as someone that has never used the reshade program before you did a pretty bad job at explaining what i need to do to set it up. its currently asking me for lots of different presets to install that were never even mentioned in your instructions
Put the preset (ini file) in your starfield install directory and then install reshade. When it asks to install from preset just search for it and click on it and it will install all necessary files.
Alternative: just install reshade. After finishing installing just drag all files from BLS map and replace existing files to your starfield install directory and launch the game. Press HOME to bring up reshade menu 👍 hope this helps.
Based on the screenshots I cannot see any lighter shadows. Just a small adjustment on the curve which appears to actually darken the transition area from black to lighter shadows.

It also creates an ambient oclusion effect if you watch around the terrormorph on the ground.
