so, it's officially begun. every time new material is added to creation club, game gets updated. and every time game updates, all sfse-dependent mods get broken. and yet, bethesda supports modding. go figure.
This update wasn't to add anything to the storefront. That updates in game entirely because it is now uploaded to Bethedsa's servers rather than downloaded as an update for the game. This was to fix bugs from the initial release of the Creation's release build.
It would be nice if Bethesda made updates available for modders a week before they're pushed for the rest of us. That would give them time to adjust so the experience would be more seamless for the community
It's not like it's just begun now. Every single time Starfield updated from the beginning, SFSE needed to update and therefore Address library needed to update. This was long before Starfield creations were a thing. Irritating, but it's the reality we have to live with. If Skyrim is any indicator, we'll be living through years of this.
While I agree in general, for the time being most if not all updates are going to be critical fixes (at least some of them hopefully lol, we know how Bethesda is with "fixing).
There are some serious bugs still to be ironed out with modding from Bethesdas side so we need them to update sadly.
They aren't obligated to support mods that aren't created in their Creation Kit, to be honest, but they let this kind of thing slide. This sort of thing has been happening since there was a script extender for any of their games, don't forget.
Ehh.. tbf, the game does need those updates. I cam back to the game after a 4 months draught, and I'm still experiencing bugs and finding I want more depth to most of the game feature / mechanics. I support them doing their updates. They are trying to space them out into big updates, so to minimise the work for the modding community. Some games release several updates a week. Fixed a bug, live it goes... the game with mods would be unplayable if they did that, so they are trying. but their priority is to their base game. They have to work on and improve that, as much as they can. I know the side effects of that can be frustrating, but I support their approach to it.
I think it's time to block Starfield from updating so I can continue playing without having to wait for mod updates. Then when a significant are (or my "base" mods), then I'll update. Not worth the headache for things I don't care about with these updates. Fallout 4 I probably won't update ever again; already got the story mods I want to try eventually downloaded along with all the other mods I like.
