Enjoying the Mod? Show Your Support! Creating this mod has been a labor of love, and I’ve put a lot of time and effort into making it the best experience possible. While scripting comes easily to me, I’m still learning my way around the Creation Kit, and every update is a learning experience!
If you enjoy using this mod and would like to see more updates and new features in the future, please consider endorsing it. Your support and feedback mean a lot and help motivate me to keep improving and expanding the mod.
Want to Help The Panda? I'm seeking a couple of people who have great people skills to help moderate Posts, and the Discord channel. I also am seeking someone with an X-Box who can let me know that something is broken as soon as they spot it.
Thank you for playing, and I truly appreciate your support!
If I ever come across as unappreciative of bug reports, I sincerely apologize. I don’t always respond in the best way, and social interactions aren’t my strong suit. I do my best to maintain a professional attitude, but sometimes I slip up and snap at people. It’s never intentional, and when I realize I’ve been rude, I try to edit my posts to soften my tone and be more considerate.
I ask for your patience as I navigate this. I deal with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and PTSD, which can make communication challenging at times. Sharing my work publicly is a new experience for me, and I’ll admit that I struggle with the fear of my work being taken, repurposed, or passed off as someone else’s original work without first gaining permission. After 45 years and multiple coding projects being hijacked or stolen, I think anyone would be a bit paranoid.
That said, I want to be clear—I truly appreciate bug reports and user feedback. My frustration is never with the reports themselves but rather my own difficulty in handling certain situations. I never intend to be rude, dismissive, or uncaring, and I will continue striving to improve my professionalism.
Again, I apologize if I’ve come across as a jerk at any point. I appreciate your understanding about this and the continued support of the mods I release.
I'm excited to share the latest developments on Lazy Panda, a project that's still very much alive and under active development. Although progress may be slower than expected due to my involvement in another project, I'm committed to delivering the best possible experience for this community.
Upcoming Release: Lazy Panda 2.1.0
I want to assure you that Lazy Panda 2.1.0 is indeed on its way, but I'm taking extra time to refine and polish the update to ensure it meets my high standards. This new version will feature significant improvements, including:
A redesigned looting framework for greater accuracy and efficiency
Comprehensive version management with automated update handling
A professional logging system for easier debugging and maintenance
Creation Kit improvements, including a rebuilt plugin with enhanced performance and organization
These updates aim to provide a more efficient, customizable, and maintainable experience for my users.
Current Status
I'm currently utilizing new tools, some of which I'm developing, such as a Papyrus linter, as well as techniques to identify and address potential performance issues and code complexity problems. This process may take some time, but it's essential to ensure the long-term stability and success of Lazy Panda.
Future Plans
Once the next game patch is released, I will upload a corresponding patched version of Lazy Panda. This will ensure that my mod remains compatible with the latest game updates and that all users can continue to enjoy a seamless experience. Additionally, I will make sure that the existing versioning system updates cleanly, providing a smooth transition for my users and keeping everyone on the same page.
Looking ahead, I have a number of exciting features and improvements in the pipeline, including a new pickpocketing system. While this feature may not be included in the upcoming 2.1.0 release, it is a priority for future development and will be implemented in a subsequent update. You can also expect ongoing optimizations, expanded modular capabilities, and greater player convenience in future updates, as I continue to refine and enhance the Lazy Panda experience.
Thank You for Your Support
I appreciate your continued support and patience as I work on Lazy Panda. Your enthusiasm and feedback are invaluable, and I'm committed to delivering a high-quality experience that meets your expectations.
Thank you for being part of the Lazy Panda community, and I look forward to sharing more updates and progress with you in the future! 🐼🚀
For starters, I wanted to say thank you for this mod! I tend to hyperfixate on looting, making sure that I’m not leaving anything really important behind (mostly keys and skill mags). But it becomes so tedious that it gets in the way of enjoying the game (definitely a me problem). This mod completely revamped Starfield for me, and saved me from myself. So thank you!
Having said that, I am also currently experiencing the toggle problem. Changing something in one filter category flips toggles in other categories as well. And sometimes it takes multiple clicks to flip a toggle at all (I wait several seconds in between each attempt to be sure it isn’t just lagging). I have attempted to change load order, start a new game, reinstalling the game, and starting a new game with this as the only mod installed. It persists across all iterations. But I am on Xbox (possibly a factor?), and am unsure how I would share logs if I were to enable the logging. However I can best be helpful in this area, please do let me know. You can’t fix a problem you can’t replicate/see.
