pad at the city. I boost packed around after it reloaded and fine and I can see your ice terrain under the water if you go out far enough.
Yeah, I reloaded another save at Neon, at the elevator and same issue. I think your mod changes the z axis of stuff at the location and if you happen to load the mod when you are already there, it breaks stuff. You have to make sure to not be at Neon when loading the mod. I will post a screenshot.
My old save seemed to work fine, as long as you aren't already there, when you load the mod the first time.
I guess there's probably nothing under the water normally, maybe, and now that your land is there, it raises everything. But, as long as the save you load isn't at Neon, the game makes up for the changes. I think the warning should be enough.

Can’t wait to see what mods you come out with when CK2 drops 😁
Does it still spawn NPC ships landing ? ( so I can steal them ;)
