Hello my friends! Starfield HD Reworked Project 1.0 is available!
As you can see in the video, first version bring many various high resolution environment textures but also reworked the entire crowd and some fire effects. Of course it's just beginning and further updates are planned. Thanks for support and have a nice day! :)
Bro your retexture even makes me want to play the goddamn game, even as it is, and even when i prefer Fallout 4. This is a professional like modification of the textures bruh.
So, this is only a texture overhaul. You'll know if it requires SFSE because the file contents will have a folder called SFSE, and contain files therein.
Blame consoles. We PC users end up suffering because Sony and Microsoft make consoles with weak hardware and the game devs are limited to what they can do. It doesn't help they release consoles every 5-10 years either. I suppose it's SLIGHTY better now that they release a little more often but still use shitty hardware. Just make a damn console that can have its CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD all upgradable. It really wouldn't be hard, and it would be less e-waste involved since it's just 1 little part vs an entire system.
Consoles are not to blame... please stop your "master pc race" speech. This mod, in TW3 and Starfield, don't affect performances... so why should it be a problem on consoles if you can improve the resolution without losing any FPS ? They didn't take the time to do proper textures in all platform, that's all.
SSD ? It's not at all an issue on consoles... in fact, Xbox Series are directly build on DirectStorage, and it's still not the case of PC except 3 or 4 games... GPU ? It's more powereless than a lot of PC users... just look at steam hardware survey, lot of PC gamers still have a GTX... 2 GTX on the top 3. Top 1 is a RTX 3060... 1080p is used by 61%... RAM ? It's 16 GB of DDR6... far better than most PC players. Graphics ? It's capable of Ray Tracing with native FSR, contrary to PC GTX users...
You may have a RTX 4090 or something like this, good for you... Xbox Series X can handle the game like most of "mid-range" PC, with a RTX 3070 for example. You can have 60 fps but the game struggle in some area (ON PC)... so they choose to limit the game to a constant 30 fps, because console players are more "binary" (it's 30 or 60, not 40 or 50). It's not a console issue, it's a global optimisation issue... when I see some 3080 users with a lot of problems, consoles are not the problems...
I don't know where did you get the info about this mod not affecting the game's performance but it absolutely does on medium-end PCs. Just have a look at some of the comments here. High-end PCs don't feel the difference because.... they're high end PCs.
Consoles have almost always been a bottleneck in games' innovativeness. But so do low and med level PC users.
"This mod, in TW3 and Starfield, don't affect performances". Yes, it does. Higher resolution textures require more VRAM. If your video card run out of free VRAM, you will experience heavy stuttering as the game engine constantly trying to load in the textures that are currently visible on screen and unload those ones that are not. If you have enough VRAM, this is not necessary because everything fits in the memory, no need for swapping. In fact, your comment couldn't even be more further from the truth. One of the big optimization task for developers for a game that is also available on consoles is to reduce the resolution of the textures until it fits into the limited VRAM of the consoles for most of the time during gameplay, so that console players do not experience constant stuttering. For PC only, this wouldn't be necessary simple because you can just set the texture resolution in the options so you can choose the value according to your amount of VRAM in your video card. So yes, consoles are the PRIMARY reason why many games have so low resolution textures by default. Luckily, for PC we have many talented modders who are improving textures for many games.
It is not a problem that you are not aware of basic tech details. It is a problem however when you are lecturing other people despite you don't even have the basic knowledge in the topic. Be humble and educate yourself, before making yourself look like a total idiot.
No idea why publishers stopped doing the high res pack dlc thing, it was a good compromise between making high res textures available for whoever had the hardware to run them and not making lower end pc users download extra textures they wouldn't use. Unless it's console makers demanding version parity I don't think it would be much trouble given that they most likely already have the high res assets available internally.
@BoSm3r you're on something to think a console has the power of a 3070. Maybe you're thinking of cases where it could have the same performance in an unoptimized game like maybe Jedi survivor. Consoles sometimes don't use settings that a lot of people on pc use on medium like SSAO. Consoles have an AMD GPU so the RT is the shadow thing that's hard to notice or they tank other settings to allow or it, but nothing even close to full lightning RT like in Cyberpunk. Consoles sometimes run at less than 720p (similar to the optimized upscaling setting in some games) and depend on TV upscaling to look better but increase input lag and shit. FSR has more problems than DLSS and offers a little less performance. Probably the mod doesn't ask for much vram because it isn't complete. My guess is that when it's finished it would ask for more than 10gb.
your point stands somewhat because you're right in that it isn't only consoles, but those are the main target. If PCs were the main target or consoles could replace GPUs (and maybe even CPUs) graphics would be through the roof because hardware makers would collaborate like in cyberpunk to incentivize upgrades. There would be more time and resource investment to optimize and account for hardware variability, probably, but that wasn't exactly the point.