For now, my workaround is to just turn everything on. Then I manually turn off junk. Then I keep clicking buttons in the other categories to turn back on keys, skill books, credits, and digipicks, and going back to keep turning off the junk filter until whatever items that are sacrificed are things I don’t mind doing manually. It leaves almost everything on, so slows things down a bit. So I keep the radius at 8, and occasionally have to stand a little longer in high density areas. It is still way faster and less tedious than manually looting. With all of the extra loot, adding the portable vendor allows me to trim down my inventory quickly when I need to. And then using a mod to reduce resource weight keeps me from having to constantly call the vendor to manage my inventory. The end result is pretty satisfying, and frees me up to enjoy the core of the game itself.
I can relate to the social security disability hoops. So please take your time. You owe us nothing. Thanks for sharing what you have already. If I can help in any way, I’m willing. If there are fixes down the road I’ll be over the moon. If not, I’m still incredibly grateful for what I’ve got. Best of luck in everything you’ve got going on. :)
Hey, thanks for the kind words — seriously. I'm glad the mod's helping you enjoy the game again instead of getting bogged down in loot hell. That means a lot.
As for the toggle issue, yeah, I’ve seen a few reports now, but I haven’t been able to replicate it myself. The menus weren’t touched between updates, so I suspect it may have something to do with the latest game patch or how Xbox handles menu states. I’ll be digging into the menu and the code soon to see if it’s something I can fix on my end. If I find the cause, I’ll try to push a small patch before 2.1.
Speaking of 2.1 — that update is in the works and it’s going to be a big one. I’m breaking up the massive 500-line loot script into smaller, engine-friendly pieces to boost performance and stability across the board. The goal is smoother looting, fewer hiccups, and less script stress overall.
For best results, I recommend keeping everything on (except junk, if you don't want it, and possibly space looting if your ship is being looted), with a loot radius between 8 and 32. 64m is experimental — it’s there for folks with monster rigs or lots of patience. I personally run with everything on, and that’s how it was designed to perform best.
And hey, thank you for understanding the SSDI stuff and mental health priorities. That kind of support means the world. I'm doing my best to get this all squared away soon — and updates are coming. Stay tuned.– Ganja Panda🐼🚀
Patch Requests, Mod Speed, and Respecting the Process
I’ve gotten comments from a few individuals privately, regarding the speed of updates or patches. Here’s where I stand:
If you feel like I’m not moving fast enough, you are absolutely welcome to create your own patch. However, I reserve the right to incorporate any external patches into the official mod if I feel they align with the vision and quality I aim for.
That said—this project is not a team-based sprint. It’s my work, and it evolves when my mental health and real life allow.
If you’re here for the ride, I appreciate your patience and support more than you know. If you’re not, feel free to patch it. But don't pressure the process.
Thanks to everyone sticking around and letting me breathe. You’re the reason this still gets done. – Ganja Panda 🐼🚀
the last update has some issues , first it keeps changing the looting choises , u set something on and changes to off in almost all categories and randomly , second when i installed the update it didnt replace the old one but had to uninstall the old and install the new and then the problems started , with the old all where ok .... hope it get fixed cause the mod is awesome and a big helper
I apologize for this, but I tested on a new game, and a existing, and didn't see any of these issues. I will continue testing to see if I come across it.
I have the same problem. Also, if you turn on your filters, it just ignores some items, even though they are enabled. Sometimes it seems that the radius doesn't work and the largest one is always used. If you use the Collect Everything function, there are no problems, except that it takes a very long time. It seems like you need to use a small radius and faster item search, this option would be better than a huge radius and huge pauses, although I don't know why this is done, maybe it gives more performance.
When I have time to look into this I will. At the moment I'm dealing with a severe insomnia issue. But when I get time I will look into whats going on. I have not experienced any of this.
It may seem strange, I sometimes changed something in the filter settings and as a result, everything has been working smoothly and stably for the last 3 days of the game. Thanks for the mod.
Thank you very much Panda, you are an enlightened person, I hope you receive all the kindness you give us doubled by bringing us this! I, as a person with a disability, have trouble playing with just one hand, but your MOD saved my gameplay and brought a bit of comfort to my life. About the new things and changes, do like me, don’t pressure yourself too much. I often have to do things little by little. That way I can complete big things.
