I also cannot get this to work. I've done manual mods before, and I even SEE it in the '\Documents\My Games\Starfield\' folder when I drill all the way down to C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\actors\character\facecustomization\starfield.esm folder.
So here's something puzzling, it actually worked one time when I loaded the game. She was there with all her makeup on and it was glorious. It hasn't happened since though. Any clue as to why the game won't load the mods sometimes? Again, it did load at least one time that I know of.
It was just suggested to me to go into your "file explorer" on your computer, go to "view" at the top, and make sure "file name extensions" is checked. I believe it worked for me having made sure about the location of the ini file and the data folder. Good luck.
@daftshadow As you can see from the screenshots I sent, I play pretty long time ago with this mod. And NO, you don't need data folder on the C drive, within the Users folder. If you put data folder both within the Users & the Steamapps folder, that doesn't make sense at all. Since if there is a Data folder within your users folder as well, then that's overwrite the other data folder (I mean, the game itself give priority to read the files from that data folder, which is within the users folder, if you have and the game can find a data folder there too, not only within the Steamapps path.), which is within the steamapps folder. You only need to put the texture files for mods where the game is installed, within the steamapps folder and make sure you DON'T have another data folder within your user folder. If it's still doesn't work, then possibly you still missing another mod, which is long time ago also available. Download and use that another mod, which is called Baka Disable My Games Folder . But for that to work, you also need 2 other mods to be installed properly: Address Library for SFSE Plugins & Starfield Script Extender (SFSE) Nuff said
very good mod, although i have the problem that her face skin color does not match the body color (body is more pale). skintone borders are just beneath the collarbone area. any ideas on how to fix this?
..Most favourite face/makeup mod for Sarah BUT that color mismatch just so bad when she is in her swim suit at the beach on Paradiso for example. :)))
Anyone can tell how could I try to fix it? It can be done in Photoshop perhaps??? I want to be able to match her skin/face/neck color with the latest version of the No Bras in Space skin mod. :)
Wish I could do that. But it's not that straightforward unfortunately. Sarah's face texture is in one of the 'Texture.ba2' archives you can find in the game folder under '\Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data'.
There is a whole lot of textures and it's hard to find out which texture belongs to what character, since they are not named but numbered. You can find out the right number though by opening the console in game and click on an NPC. Since I didn't know that back then, I took a look at the file structure of one of the other Sarah makeover mods. You can do that by clicking on 'Files' tab and then on 'Preview file contents'. Feel free to give it a try in the file section of this mod.
Then you need a tool like Bethesda Archive Extractor (https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/165) in order to extract the texture. Just drag & drop the correct 'Texture.ba2' archive from the game folder into the editor and search for the file.
Then you can export and edit the texture to your heart's content. Hope this helps.
Oh - you can also edit NPC faces (and whole appearance) via the ingame console, but that's more complicated and has a couple of quirks. Might be better to wait for the creation kit if you plan to do bigger changes.
alright this definitely helped, but I think you're right that to edit the character as thoroughly as I was hoping to, the CK is kinda necessary. The changes I've been able to make just look kinda wonky lol. Thank you for the help!
I found that you can alter npc faces with the character customization, but yea I think you either have to adjust it every time you start the game or set up some script to have the face load every time.
Yes, that's perfectly right. I have edited some characters that way and have such a script in place, but sometimes it doesn't really work. Happens then that all reworked characters load with my character's face. Hilarious, but annoying. Loading again solves this most of the time and I do enjoy the reworked faces / appearances. But man, do I look forward to the creation kit. :D
I really like the “improvement” you made to Sarah. Great job thank you. The only issue I have is that if I try to install a clothing mod for Sarah to change her outfit, she remains in the default outfit. I can trade another outfit with her and get her to wear that, but not a modded outfit. Any ideas why the outfit is not working? Thanks.
As another person for which all other mods worked fine apart from this mod & sprint headtracking bug fix mod both of which are documents Data folder mods instead of game root directory Data folder mods. I got them both working by manually typing out and creating a new StarfieldCustom.ini & deleting the old one. Issue was caused when i made the first one i just copied & pasted the needed text from a mod page which caused invisible characters not displayed by notepad to be saved in my ini file which only became an issue when trying to load mods from the Documents Data folder.

My mesh folder is in: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\my games\Starfield\Data\meshes
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
A shame Starfield modding doesn't work out well for everybody currently.
Thanks for any help.

Glad I could be of some help.
Cheers for the mod & endorsed.
Hope this helps others as well. Kudos!
