I thank friends and users who use my mod. Hopefully it can be useful for your game. Meanwhile I'm working on another mod and can't reply to many posts so for now I'm locking it because I want to focus without having to check posts.
I just don't want to seem like I don't care about users because I don't reply to posts, but I have to focus.
Don't worry, I will reopen the post thread and bring new mods for Starfield after I finish working on my project. Enjoy this time.
For anyone who has Starfield on another drive or doesn't have much space on their main drive or if you don't want the headache of dealing with onedrive syncing your starfield mods (especially these larger ones) make sure your StarfieldCustom.ini contains the following:
[General] bEnableMessageOfTheDay=0
[Display] sPhotoModeFolder=Photos
(don't have more than one [General] or [Display] header)
You can now move all your texture mods to your starfield installation folder 'Starfield\Content\Data' or just re-install them with Vortex or MO2. Move any screenshots that you want to save that might be in the Data folder inside 'Documents\My Games\Starfield' and then DELETE that data folder. Now your textures mods should load in the game without using Documents folder
Vortex actually has built-in support for texture mods such as these now since the Starfield extension for it has changed the Documents/Data folder into a shortcut/pseudo-symlink so anything placed in the Documents/Data folder is actually being placed into the root Data folder.
Please help spread this since a LOT of the people making "mods" and people wanting to install these mods don't actually look at the fine details of their file structures or the changes that occur between updates on the game and mod managers.
@RevontuletCXVII They actually disabled that in the latest Starfield extension update because of Onedrive issues. I guess you didn't look at the fine details on the last update (lol gottem)
"22 September 2023, 4:46PM A hotfix (0.4.1) for the Starfield Vortex extension has just been released to temporarily disable some of the new functionality in version 0.4.0 which was causing unexpected issues for some users of Microsoft OneDrive.
In the hotfix, Vortex will no longer automatically link the Documents/My Games/Starfield/Data folder with the Data folder in the game directory. If this link has been causing issues in your setup, please delete the junction named "Data" located in your Documents/My Games/Starfield folder to break the connection. Please be aware that the next time you start playing Starfield a new Data folder may be created at this location and may cause issues loading certain mods. Please be aware that this is not a Vortex issue and is, in fact, one of the issues we were trying to fix with this update" https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14883
In theory... in fact, before the hotfix, I had a data folder in my documents, with few files... but that was IN ADDITION. Then, also before the hotfix, I deleted it after seing of mod instructions and put the stuff in bethesda main folder.
Since the hotfix, I have now a "sim-link" / "shorcut data folder in my documents, and my One Drive is full because of that... even if it's a shortcut... I never had this before their "hotfix". And I can't delete it from the sync because it's in my documents, so it's "vital" according to OneDrive. I have to sync ALL of my documents. So yes, the patch 0.4 didn't work, but the 0.4.1 hotfix did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to fix by creating the shorcut.
[EDIT] Was afraid of consequences, but I deleted it... first, Vortex didn't like it and my game was not managed anymore, I had to add it again and reinstall some mods like main menu... very weird.
This is irrelevant to this mod but Sarah is in my opinion the best looking female character that Bethesda has ever created. To add to that the voice actor is Emily O'brien who in real life is gorgeous and a multiple emmy award winning actress. Great work as always!
I am very confused about the installation. So are we supposed to use Vortex or do we drop it manually into documents? I don't understand the note about compression or CK or what that means
I don't know because I don't use that mod. For me document or original folder just the same. In fact I like the document system because it keep my main data folder clean.
But if you install your game on ssd and folder C on hdd ( document).... I suggest use that mod so you can install your mod inside your ssd too.
