Anyone know why when I put a .ba2 file into the extractor, I see literally nothing? As in nothing shows up. It's just a blank white background. It does this with every file it can take.
The next gen update is the culprit. The latest version of Archive2 makes files differently and BAE cannot read them for now. You can still extract archives via the Archive2 utility, but keep in mind it flattens texture that have mipmaps.
Also, vortex needs to be updated as well since it cannot recognize those new archives and shoots a warning.
Thanks and sorry. I didn't see a tab on the FO4 BAE page where I could make a comment or bug report and I was getting desperate. Since there's no error message and it was partially working with no apparent pattern I really didn't have the slightest clue.
The new .dds format doesn't import correctly with pre-'CC' Photoshop, it imports as solid black. Without having to shell out for Photoshop CC or other paid software, the one free editor I found that does work with them is Paint.net: https://www.getpaint.net/download.html . Worth giving that a try.
Use that to convert the extracted textures from the newer compression method to the older uncompressed. How to: Use LiteView and right click on the image to convert to .dds uncompressed. Only issue is it's a 1 texture at a time ordeal.
Came back to add that I've just purchased Photoshop Elements 2024, the MUCH cheaper cut-down and non-subscription version of Photoshop CC, and found that the new .dds files work with that. You just need the latest dds plugin from nVidia: https://developer.nvidia.com/texture-tools-exporter . Download 'Adobe Photoshop Plugin' and although it says it's for Photoshop CC, it works with Photoshop Elements 2024 too.
I have few ideas for mods, but there is just one problem with BAE - It does not launch.
All I am getting is "Application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized" And I am no newbie with computers, so I have a pretty extensive collection of programs for special purposes 🤔
BAE is a tool, a standalone executable program, not a mod. So trying to install it with Vortex wouldn't work. Just extract BAE's zipfile into a folder somewhere convenient on your computer and run bae.exe. Hope that gets it working for you.
Thank you for your continued work. I've been posting on my descriptions that people should come over to this page, download the extractor, and then endorse. Even if you have no intention of using it, so as just to show appreciation.
Thank you very much, I have been using your program for many years. I would like you to add the ability not to reset the search filter, sometimes I search in which archive this file is and have to constantly type it again. By the way, there is this in the Bethesda solution.

Any ideas? Thanks.
"Thanks a lot" guys.
Who made BAE, should mention in description that IT SHOULD be installed by Vortex, NOT extracted manually.
Otherwise it will NOT work.

Hopefully other modders will do the same for their mod pages.
