I'll consider adding more features to it considering Starfield is a much bigger game than New Vegas.

What a great mod, doesn't work in newer versions...
Any chance for the update? :(

Hi, since the update, this plugin is causing my game to crash whenever I open a menu or hit a loading screen. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I'm wondering if this is due to the changes that came with the update messing up SFSE plugins or if it's just my setup.

Just tested it on the new update. Still works perfectly for me.

Crud... Then it must be some kind of conflict on my end. Shame :( Thanks for letting me know.

Edit: I tried using this mod again and it seems my game only crashes when I have bSaveOnlySitting set to 1. The other option I use  - bNoSavesInCombat works without issue.

I have the same issue. CTD when trying to access menu. Removed the dll and ini, problem was gone. Redownloaded and put dll and ini back in plugins and CTD returned when trying to go to menu.

You are correct woodiePL it is only when BSaveOnlySitting is 1 that the ctd happens.

Thanks for the mod. Sleeping should save the game too. What do you think about it?

I was using this with the Sitting option, but a lot of space stations and locations have chairs already, so it's quite cheesy.

Can you add an option to make sitting saving require sitting in our cockpit?

Another suggestion: Add a mode where saving requires 1 Digiframe which is consumed in the process, with a message like "You save the memory of your current location to the digiframes memory". This gives a resource-incentive and rewards exploration. This would be usable in conjunction with the other modes, so for example we could save when we want using a digiframe, but could still save freely when sitting in our cockpit, for isntance.

Huh. The first one is not hard and would just need to be brought over from my fast travel mod. The latter is also pretty easy, but I am not the biggest fan of hardcoding object lookups into DLLs.
I'll bring over the first one, the second one, I'll consider approaches.

OK so I think Digipicks are actually hardcoded forms, so, sure, I like the idea anyway.

      Not Digipicks, Digiframes :P

Also thank you so much for adding these :)

Ideally saving should require a new resource that's semi-rare (Digiframes are still quite common. I have found 10+ in some stations), but obviously adding new forms and such would require an esp and can't really be done in a sfse module, from what I understand.

I remember Fallout New Vegas had a similar mod which I absolutely love which requires you to find/craft Holodisks in order to save (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/69062), which are quite rare (you probably find about 1 every 30 minutes or so), and having something here would be wonderful.

I had another thought about this. Because of the way RNG works in this game, any sort of mid-mission save will always be exploity. This is because items are rolled when a character dies or when a container is first opened. This means that I can, for instance, save before a fight with a big enemy, and keep reloading until he drops something I really want.

This means that the digiframe idea likely won't work unless you were willing to also make a mod to replace the game's RNG system with a seed-based one, where a seed is rolled at game start and saved with the players save game, and all rng rolls work based on this seed + some other deterministic value (such as the instanceID of the thing doing the rolling), so that loot is randomised in a deterministic way, resulting in no save rerolling.

I was actually interested in possibly making an SFSE mod for the RNG stuff, but I don't know where to start. Got any suggestions?

Thinking more about this, even "save in cockpit seat" isn't enough because we can still cheese space battles. Maybe if we could only save in the cockpit when not in combat.

There's already an option to not save in combat, though

Sir, you are a legend, for the UMMURSIVE overlord race!
We DESPERATELY need this for Baldur's Gate 3, though.
