As I wrote in bug-section some days before: This script mod may work only, if you decide to stealth into Petrovs treasure chamber. But if you like to follow Petrov there, the guardians and Petrov himself become hostile instantly close to the vault. Disabling the script mod will return to normal behaviour.
In my opinion it's not the optimal way to make that work. I will enable the mod only, if I like to follow the mission that way.
You may activate or deactivate the script-mod mid-playthrough as you like. It seems to be save to do so. I did and everything worked as intended.
I'm not using a mod organizer so doing it the old-fashioned way. I put it in the Data folder where the game is installed. Is that the right location? I'm also not on the latest version of Starfield, if that matters.
You should probably use a mod manager. I recommend mo2.
If you wanna do manual, then I can't help you. I didn't bother with manual installation, my brain is too smol to deal with that. Here are some random stuff I gleaned from the Internet: 1. Did you add some of those ini changes? To the correct ini files? Sorry I don't know what these are off the top of my head 2. Did you put loose files in "my games"? Or did you block it with the "my games" blocker mod? If you did, you gotta use Sfse, make sure that is installed right for the right version 3. Did you put the files in the right place? Don't put stuff in data/data.
I don't wanna spend time teaching people how to mod starfield on every single mod comment section, so you'll have to do your own research, so this is the best I can do. Good luck.
To be clear here, "where to put mods" is a basic modding question, not a question about _this_ mod. People shouldn't be asking individual authors about that unless the mod in question is doing something unique or has some unusual installation process. This does not.
And if you've taken the harder path with the least support, you _definitely_ should have the basics on lock.
Inside the download archive is a data folder, drop that into the Starfield main directory with the .exe file. If you are in the data folder in windows explorer then either go back one folder or go into the data folder in the archive and drop the scripts folder into the data folder. The Source folder in the archive is not in the correct directory and also not required.
Manual uninstall:
Open the downloaded archive and the Starfield install directory in Windows Explorer. Go down folders until you run out of folders and find a file in the archive. Browse to that same file in Windows Explorer. Delete the file in Windows Explorer that you found in the archive. Repeat for all folders in the archive until none are left. If in Windows Explorer the file from the archive is alone in it's folder you can delete the folder and all folders above until you get to a folder with other folders or files inside of it to keep your Data folder clean.
None of that's rocket science and has been the same since Morrowind in Bethesda games.
I've noticed something on my last few non-stealth playthroughs. Even when Petrov walks you back, when you get close to the vault everyone turns hostile. I removed the script and it reverted to normal behavior. So I'm not sure its a bug with script or a feature. Either way, I figured I'd post about it.
would be neat to have the option of removing said bounty by killing everyone aboard the ship, or not getting it at all if you've already done so before grabbing the artifact - there's even an attack dialogue choice when talking to Petrov that says something along the lines of 'no witnesses' if you get to him by killing everyone on your way, but it doesn't really make any difference bounty-wise.
Works great!!!! Endorsed! Struggled with this quest for 2 hours, trying to find a way to Stealth it or just not get the bounty at all, and you've saved my sanity!
having a bounty isn't necessary to trigger crimson fleet questline. it's just one of the options. another option is to get recruited into the vanguard and finish the first probationary mission. (edit: up until the key NPC goes back to report to MAST)
Yeah but I already DID the whole Crimson Fleet questline, so I shouldn't be "forced" towards it again by some shoddy quest coding. The CF questline is entirely optional.
Thanks :) I spent a couple hours on this quest trying to avoid the bounty and I was pretty frustrated that I was just not allowed to. I get that you have to dock with the ship to get to the artifact, so it makes sense, but alerting everyone on the ship immediately was really annoying since Barrett doesn't like it if you kill the collector. This will be nice for a second playthrough.
Nope. As soon as you pick up the Artifact, whether escorted down or stealthed, you instantly Aggro the whole ship and get a 500 UC Bounty. If this Mod fixes it, instantly endorsed. Trying it now!
I also refuse to use Mod Organiser 2, because I want to know exactly what is going on my PC and where.
Also, MO2's installer sets exceptions for itself in Windows Defender, which for anyone security conscious is a massive red flag. No software should be able to exclude itself from security defences.

2. I do and I am using SFSE. Most mods need it anyway.
3. Yeah, in Data not Data/Data.
I understand. Thank you for replying. Guess I gotta go guns blazing.
Did you tell the game that it needs to load the mod through "plugins.txt"?

Dang I guess I got spotted somewhere then?
Edit: I did it on second try, I guess you cannot release the animals without being "detected"
You can also get bounties outside of this quest: via commiting crime and getting caught.

It says Installation / Whenever
^^
