Hi, I hope you you enjoy Permanent POIs - Darkness Beckons

Please come back and endorse the mod if you like it.

    Changelog

    0.93
     - Fixed the spawn points so you shouldn't spawn in the middle of the location
    0.95
     - Changed the 1st legendary slot of Ashes to Ashes to Lawful (not bashing)
     - Changed the barrel of Boudicca to be longer (you may need to re acquire weapons via console "help 0pv 4 weap")
    0.98
     - Added the "Fiend" faction to Volii. They can be looted for Chasmbass oil and Hallucinogens.
     - Removed unnecessary loose files from loose version. Complete reinstall of mod required.

    Tips
     - This does not conflict with other POI mods in any way because I duplicated each location/worldspace.
     - There are some some issues still. Please report bugs here because there are too many locations to test.
     - I removed the archived version for now because I think it wasn't working.

    Bugs/ToDo's

     - Some locations still have civilians (fixed)
     - Spawn points for many locations need moving (fixed)
     - First soldiers seem too weak (actually no)
     - Tweak some stuff on two weapons
     - Tidy up the enemy spawns in some locations
     - Add some lore for the bosses and faction

I have uploaded an archive (BSA) version of 0.95. Please let me know that it works ok.

Edit: The archive does seem OK - thanks to DownfallNemesis for the assist!

I discovered that some of the loose files are not used by the game engine, so those folders will be removed in next update. Complete reinstall will be required.

I installed the new archive fie version (dated 6/24) I saw an earlier post where you said there are 2 on Volii Chi. from orbit there are no markers. it seems to me in the earlier version I saw markers from orbit, although I might have been mistaken. So I then went back to Jaffa ii
and landed, no markers again, so I landed where I did the first time (It was marked because I had been there) the POI seemed to be there and correct it was labeled 'Magnolia Wind Farm'. I also went to Lantana III and landed at my previous marker and found a 'Deserted Research Post' it was correct. not sure if the markers are supposed to be there but it seems you corrected the floating issue!
let me know if I found the correct POI's. if you can give me a specific system/planet/POI Name. I will be glad to check it for you.
hope this helps. this mod looks very interesting to me. Keep up the good work!!

    Polvovoss, sorry to bother.

Amazing mod! Based on some of the comments here, it seems that the most stable version is the archived one (0.95), right?

I honestly don't for sure because I don't know what a .btd file is or how the game loads it but the default is to use bsa. From the next version the bsa version will be the main and the loose file will be the optional.

Just wondering whether possible to add random enemy spawns with them driving vehicles? I reckon it would add more immersion to Starfield...

Well I'm a newbie modder so I'm not sure. I'm using these projects to learn about Starfield modding. There are obviously NPC patrols with markers so it might be possible to have them patrolling further outside the POI. No idea if the game engine could handle them driving vehicles though.

Thanks for the insight, you maybe right that there's limitation in the game engine because pretty sure similar mod would have been implemented already.

So I see updates but no version number changes?

That is not ideal for people who use your mod with mod managers.

I spent some time testing this today. I created a brand new character.

I tested the archived version and visited sites Copper and Xenon. Both were missing terrain and were basically not playable.

I tested the loose files version and visited the same sites. Before exiting my ship I had stutters during landing and stutters inside. However, both sites were rendered properly!

I unpacked the BA2 archive and compared it to the loose archive. I didn't see any difference, which leaves me stumped.

So, the archived version is broken but doesn't cause stutters, and the loose version works but causes stutters.

Just wanted to add that I did some more testing.

I tried creating my own BA2 from the loose files. I did not enable compression. I thought that might have an effect.

I ended up having stuttering in the ship AND missing landscapes, although different from what I saw previously.

I will have to remove the archive version again... I tried two different programs for archiving them. My guess is terrain files need to be archived a different way. I will need to ask for help here on discords. I'm sorry the loose files version is causing stutters. Personally I haven't experienced stutter or frame drops.

Hi you could try adding "PermanentPOIs-DB - Main.ba2" under [Archive] in Starfield.ini

No I'm thinking it could be my naming convention with the "-" causing the problem. If not that then the wrong format.

      Edit: That doesn't work

Thank you for the report, Tao.
Commendable work from the mod author. Sadly, I can’t afford the stutters — at least for now. I’ll wait a bit longer until it’s more stable.

Running the loose files version isn't the source of stutters unless your hardware isn't up to par. I got this running with Grind terra encounter mods and biomes alond with Bedlam and double enemy x2 and have zero stutters using polvovoss POI mods. And i'm running starfield on a 9900K intel with a 3090ti.

Well it's not the mod. Everyone who downloaded it would all have stutters. Engine fixes has a setting to help with that too. Also have noticed adding POI mods in middle of gameplay causes stuttering.

What's with the loose files?  Isn't that a really old school way to package a mod? I notice you did that for your last POI mod (Evil Beyond) as well. Is there some benefit to loose files?

I am going to upload an archive version in a while. I uploaded one but someone had issues (floating buildings etc) so I must have done it wrong. I don't think there is a benefit to loose files but there should be no problem. Both have always been used afaik.

I think you really need to get familiar with BA2 and switch to using and testing BA2 over loose files. My understanding is that loose files can cause issues... particularly with load times and load order... and it's just not the right way to package mods anymore. Get rid of the loose files option. And please upload a proper BA2 version of your other POI mod.

There might still be minor issues with the archived version...
Fun though, took ages to fall to the bottom of a big square hole. Then I drowned.

Is anyone else encountering stuttering with this mod?

I added this to my load order today and I started getting stuttering inside my ship and outside at the Santillan location. I was able to visit two new POIs before that without stuttering.

*UPDATED: I did some more testing and it seems I have stuttering inside my ship from some other source, possibly Lazy Scav? Not sure.

Did you use the archived version I took down? I put up an archived version but someone had issues and I just assumed I did the archive wrong and took it down. I'll upload another one again soon.

I had stuttering until i switched to the loose files version and it went away. Even engine fixes didn't help till i installed the loose files which works fine. Not sure why some think loose files don't work properly, never had a problem. Although packed BSA's are supposed to reduce stutters.

From the reading I've done it seems BSA is more important for distant textures when it comes to loading times. I still want to get this fixed though and have both options.

Would this mod still properly spawn the POIs when using high POI density mod that increases POIs on the planets? I've yet to see any using it so far and i started a fresh new game.

These are hand placed. The two systems don't interact.

      Here are some locations:

      Porrima III (three POIs)
      Jaffa II (three POIs)
      Lantana III (two POIs)
      Volii Chi (two POIs)

Hope that helps. They should show as "Structure" until you explore them on foot.

I downloaded the ba2 dated 6/22 went to Jaffa, found the structure floating above a giant hole in the ground. I have not tried the loose files download.
    hope this helps...

This is great -- I profiled your last two mods in my last weekly Starfield video.

Would you consider publishing these as an esm plus ba2 archive, rather than all loose files? I manage mods with Vortex but overall it's easier for many players to only have to move an esm plus one or more ba2 archives. Thank you.

Just for explanation, I mod manually on Linux, so having everything in esm and ba2 makes it much easier.
