Please read the notes at the bottom of the readme before posting any bug related questions in this discussion.
Any known bugs will be listed in the bugs section.
Please message me if you find a bug not listed in the notes or the bugs section. Thankyou :)

*Version 1.2: Fixed issue with power and cargo links, placed objects not being interactable, restricted area returning after loads, outpost now selectable on planet map, simplified procedure.
Trying to find a way to use this method with outposts built with earlier versions(Sorry, this is all new, still has some quirks).

Thank you to BlackMaz3 for the original fix and his video tutorial for the first version.

With 1.2, Dream House returned to a restricted area on me after I quit the game and came back.

Two mini security robots also randomly appeared. I'm not sure what's up with that because it wouldn't let me building any robots before I quit. It just kept saying other objects were interfering and not letting me place robots.

The same thing happened to me in the Dream House, things went back to restricted after exiting and loading the last save. I tried to re-do the steps many times to make sure i did not miss a single step but the same problem exists. The workaround i did in the meantime is to not delete the bat command beacon and every time i exit the game and load the last save, i issue the command setoutpostoverlay on the bat command beacon in order for me to place items again in the restricted area. Not ideal on my situation but this is still an excellent mod and thank you for introducing this.

All good mate, I did try it on dream house just before with v1.2 and it was fine, sorry i can't help.
Just remember to access the build menu form the main beacon or you'll run into issues.

I followed the instructions exactly as they were written. I created the beacon with the bat command, walked out of the area, came back and built the normal beacon, deleted the bat command beacon, and went forward from there.

Because it was giving me issues with building robots, I quit the game and when I reloaded it had reset to a restricted area, which was unfixable due to having deleted the original bat command beacon (I tried placing a new bat command beacon and it didn't help).

tested and retested, dreamhome resets after fully shutting game down, (flora also vanishes and so on.) pprobably best to plan everything out first, *Make sure you have mats* revert to save before summoning the dummy, bing bang boom.

So today I took the jump and installed this mod. all went fine and I placed at the end 3 crew stations around the outside of Vlad's House.. after save and leaving came to desktop I reloaded that save and the area was indeed restricted again.. All items I did place are still there, incl the "real beacon" with its new name.
Should I leave to orbit and land again .. or anyone has further test data?

I'm experiencing the same issue with Vlad's house. Went through the steps exactly as stated multiple times. Even to the point of specifically renaming the outpost as instructed, and only building in the outpost by activating the beacon. I can leave and come back and retain the ability to build, but once I exit the game and resume, the area is marked as restricted again.

Some notes: when I leave and come back, that's when the plants (and toxic gas vents) spawn in. However, when I reload the game and the area is restricted again, it returns to its correct POI state (no more extra plants), but retains everything I built.

When the location becomes restricted like this, do you think it's possible to un-restrict it again temporarily to build/adjust items by placing another bat command beacon, then deleting that beacon again when done?  [Edit] I tried this and it seemed to work ok. Do you anticipate this would lead to issues?

The mod works fine for generic POI.
With unique POI you will need to place the bat beacon and setoutpostoverlay after a reboot.
(I'm sure this was fine when I tested, but for some reason, I'm running into the same issue with unique POI. I think it has something to do with the EP and PP versions of the beacons)

I suggest deleting the bat beacon after setting overlay, if you build from your scanner, it will build from the closest beacon to the player.
Everything should still work fine even if the restricted returns but you can't build or modify existing objects until you place the bat beacon and set overlay again.

I spent the last 4 hours trying to figure out a work around for the unique POI, but no luck.

Trees and rocks respawing is just a thing after removing the restricted area, it happens after a fast travel.

Thanks for looking into this! As long as there's some way to get edit/build functionality back once the unique POI has reverted to restricted, I still call this a huge success, and a complete gamechanger for outpost building. Thanks for your work on this great mod!

That is because all POI are reset everytime you leave the game and join back to allow you repeat the dungeon zone. You should not build in POI zones, it is better to find out the Building ID and spawn the building as new item on the map inside your settlement zone and build it by your own with console commands adding walls and floors etc. Later you can add the housing item to decorate it like if it was your house.

I installed the Villa on Earth mod with the Earth Biome from the same author and all went ok. I followed the instructions and it allowed me to place a shipyard near the villa with some lights and an engine, but when i came back on the game today the zone was again a restricted zone like others said. Anyway you can repeat the process to keep building if you want to add something more or just make it appear with .placeatme command with the ID and then move it with console modpos command. The flora problem is solved easily with "disable" just click on the plants and disable all of them one by one, they wont reappear. Don't use Markfordelete or they will reappear just place them as disabled so they will be invisible.

Tested and works as of May 11 2024.
Thank you for the mod. Now i can actually use all the space in the outpost footprint without getting blocked by random rocks and trees!

Can you use this to incorporate "Dream home" into your outpost?

I did build an outpost around the dream home - without this mod - but keep in mind that the dream home interior isn't inside of the outpost, but in some mystical nether space / instance sort of volume.  So you'll get the dream home build menu when you're inside of it.

My problem (without this mod) was the returning of the "area is restricted") issue, where I discovered I had to both fiddle around with my two different outpost beacons and that if I started to build at a distance from them, I'd get the menu for whichever was closer (I think based on the center, not the bounding box, which means I couldn't hide one of them inside the other one).

I'm looking forward to seeing if this mod (well, mildly optimized process, but with good docs) helps with these things ;-)

i have a question, i did everything as instructed and it worked for me then i exited the game to add mods for outpost when i came back the annoying "area is restricted" massage came back.

what gives? i thought it should work now but it still doing it, do i have to build one crew station? because i didn't i just added the beacon deleted the old one an exited the game without building anything yet maybe that the problem?

Can you please make this mod downloadable via Vortex.  Would love to have it but I don't do Manual downloads only Vortex.  I've got issues with Memory loss due to stroke.  I would mess up a manual download like nobody's business lol.

I am lost with the instructions.

    1. I went to the location I want to place outpost (top of volcano).

    2. Use "bat Outpost1" to place beacon.

    3. Target the beacon, locate "ACTI", type "setoutpostoverlay"

Nothing happened here.  Is there supposed to be a message?  Anyway, I move on to the next step.

    4. Leave the build area, bring up Scanner, hit R ... Well, this is where I am stuck.  Outpost button is greyed out.  If I move back in the build area, I will just have those 3 categories.  If I move out, I can't build anything.

    What am I missing?

I have the same problem. Maybe its because you build too close to an restricted zone. I tried to build at the Waggoner Farm. That doesn't work there either

    Endorsed.

I am having a problem, however.  I realize that this mod may not work properly in interior cells...and that is where my problem lies.

I'm attempting to place interior lights and to have them work.  I've managed to place the outpost beacon and can build objects.  I've built a light and a power source.  I am able to move them, but when I hold "E", I'm not able to wire these lights to a power source.  I have plenty of materials in my inventory.  The "Hold For Extras" option is not even present in the "Modify" menu.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there a fix?  Thanks for your time.

Would this work on a random outpost that you recently cleared out of enemies or would they spawn back in over time?

They spawn back in overtime. I took over one base that had ecliptic and when I came back the next day my whole crew was fighting the ecliptic all named characters were fine and 3 hired guns from bars with no names died. So I got another mod that would let me add security guards and robots the no named people still die often. So if your going to add people to it make it robots and the such that you can build and repair along with turrets and named characters so they don't die on you.
