sir, there is a bit of a flaw in this plan: the wakazashi is not a katana. The wakazashi is a shortsword version for use in areas where the katana would be ineffective and/or clunky, like a tight hallway or small room. In layman's terms, a small ninja sword, because the layman does not know what anything outside his country is unless it is taught to him, or he finds out about it.
Does only the appearance change? The melee weapons in this Bethesda game are truly terrible. There isn't even a top tier. I think the katana's abilities need to be increased. thank you.
Yes just the texture for now. Once we get the starfield creation kit though I could make a plugin file to tweak katana stats, or even make new variants.
Katanas weren't particularly solid or durable compared to western swords, if that's what you've imagined. They look nice, which is their primary feature over other swords.
I think in starfield the gangs in Neon, and like Ryujin and the Syndicate are kind of very much about style. They kind of feel like they have a real space yakuza vibe, so I do think for them it would all be about intimidation, rather than effectiveness.

Combine your star powers with melee, and you can make it work. Slow time and slash them up, void dash to close the gap and increase damage.. etc...
Also, if you have a mod that uses a bat file, you can add this to it
player.setav meleedamage 2
this will increase current damage as a multiplier, increase for higher damage. Can be set in game as well through the debug menu. Just FYI, this only lasts for the current session, if you don't use a bat file mod that loads every launch, then you will have to manually set meleedamage each login.

Since heavy ranged weapons still have x4 dps
Does it start feeling better as you spec into it? Or does it just do more damage?
