Importing the Ship
- First you need to install Transfer Spaceships Across Universes and the required mods listed below.
- Place the TXT files from this mod archive into your \Starfield\Data\SFSE\Plugins\Spaceships directory.
- Start your game and load your preferred save.
- Go to a ship builder terminal/NPC and make the ship you want to replace your Home Ship.
- Edit and save the ship. Any change will do, even just paint.
- Open the console and run the command ImportShipLayout FireflyA
- Save and exit the game.
- Restart the game and load your save.
- You should see Serenity on the landing pad. It may have sunk into the ground at this point. Don't worry. Open the ship builder and edit your ship. I find that the import changes the paint, so highlight the whole ship and make all 3 colors the dark grey in the quick color panel. Save the changes and exit the builder.
- That should do it. They say you should fly the ship manually first before doing any fast travel. Just taking off into orbit should suffice.
The directions above are for the A-Class model of the ship. Use the command for the version you prefer, so...
ImportShipLayout FireflyA
ImportShipLayout FireflyB
ImportShipLayout FireflyC

Ship Notes
(+) I used the Useful Cargo Habs mod option to keep the vanilla mass and add 250 cargo to each storage hab. That mod should be optional, but you'll lose 1000 cargo from the build. Easy to replace by adding another cargo Micro Module if you prefer using companionways or want to use other 1x1 habs in those spots.
(+) The builds use Micro Modules for Reactor, Grav Drive, Fuel, and additional Cargo. While there are ways to squeeze the vanilla modules into the actual builds, doing so will sacrifice elements of the design. You can check out an earlier version of this build in this video to see it in detail without Micro Modules.
(+) It's a really big ship to run around in, and most of it is cosmetic. I recommend using a mod like Alternative Cockpit Access to make getting around easier. Quick jump to the cockpit by pressing Q on a ladder.
(+) Because of the pieces connected to them, the 4 crew cabins on the wing deck really want to be Nova Galactics. All the others jut out in boxy ways that fugly things up. The 2 crew cabins underneath are more hidden, so those're the ones you can go nuts with. And if you like decorating, you can use an empty Nova Galactic hab for all of them and do whatever you want.
(+) There's two empty 1x1 cargo habs at the top of the ship that I added to fill out the body. There's no ladders going up there, but with the Useful Cargo Habs mod it adds 500 cargo. If you don't mind adding another ladder, you can make that space functional with whichever 1x1 or 2x1 habs you like.
(+) The differences between the A/B/C class builds is mostly the engines and the corresponding reactor/grav Micro Modules. The A has the two White Dwarf 3015's in the rear and two Decorative Novas on the wings. The B has a Decorative Supernova in the back and two Nova 1050's on the wings. The C has a Decorative Supernova in the rear and two Supernova 2200's on the wings. So you can start a new game with the A ship and pay to upgrade as you go.
(+) I left the same weapons in for each build so you guys can swap in what you like. Keep in mind that Micro Modules has supplemental reactors in the Equipment section if you need a bit more oomph for your favorite loadouts.
(+) I am aware of the Firefly VTOL Engines mod and I love them in other builds, but I had some issues using them in this one. First, if you connect them to the body of the ship, they're too close; and if you put an extension in between, they stick out too far. Also, they're very big and Serenity's engines were pretty small. The sweet spot would be bigger than White Dwarfs, and a bit smaller than the Novas, with a single, centered connecting point. One day someone'll make the perfect engine for this. In the meantime, I like the B Class version of 2.0, with the Novas on the wings.
