why the f*#@ does it have to be a modder that fixes this and not bethesda or AMD?, I am disturbed by this, thanks for mod

I doubt AMD has anything to do with this but yea, Bethesda, how you let this happen?

I just wanted to say that this does indeed "Bring Back the Sun!"

Worked on an NVIDIA RTX 3080ti
    [ViewDistance]
    fFarDistance=100000000
10 million... One less zero and it does not work. Didn't try other values.

    Thanks for the heads up!

I wanted to thank you VERY much kind stranger, because this bug was the one breaking the most my immersion, I was really sad about it, and you just came with an outstanding easy solution that perfectly fixes the issue.

    I love you!

    My spec :
    AMD RADEON RX 7900 XT
    Ryzen 5 3600
    32Gb RAM

For those wondering, I simply follow the instructions (added the two lines in each of the graphism settings preset files : low.ini, medium.ini, high.ini, and ultra.ini, all located in Xbox Games\Starfield\Content (that's the location for GamePass users)). You can open these files with a text editor like notepad, and copy paste the line at the bottom of each file.

But what if I don't use any of the presets? Presets only give you a ballpark of the settings, than you tweak them to your liking/needs, like, you know, every single person who plays this game.

Just put it in all the ini files that deal with graphical settings and hope for the best.
I use costum settings as well and somehow it works for me. ( I have these lines in custom ini in doc files and in high.ini and ultra.ini in game folder)

This is kinda hilarious to think, the sponsor's card which is AMD, has the most issues with the game, from not being able to play more than 5 minutes with Shadow enabled (yes not even low or pixelated can fix this unless it's disabled) to the sun outright not showing lmao

Hopefully someone comes with SFSE plugin or a fix from ENB so i can finally play this game in peace without visuals oddities and certain crashes

What is the issue regarding shadows? Is it a memory leak?

Can anyone confirm this works in the custom .ini?

Seems that for most people it works when added in graphic settings ini file in game folder.

I came across this fix on reddit the other day and I tried it with the setting in the custom ini and then also the prefs ini but it didn't work until I put the setting in the graphics preset ini files as well.

Edit: Oops, replied before reading further and saw that many others mentioned the same thing, oh well lol.

So I looked at the default value for this setting, and it appears to be blank for some reason. I guess it's supposed to automatically be set by the game when it applies a quality preset, but I guess it doesn't do that if you have an AMD or older NVIDIA GTX GPU. Regardless, the biggest gripe I had with this game has finally been fixed, thank you.

This worked with my 1080TI. It's not only AMD that has this issue. Nvidia 1k series also has this problem.
