im pretty sure this mod aswell goes to documents/data instead of game dir for me. i dont understand why half of required data folder files for modding in documents for me.
You can delete that folder in documents, and then disable message of the day and move screenshots default to photos folder. Everything will then default to the data folder in the main directory.
I have kinda bad eyesight and going into caves and been forced into tunnel vision visibility is kind of annoying, and does not unfortunately do anything to my immersion.
If the "light" just a circular white texture or does it have some special format? Does that mean I could just make a super large headlight effect by just making the white area in the texture much larger?
Yes and no, the light image is a 2048*2048 black square with a white circle in the middle that fades out slightly at the edges. You can replace this with texture with literally anything, see the other flashlight mods on this site - it just needs to be in the same format of .dds. The actual headlight effect, being wider/larger or casting further, cant be modified until other mod tools are released.
To make your own flashlight texture; grab "Paint.net" and open 'lightminehelmet01gobo_color.dds', then modify the image as you see fit, then file > Save-As > FileName = lightminehelmet01gobo_color > Save as type = DirectDraw Sufrace (dds) > Save > Save Configure = BC7(sRGB,DX11+) > OK.
If done correctly your modified flashlight will appear in game, just make sure to place it in the same file structure as this mod

Damn. I changed the helmet for the mantis suit, quite at the same time. Maybe it's this mod that i should look into. Thanks for the reply, it was a great mod when i got it to work ;p
I could be wrong but I think the the size of the flashlighs diameter is currently locked to a specific image scale. So making a larger texture file would only cause it to be forced to the smaller "restricted" size that the engine uses. I think this is why the mod author already noted making the light's diameter or distance larger won't be possible without the creation kit.
