    Common Issues / F.A.Q.
Mod doesn't seem to be working
Use the console command in-game help UnarmedScaling
The mod has loaded correctly if it returns with:
QUST: UnarmedScaling_Quest (XX000800) 'Unarmed Damage Scaling'

    The mod hasn't loaded correctly

Please follow troubleshooting instructions on the description page.

I need help getting this mod to work. I get the "QUST: UnarmedScaling_Quest (XX000800) 'Unarmed Damage Scaling'" when I enter the help UnarmedScaling command but when I set the value higher it doesnt change my unarmed damage. What am I doing wrong?

I can second this post. But sadly I think this has been abandoned.

Hello ! Thanks, I'm trying your mod to balance an unarmed gameplay,  but can't succeed to change original value using command XX000801 to Y . I verified the  load order with your help UnarmedScaling command and have a successfull message in log but damage multiplier stay the same (bit high).

    Where is the issue ?

    Have a nice day

Everything I hit dies in one hit.  It makes it hard to level up certain perks like Martial Arts where I need to Stun/Disarm, etc.
I tried the console commands, but there doesn't seem to be any changes.
  5. So, imagining that one wished to use the old version where you needed to use console commands to attach the script, what would the console command be?

Would it be possible to create a mod that adds weapon scaling to melee??

The better fix would be to introduce melee weapon tiers and mods the way ranged weapons have tiers and mods.

set XX000801 to Y doesn't alter the multiplier for unarmed damage scaling, tried with several numbers and the scaling remains constant (1.5)

How do we check if the mod is working properly?

I've used the "player.getav unarmeddamage" console command, but it just shows 0 throughout my leveling.

I've also used the "player.getav strength" console command, but it just shows as 0 as well. I set it to 1 and reloaded my save to see if it would do anything, but that didn't change in value.

Please try updating - I think I broke something in my last update. I'm putting instructions to see if mod is correctly loaded into the pinned comment.

can you fix it so that we can "equip" unarmed or press a quickslot one time to equip an item and once again to unequip the same item?

Thanks! Point of clarification: By once per playthrough, do you mean once per character, or must it be re-run each new universe?

Good question. I don't have the means to test that right now, but I think it's unlikely.

Until that is determined, the safe thing to do would be to assume that it carries over in a NG+, and if it doesn't you can just re-run the command.

To test if your script is still active, simply player.setav strength 1 and then save and load your game. If your strength is anything but 1 when you run the command player.getav strength then the script is still active.

EDIT: NG+ requires it to be run again.

Reminds me of the isolation perk.
The isolation perk activates and deactivates on save load, which is why people think it's not working.

Does it work if I had "bat UnarmedScaling" to my StarfieldCustom.ini file (so I don't have to press the console command every time) ? (I don't know if the bat command works only on ".txt" files wo are directly in the same folder StarfieldCustom.ini is or if it's bound also on sub-folders)

You only need to type the command once, so I would not recommend adding it to any batch files or to your StarfieldCustom.ini
