I noticed that it was now incrementing, but still started at 1,2,3…14,15, even if you manually renumber the filenames.
To fix that I removed all my saves since the 1.15 update from the save folder, then opened a pre update save from May 14th and resaved with the latest 2.0.2 , which correctly continued numbering 2585, 2586, … I could even move back in some of my newer 3,4,5 saves and it correctly resaved them as 2602, 2603,…
Just fyi, with version 2.0.0 looks like it still works on the game pass version, but gives this pop up during the loading window before it goes full screen. I just clicked ok, and the messagbox along with the starfield loading window disappeared, but the game loaded eventually and looks like everything is working with achievements enabled and without duplicating quick/auto/exit saves.

Like I mentioned above your comment, if you are on the Game Pass version of the game you can just disable the RunInBackground setting and the error won't show up at launch.
If you could send me the game pass EXE, I can generate a signature that works on both.
EDIT: Nevermind, I had someone give me their XBOX login and I downloaded the GamePass binaries. Even if you wanted to, extracting the EXE required several bits of nonsense that laymen Windows users wouldn't understand. I submitted a PR to fix this issue.
Yes, current version. Just weird that it worked fine before and now when you launch game window disappears and it pops this screen up and doesn't launch until you click it.
Then nothing happens and game starts.
Tried to see if anyone had similar issue and it doesn't even pop up in a search for same error which I thought was odd lol
There is a setting in sfae.cfg that determines if SFAE should create a command window, it is disabled by default. If you want to turn it off set ShowConsole to false in that file.
I can agree the popup can be annoying, however, just to play devil's advocate here, I do get WHY perhaps the popup was done. In previous versions in the past for this mod, and other Achievement enablers, it has always been a common question/complaint that no one could figure out if it was actually working or not. SOOOO ... the popup kind of proves its working. Was it necessary? Probably not. But with the number of complaints and posts asking, "how do I know its working?", I get why we now have the popup.
At any rate serverimp thanks for your work on this mod.
Mod is working ...achievements are enabled. However, it screws with quickloading. You can quicksave the game via F5, but you can not quickload via F9. Manual loading works.
Thanks for doing this, but personally I've accidentally hit f9 when I'm aiming for f8 or f10 enough times that I disable quick load in every game I play.
gir489 I have been testing since your post below at 6:55pm, and its not working for me. I am going to do a few more checks and tests with the file listed above and get back to you
ok gir489, saves are working as expected, trying to test the achievements so give me about 45 mins because I am at 357 organic resources gathered, and I am going to try and get the 500 organic resources achievement. I will run around Jemison to get it. Give me a few.
gir489 good news. Saves are working as they should. Quicksaves are making new ones, and replacing the old one. New saves are numbered correctly, as are autosaves. AND ..... Achievements are working as well. I just now got the 500 Organic Resource achievement.
Great work. Your file Release.zip is what I used, and it seems to be working

Added backgroundCheck1 for GamePass version. Thanks to gir489
Tested and confirmed working as of 2025-06-10 on game version 1.15.216.0 (Steam).
Verified using console commands, .esp, .esm, and Creations mods.

I will upload version 2.0.1 that adds this to the popup, and also makes it only care about this error if "RunInBackground" is set to true in sfae.cfg
I updated and get this "error"? but then game starts but doesn't instantly pop up.
I havent installed any new mods and it was fine yesterday.

Once in game everything works fine I believe.
A question: Is there any way to disable the command window appearing on the desktop when you start up the game?
If you want to turn it off set ShowConsole to false in that file.
I already had 'ShowConsole: False' in the cfg file. Turns out it WAS the SFSE command window I was seeing as gir489 suggested.
All is good now, cheers.
Yeah agree, we don't need a popup when everything is fine.
At any rate serverimp thanks for your work on this mod.
Below is the build from the github action. Can you please try it and see if it fixes the issue for you? It did for me.
Release.zip
Thank you very much.
Release.zip
This should fix some issues people are having with saves overwriting themselves. However, I was unable to test if achievements still work...
Great work. Your file Release.zip is what I used, and it seems to be working
