If you're updating from a previous version, type the following commands in the in-game console after removing speed boosting items: player.restoreav speedmult 500 player.setav speedmult 100 player.forceav speedmult 100 epc This always resets your speed to vanilla, if something went wrong
Control-F12 does this similar to a .bat file after 2.0.1. Think of it as panic-oh-no-wtf-button IF something goes wrong (but it really shouldn't in the newest version)
Just a reminder for gamepass users. The StarfieldCustom.ini does not work. Instead you must paste the contents of it within the Starfield.ini in the games install directory. To find install directory easy...
- Click "..." on game page - Manage - Files - Browse - Open Starfield folder, then Content folder, and voila.
That said, works like a charm, thanks for the mod. Tired of having to toggle back and forth from walk to jog every 5 seconds while following someone. I honestly don't understand why Bethesda does this with every damn game, always having to mod walk speed.
I am running SF through Game Pass and this mod works for me using the starfieldcustom.ini. I already had one from the Cleanfield mod and just copy and pasted the [Menu] section into it and put the starfieldhotkeys into the same folder (/documents/my games/starfield). This is how I have my starfieldcustom.ini:
Appears you may be right, maybe the update a few days ago made it work proper. I just know prior when I was installing the Neutral LUT's mod, it had to be done directly in the game folder.
Just to build on what was said above - I know there were issues with gamepass and starfieldcustom.ini, but those issues seemed to be per user. I have played since pre-release and installed my first mod the 1st of sept and then started adding more at the 10th and so forth. I was lucky and Starfieldcustom.ini has been working for me since the get-go.
Bro, 1. The mod works perfectly for anyone still curious. Well done Frosty.
2. I don't expect to get a response from the author since it's been a long while and they've likely moved on to other things but if you're reading this, save me from insanity. I can not fix this one little nuisance at all:
There's a perfect fast walking speed JUST before the slow jog animation starts and a great slow jog speed that doesn't look like its slow motion, but a natural "trot" and all I want is to make either one of those the default starting speed when you press the hold to run button(not the sprint button).
I have tried every conceivable correction in your ini settings but I can't raise the walking speed past a certain point no matter what I do when it's "hold to walk" mode or when it's hold to run mode I can't get it to sprint from walk.
If you can help let me know what Im doing wrong then I would love you. Obviously I don't understand the syntax enough to make sense of how the variables are interacting with each other and what is limiting the walking speed or preventing me from sprinting from a run.
Really enjoyed the mod, unfortunately it seems like the mod caused some slight lag for me. I guess due to all the constant console inputs (I used the seamless scrolling a lot).
Vortex is placing the 'StarfieldHotkeys.ini" file in the wrong place. You need to manually place the 'StarfieldHotkeys.ini' file in the 'Documents\My Games\Starfield' folder. Where the 'StarfieldCustom.ini' is located.
I hope this helps anyone out there having the same issues with getting this mod to run correctly.
I did that but its still not working for me. For some reason selecting all different walk options don't seem to be working no matter what i tried. I guess just typing speedmult in console is the only way for me. This isn't working at all.
Just figured it out, as stated above the 'StarfieldHotkeys.ini" has to be placed at 'Documents\My Games\Starfield But and the StarfieldCustom.ini located in the same folder needs to look like below, afterwards depending on installation the mouse scrolling works
I hope you're still around and pop back now and then. I've been using this mod since last sept and love it, it's done me well using the wheel to walk/jog.
As you may/may not know the new land vehicle has just arrived and it's one speed. I was hoping if you could implement the speed of the vehicle into your mod so we can use the mouse wheel for the driving speed.
Does anyone know why the scanner's zoom in and out function gets disabled while using this mod? The scroll up and down is disabled too while looting a container. Not sure why...
Thank you. This is awesome. Once I figured out how to get it working using the mouse wheel to control speed from walking to running it has been a Godsend. Seriously has changed the way I enjoy the game.
You mentioned: "figured out how to get it working", would you mind posting how you got it working please? For me no matter what I do, I can't get this mod working again. I had it working last May when I last played Starfield but now with a new install of the game, it doesn't seem to work with the most current version of the game.
This mod is almost perfect. I just think there is ONE thing missing: control over the animation between stopped, and running. Basically the "get up and go" animation. Not sure what it's called.
If you want your character jogging by default, it looks kind of silly to have them look like they are about to take off in a full sprint, and then slow down to jogging. My "RunDefaultMod" is set to -30 to force my character to jog by default. I'd like if I could slow down the intermediate animation between fully stopped, and running, to around that same value. Any ideas if that's doable?
if someone find a fix to this damn I would be happy, it's annoying when you set like jogging speed and all sudden just because you stopped for a sec you get a speed boost up to like max for a second before it goes down back again. annoying. Otherwise to me this is a immersion mod I just need.
Not sure if this is exactly what you're talking about, but this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1893?tab=description gets rid of the running start animations. Is that what you're talking about?
So....I'm curious. Did this mod stop working with the most current build of the game? I used this mod from the day it was released until last May. At the end of May I uninstalled Starfield and just installed it again today (July 19th). I'm having no luck in getting this mod to work. I did get a new analog keyboard (the Wooting Two HE) but I'm just running the default profile on it with no adjustments.

Edit: Had to add spaces in the console command line cause Nexus changed it. So, remove those spaces in the ini.