I thought you could replace the SSD on consoles so no idea why he brought that up. Ram isn't that big of a problem except for games like city skylines where 64gb may not even be enough. Although 16gb may start to fall short, so maybe?
And yet, the one optimization complaint that cannot be made about Starfield is VRAM usage. Also, VRAM limitations are much more prevalent on PC than consoles. Consoles have 16GB with direct texture streaming hardware, and most PC users only have 8GB and rely on the CPU to decompress and move textures from the SSD to VRAM. That's why it's console ports that have the most VRAM issues on PC. The textures issue is not caused by the consoles. Bethesda could have easily included higher res textures. I have no idea why they did not.
Consoles aren't the biggest problem, sure it's a part of it but it's Bethesda and they're lazy. Just watch Red Dead Redemption 3 for example or other games on PS4/PS5, older games who look 100 times better than the "biggest Bethesda project ever".
This mod is completely awesome and dramatically upgrades the look of the game, THANK YOU.
Does this have anything that would apply to weapons in first person? If so, would it be possible to work in a fix for reflex sight reticles being completely invisible in chameleon/cloaked mode?
Installed this mod and got a weird bug where some faces were black and void of texture and when shot npc's armour went a gloss black. Anyone else had this issue?
Had it also on other mods and got it resolved. If you are using Vortex manager change from "symlink" to "hardlink" deployment of mods. Took me several days to figure this out.
(Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if my PC isn't powerful enough (RTX 3600 Ti based PC), but it struggle a lot with this mod. I also tested mods from SavrenX, it doesn't run better)
The author of this mod says that a graphics card with just 6GB of VRam should be enough (I think he's referring to 1080p resolution), although I'm a bit skeptical about that.
@Dosedela
(By that nickname, I would say that you speak and write in Portuguese).
Install GPU-Z. It's free and you can download it from the TechPowerUp page.
Open that program and, at the top, go to the tab that says Sensors. A large list appears. Look for the option what says VRAM memory and select the highest value option.
Leave GPU-Z open and run the game with this mod. Wait until you find a part of the game where it seems to be putting too much stress on your graphics card.
Exit the game and go to GPU-Z. See what was the maximum value that the VRAM memory sensor recorded. If it is equal to or greater than 8GB, then either disable this mod or buy a more powerful graphics card with more VRAM.
With the original textures maxed out and the resolution set to 4K, GPU-Z tells me that this game uses around 8GB of VRAM (sometimes above 8GB). If you use 8K resolution (I have an RTX 4090), this value slightly exceeds 16GB of VRAM. Since I never tried the game at 1080p, I don't know how much of the graphics card's VRAM is used with the textures set to maximum detail.
@pebblnexus The game literally never made it into the 6GB vram usage for me. It typically caps around 5.7GB, even with the texture mods I use (obviously no 4k textures).
Thanks for your replies guys. It's true that my PC is already 2 years old, which is an eternity in this world xd. And no doubt I ask a lot of it, mainly 4K gaming display on a TV in my living room, also tons of internet at the same time etc. That said, I wouldn't have expected it to struggle with this particular game @pebblnexus (although I feel it's badly optimised enough, but I could be wrong on that point). But I also set my video settings high enough.
Thanks @brown66 It's so nice of you to take all this time to give me a detailed GPU monitoring procedure ! This is actually a good idea. Also, I'm not a pro at optimization, maybe I should play in 2K even though my LG-C1 TV is a 4K screen...
I'll give an update the next time I'll launch SF (not playing much these days). Take care
PS : I'm from France @brown66, which isn't that far xd dosedela is a sort of pun I made up, it's not a real word (what makes you think of Portuguese ?)
I wouldn't call a 3060ti a 4k-capable card. But before dropping resolution, I'd try DLSS first with Streamline Native and 50% render resolution, equivalent to 2K for you.
My video card has 8GB VRAM, and when I use this mod and another one for improved textures, I constantly run out of free VRAM. I experience heavy stuttering when entering/exiting the inventory or map screen, and some textures, especially in npc models are not loaded in in their full resolution after exiting inventory/map. I'm playing on 1440p. So my best guess is that 6GB of VRAM is simply not enough for big texture mods like this one, and no matter how you twist it, it won't be enough. Just remove the textures mods and most likely your performance issues you experience while using this mod will go away. By the way, having a 4k tv doesn't mean you have to play games in 4k, just saying.
