Hey dear Briala, since Andraste's amazing first hair mod arrived to give the Sarah-Hairstyle a certain length, I was wondering if you'd consider adding this hairstyle into your perfect haircolor mod variations? It's totally fine if not, please don't consider this as rude, I was just a bit heartbroken that it doesn't look so good together now :D . Thank you again for this beautiful color anyway! <3
I've already had a look at this for myself, and have no idea how to fix it! Haha. If that changes I'll definitely upload a fix for it, though - the longer hair is so stinkin cute. ;;
(Also you're not being rude at all, quite the opposite!)
So the fix for the Andraste LongBob is actually mostly easy.
Extract the choppy_hair_shared _(ao/id/opacity/zoffset).dds files from Starfield - Textures02.ba2 using BAE or BAMgr.
Make a copy of the choppy_hair_shared_tealcolor.dds file from this mod.
Rename all of the files extracted/copied from the previous steps so that "choppy" is replaced with "evenbuzz"
Add all of those files to your mod organizer's staging folder* for this mod.
*I personally extracted all of the "choppy" color.dds files myself to fix the issues with vanilla hair colors at the same time, so I put all of the files from step 1 in the folder for the LongBob instead for ease of conflict management with other hair color mods.
Thanks for the mod, Briala. Does anyone know how to change the hair color via console command? All I found was "showlooksmenu player 1" but that forces recreating all features, background and traits. Yes, I'm too cheap to spend 500 credits.
The Vortex installer is broken. It installs to Starfield\Opalescent\data instead of installing to Starfield\data. Manually fixing this works, quite charming, great job.
Love this mod. It's so cute. Though would you be willing to maybe create an optional file that replaces a different color? Teal is my favorite color and id hate to lose it as an option. :'(
I don't have access to my pc right now, but you can actually do this yourself really easily! Just change the colour in the name of the files - for example, swap out "teal" for "violet" in the filenames and they'll switch to replacing the violet colour.
If you do that, though, make sure you change the "choppy_hair_shared_tealcolor.dds" to "choppy_hair_shared_violet_color.dds" (note the extra underscore in the latter).
Oh gotcha, no worries i totally understand. I really appreciate the quick reply and being patient enough to explain. You're amazing, thank you so much! ^^
would you mind telling me via pm, how you found out which parts have to be non colored(non wrong colors on the skin), and how i can replicate that, to make a different hair color mod?
Honestly - it was just trial and error, haha. I don't mind you copying my colour placement for your own mod if you like it, but failing that - try colouring each section of the texture in a different colour, then taking a screenshot to use as reference, maybe? It's the best we can do until nifskope or outfit studio or something is updated for Starfield, unfortunately.
I made an edit to make the Opalescent replace white hair and I kept the spelling error and it defaulted to regular white until i added the underscore. Seems like it was an Bethesda error.
I love this color! Thanks so much.. i dropped an image and its in a darker environment but honestly hands down better than any of the original colors. I will definitely get more screenies in different lighting!
Soooo, I was using the hair in ur third display image before, yesterday I switched to this mod color, it is quite amazing, however I noticed that on this particular hair theres a lot of black or dark grey strands on the top, so I went into the dds to check. Based on how some of the maps have more black then the other, does it mean that, if I find which texture this hair style uses, then I go into ps to brighten the b/w portion of the image, I would result in less black strands? Or would I be in risk of losing details because the filter lowers the definition of the strands?
I'm pretty sure you'll be fine lightening it to your taste! From what I can tell from my amateur poking around, these are just colour maps and the detail itself is contained in other textures.
I gave up, it seems that the color profiles are shared around, I couldn't quite find which one is responsible for the dark gray strands on image 3 hair since all of them look the same except for buzz and afro... It takes too long to white out each small patch and load through the hair style in enhance and see what it affects. I play in fpp so its almost never noticable anyways.
Beautiful hair color! So excited to use it! Unfortunately I cannot get it to work. Not new to modding at all, but it seems that just dropping them into the documents folder won't work.
