Certain alternative assets aren't loading when placed in the game's Data directory. So far, I know for certain that modded textures aren't loading. Can't tell yet if it's also affecting geometries and meshes.
I have noticed this as well I cannot load some Loose file textures and I can't load ba2 archives. UPDATE The game loads geometry and Meshes from the game folder but not Textures. If they are placed in the Documents Folder they load fine. Ba2s are still not loading.
Any chance I could get your Discord name so we can talk?

UPDATEThe folder structure doesnt work with Vortex. If you include a DLL with an INI the mod will be split and wont deploy to the correct location. This is a known issue with Vortex.
Hi, This a great mod and I have been using it since it came out for Starfield. This recent update has been a tedious chore. I have hunted down various errors for nearly 150 mods and this seems to be the last one.
[ The following plugins couldn't be loaded or aren't compatible with the current executable: "LooseRootData.dll" - Not a valid plugin. See log for details.] When I check sfse_log, nothing is logged for looserootdata, just for the two mod plugins dependent on it.:
[plugin NonPlayableUnlockerSFSE.dll (00000001 NonPlayableUnlockerSFSE 10000000) disabled, incompatible with current version of the game 0 (handle 0)] [plugin StrippingArmor.dll (00000001 StrippingArmor 10000000) disabled, incompatible with current version of the game 0 (handle 0)]
I have deleted and reinstalled with Vortex and I have deleted and installed it manually
Hi, I just rechecked file names and versions, and they are correct. I even downloaded the file again and put the looserootdata.dll in manually. I even checked for the file's size compared to the file on your mod page file info. It does not generate a log file for the event, just sfse.txt and sfse loader.txt, I checked the time stamps, unless the logs are elsewhere. Now I'm running out of ideas. That means it's beer time.
following update i think loose root is broken when i launch the game it says :" "Loose root data (looserootdata.dll) reported failure during loading. Error message initialization failed:runtime exception (failed to hook GetFilesAttributesExA (kernel32.dll) The plugin wont be available if you continue loading do you want to exit the process? Yes/No"
Just wanted to share how excellent this mod is. I've been installing everything to the Data folder found in the game's root directory and several mods were not working properly prior to installing this one w/ the KiLoader and now everything works as intended and I am a Game Pass user. Thanks a million!
Hi, mate is there a reason that when this mod writes to the StarfieldCustom.ini that it writes this
Instead of this
Both work but even if the user has it already set up they are going to get the prompt when they don't need it. As everyone users the second pic without the spacers.
I love your 2 mods by the way mate they have been a lifesaver for my collection users. Regards v2
Hi mate the latest Vortex extension has now included a similar method to yours but as yours is written differently and users will get a pop-up saying the Starfield.ini isn't configured when it is. Is there any chance you can change the ini to read like the picture below. It would be much appreciated and save 1000s of my users having confusion.
I'm not quite sure I follow. The mod expects this in the StarfieldCustom.ini: [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=I never used the upper case version, so I'm not sure what the issue exactly is. I can make it case insensitive if that's necessary tho.
Sounds like a good idea, yeah. I'll let the mod prioritize root data folder files in the next update then. Going to add an option to revert to the old behaviour if needed as well.
Thats nice. Well here is a test for Game Pass. It doesn't work there. There was a chance but it didn't sadly. So it had to be said somewhere and what it does when it tries.
It was already stated, ONLY with STEAM VERSION was tested and works for sure. Which means, no console version, nor pass version... Which means, not gonna work either with console or game pass version, or perhaps works but with glitches, bugs... Which means..., you didn't read the description of this mod... Which means... Well...

Hi, mate I just have to say this has saved me so much stress. Thank you so much. It's now apart of my collection. And my users can now look forward to a automated install.
Hello. Please consider sharing screenshots of the following functionality, plus also an explanation of how the option can be enabled?
The plugin will optionally also warn you if your StarfieldCustom.ini isn't set up for loose file loading (and applies the necessary changes if allowed).
It doesn't look like it was mentioned in the mod's description.

Mod works fine with Manual install.

The first (lowercase) letter indicates the value type. A string is s, a boolean is b, etc.
It might make sense to just fix that value in your code? Or leave it alone if it's already set with a lowercase S?
It also might be safer to prefer the files in the game Data folder rather than the MyGames folder if you have the ability to make that distinction.

Thankyou for that mate I really appreciate it.
