Turns out an update to Vortex is breaking certain kinds of mods and this is one of them.
You have two solutions:
You can set Vortex's deployment method to Hardlink Deployment instead of Symlink Deployment, which should put your Starfield mods in your default Documents directory, rather than linking it to a file located on a different drive.
OR
Wait for the next extension update for Vortex. Reportedly, it should be fixed then.
I have updated the description to convey this information too.
Still working heckin' good, with the recent game update 1.12.36 ! \o/ ♥ EDIT: Yep, still workin' hella awesome, with new Starfield Update 1.13.61 ! o7 ♥ EDIT: Heck yeah, still going strong, with the new Starfield Update 1.14.70 ! o7 ♥
EDIT: Woohoo, still working as advertised, with the recent/new Starfield Update 1.14.74, hella nice! o7 ♥
You using a mod manager to install it? Maybe your mod manager is not configured properly?
Manual install is pretty straight forward; just drag&drop one folder into the location specified.
If you want to avoid placing things in Documents/My Games/Starfield, it is recommended to use Baka Disable My Games Folder, then all your modded files will be in one main directory (Starfield root game directory).
Maybe you're having a mod conflict? Or didn't install a Requirement correctly?
Just an info: In Vortex mod manager - If you have 'Mod staging folder' set reasonably - on drive where your game's files / Steam library actually are, and you set Vortex to use Hardlinks, then all mod files will still be installed in the correct game directories (eg. X:\Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield\Data\..); Not on System drive in Documents.
I have vortex set that way. And this part of your installation instruction really confused me :)
Installation (Vortex):
Set Vortex's deployment method to Hardlink Deployment instead of Symlink Deployment, which should put your Starfield mods in your default Documents directory, rather than linking it to a file located on a different drive.
I must've misinterpreted or poorly summarized the information. What hardlinks do is keep the file on the *same partition*. It's where you get onto linking across different partitions that problems arise, which is the reason why specific instructions had to be made.
What hardlinks do is keep the file on the *same partition*.
I do understand the situation and the system. (Simlinks are able to link across drives and partitions. Hardlinks can only link inside one partition. Plus the two have other different properties. Etc.) I was just letting you know there are cases where your instructions can be a bit misleading and confusing.
