It sounds like it uses an adaptive combat music system similar to how the last two Zelda games handle music selection. While the implementation would not be the exact same way, it would probably help would-be Starfield music modders to look at some BotW/TotK music replacers to get a better idea of the file system design principles at play.
Hey, it's interesting what you wrote together :) I also have a question. For some time now I've had the problem that my combat music only starts when I'm fighting in a ship. Nothing happens in normal ground fighting. Do you know what that could be?
Edit: okay, I think I figured out what it was, I had mod armor on it that was pretty strong. After I took it off and set the volume controls to 0 and then back to 100, it seems to work.
Edit 2: okay... nvm no idea why it works and minutes after it stoped working
Sorry but I don't. I believe that the combat music for space battles and ground battles are the same, so logically if one isn't working, then neither should. I also have no clue about coding so idk, can't help much. I've been having an issue where the combat music will loop endlessly and never stop till I reload a save.
Have you solved this problem? I'm trying to create a battle music mod and encountering the same problem of music looping endlessly. I've attempted changing the vorbis quality, toggling various options on and off, even matching the overall length of the music to the original, but nothing seems to help.
Hmm. I was going to see if could figure out how to add some of the combat tracks from Prey 2017 but it's looking like it'll be easier to wait for the Creation Kit to come out.
Hey, I've been beating my head against the wall trying to convert some bebop jazzaudio files to work. I got it all set up, and the battle music just... stopped working. Imassuming this is a size/quality issue but idk, a bit of help would be appreciated for figuring out this conversion process.
By stopped working do you mean it did work but then suddenly stopped at some point? Or do you mean when you installed your converted files the battle music just straight stopped working?
First you need to go to your Starfield root directory which is located on whatever drive you installed the game on (Starfield.exe is located there). Once you're there you will place the wem files into Data/Sound/Soundbanks. If you don't have a sound or soundbanks folder, just create your own.
I believe the only things that don't work from your root directory are textures and morphs. Pretty sure the one in My Documents should work for music too, but I haven't tried it so can't confirm.
hey sorry if i'm bothering you but the songs i used to replace the game's songs don't even work still even though i replaced half of them. what am i doing wrong? or am i missing something?
edit: never mind, seems like it works now. turns out i converted the files with the wrong quality
