Double checked with the new files from the Starfield update(s). Standard (overdue...) maintenance. Nothing's changed in the vanilla script, so nothing needs to change with my mod. 🙂 - 2/7/2024
I do not know why this would happen, having played on my own save for a while, it hasn't happened to me, and I don't use a variety of different types of mods. I also do not use the beta branch of Starfield.
In short, I can't help you without your save file (of which I'd still likely be unable to properly diagnose it), and I especially can't help you if you use any master file mods.
This is speculation but, the repeated reinitialized character that this mod stops may prevent Other You's facegen data from being corrupted, as it's continually copying it's data from the player character. If that is the case it's likely that it would only be covering up a worse problem with your save and/or mod list.
I'd have to look at what mods affect faces and the like (Possibly a brow or eye mod or something) Also looking at it it's more of a (The character's sliders are fine, but no cosmetics are being applied, like makeup, scars, and it's the default skin tone) I'll experiment with it and see if I can find a solution.
Not sure if this helps, but I noticed that depending on the face color / skin tone I picked for the face of my other "You" it doesn't seem to be persistent and reverts to the game default color. So, if I pick a face that is tone #6 and I change it to #2, when I fast travel, the face goes back to #6 but the body is still #2 making the face look much darker. I'm probably not explaining this correctly... I had to try several different faces and skin tones to fix it. Hope that helps, let me know if I can provide any additional information that may help - I'm sure this seems like gibberish and I really don't understand how the game works and don't know the correct terms - I'm not skilled at modding.
Sadly still haven't been able to figure out what the issue is, Even after a reinstall, rebuilding mod list, even swapping to mod manager instead of manual installs.
I've just decided she's got a tan and doesn't wear makeup. The annoying thing is using the "capp" command on her it shows she still has the makeup and other things "saved", What I'm wondering is if it has something to do with "refresher.txt" thing mentioned in this. I'll see if that fixes it and report soon
No, not at all. All I've done was comment out a line of code anyways. I'm pretty sure that's not enough work to count as its own thing or something that could be done differently anyways.
I really appreciate this mod. I have changed everything about my character in my latest NG+ and with this can have my old self, which I modeled after me, as a crew member or companion. That exact thing is something I have been trying to get working properly in both Skyrim and FO4, and now it's basically cooked into the game. Your mod makes the whole other you scenario so much better.
I have one question. Is it at all possible to make the other you keep it's original name as well as appearance? I even changed gender on my new character, so the matching names is a little unfortunate.
Thanks again, this has really enhanced my latest playthrough.
It's not possible to have them keep their old name. The quest that controls Other You dynamically renames them using a message, which simply points at the player for their name. There's nothing I can do about it with the tools I have at my disposal.
My personal solution is to use xTranslator and change the text of the PlayerNameMSG EDID from "<Alias=Player>" to whatever you would like your alternate self to be named.
This Message/String is currently only referenced by things controlling the Other You Elite Crew, so it won't affect anything/anyone else.
I dunno, dimensional time travel, and if you change appearance, the Other You also had an appearance change in her alternate parallel dimension, and if you dont she doesnt either...so i think its better that the other you changes appearance with you, as the other dimension is parallel, and not stuck in the past. Its you you, in every dimension, and your actions are very similar at the time its currently happening etc.
also if the other you doesnt change appearance, after you do, the other you becomes a weird random npc who just used to look like you. you shouldnt think of the other you like its your twin...its somebody who is also you, and what happens to you, happens to her too etc...dunno
Nah, if you talk to them it's pretty clear they're their own person. I was a bounty hunter, they were a miner, they were close with their parents, I wasn't, etc. etc.
Oh, and to be clear, this doesn't effect Parallel Self, that's it's own separate thing.
It's not going to happen on your first NG+, likely ever. First NG+ is always a 'vanilla' universe from what everyone says, and then from NG+2 onwards there's a 15% chance to get a unique universe, but there's 10 different ones, so it's more like a 1.5% chance to get the one with the "other you" character, unless you use bat files like "Enter the Multiverse" (lets you use a command to set the conditions for the unique NG+ of your choice) and/or a mod like "NG Plus Fixes and Improvements" (fixes the softlock that if you get one of the unique universes sometimes you can't open your inventory at all, and optionally allows you to choose the percent chance of getting a unique NG+ universe anywhere from vanilla 15% to 90%).
If you do a NG+ for the Xed time there is a chance that you from that Universe will be at the lodge delivering the artifact, you can then recrut yourself. If you went to spawn yourself, go to the lodge type this in console placeatme 001a93a5 and wait for other you to go to their idle position in the main room in the lodge, now you can talk to yourself and go on a killing spree with yourself.
I apologize, there's not really a way to mark my mod as a spoiler, and the entire mod hinges off of it. But yes, after multiple NG+es you have the chance to encounter yourself as a recruitable crew member/companion.
Also, note, you can save right before you step through the unity, and then see if it gives you a variant universe when it loads. If the "go to the lodge" quest doesnt specify ( MAST District) its an alt universe.
i reloaded about 8 times on my NG+6 to get the "Me" companion universe.
Other You will look like whatever You looked like when you first meet Other You, or when you installed the mod. You should be able to temporarily uninstall the mod if you want to change how Other You looks.
If that didn't answer your question then I'm not sure I understood it, sorry 😅
It will until you reload the save. There's nothing I can do about it. My personal solution is to use xTranslator and change the text of the PlayerNameMSG EDID from "<Alias=Player>" to whatever you would like your alternate self to be named.

So this lets me have a different appearance then the other me?
Yesterday I tried to change the hair color of me, and the clone had the original hair color. Then i went through a door into a new area, and the clone had my new hair color.

Thank you so much for the reply and this mod^^

Do you mind if this mod is integrated into community patch? you will be credited.