Thank you for the kind words. Things are slowly settling back to a baseline of “normal,” whatever that means these days. I'm hoping to get a few personal projects off the ground soon so I can shift focus back to Lazy Panda. Usually, once something’s in motion, I can juggle between fixing, patching, and evolving things as needed—it’s the launch phase that eats the most bandwidth.
Right now, my plate’s full: a horror project, a therapy-focused 3D print line called UnCared Bears, the website, Lazy Panda, Disable Actor Collision, side work on other people’s mods, and about a million ideas screaming for attention every minute. Once the mental noise quiets down, I’ll be back at it full force.
Thanks again for your support. It really does mean the world. — Ganja Panda 🐼🚀
I second that Thanks! I have noticed improved performance with the update. It slows down a bit when looting corpses and still not looting contraband, but overall it seems more consistent. I look forward to the next iteration.
Thank you for the kind words. Its a on going project when I get a few moments of clarity to get things updated and fixed up. Once the mental noise calms down I'll be able to get some real progress made. For example, flagging corpses once they have been looted so the system doesn't keep trying to loot a body thats been stripped, swapped and looted, every time a new loop starts. Clean up events a bit better, and break apart a 500 line scripts that I wrongly assumed the engine would be able to deal with.
I'm also deal with moronic bullshit from Social Security Disability because I allowed it to be Achievement Friendly and now make royalties off the mod. Not much mind you, but enough to cause issues with social security disability. I have an appointment later today to try to work all that out, and keep moving forward.
Thank you for your continued support even though its buggy at the moment. — Ganja Panda 🐼🚀
Why is 1.11 sorted under 'old file' even though it is younger than 1.06 being 'main files'? Where is any 2.0 and above? I see them mentioned in the changelog but cannot locate any download.
this mod needs its own localization files. makes me guess my own edits to games localization of items can be a source af failure here. ie: i put an ! in front of personal favorites, Q for questitems and shortened item tiers to (T1)-(T5).
Localization support is coming in version 2.1 and will be designed to work for everyone. If someone wants to create a localization patch for a specific language or setup, they’re welcome to reach out — I just ask that they be a native speaker. If it's solid work, I’ll gladly roll it into version 2.1.1.
As for making a version tailored to your custom edits — like your symbols for favorites, quest items, and tier labels — I’m afraid I can’t commit to that. I’m juggling a lot already and haven’t actually played the game since releasing the mod, aside from testing.
I do all of this solo and for free, with the occasional help from Ahplla, who’ll also be helping with the upcoming localization work. But beyond that, I don’t have a team or funding to support one-off builds.
I appreciate your understanding — and your creativity with item labels, honestly. It’s cool to see people customizing their experience like that.
your mod is very good very helpfull and its a great tool , one thing that annoys me is that keeps looting fire distinguisers and card decks when i am in my ship even if i disabled the junk loot and the unnamed , it loots only those items and keeps looting them constantly cause they respawn i am in a starborn quardian using the following mods Buffed Starborn Spacesuits & Guardian Spaceship https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4752 Furnished Starborn Ship https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/8009
It should not be looting your ship. The patch I'm going to release soon as I can get in game to test, should fix that. IF you do not want these items to begin with turn off the junk filter.
With the recent update it seems a few things have been made more complicated. Has your development process been effected at all? Do the new tools you're using/creating make it easier to adapt to changes like this?
Great question—yeah, the recent update definitely complicated things. It broke a bunch of stuff and forced me to redo work I’d just finished, including plugin dumps that were ready for AI ingestion. So... fun times.
The tools I'm building will make adapting to future updates easier, but they're not done yet. Between setting up a new dev box to match the VPS, maintaining the website, building AI systems, and managing the mod framework itself—I'm juggling a lot. And it’s just me doing all of it.
A minor patch is coming soon to fix some issues, but the full 2.1 update is still in the works. Once Address Library gets fully updated, I can finally do proper testing. That said, early feedback from folks not using SFSE or Address Library suggests things mostly work—just a few minor issues. As soon as I can get in-game, I’ll polish those up and push an update.
I’m burning out a bit, but I’m powering through. I’ve been learning new tools (Blender, LLM engineering, brushing up on Python) to support the long-term goals for the mod and AI tools—but right now I’m shifting focus back to the mod itself to get things moving again.
I appreciate everyone’s patience. I know it’s taking longer than expected, but this is a one-person show. I’d love help, but I can’t afford to pay people—so here we are.
If you stick with me, 2.1 is gonna be worth it. And there’s more coming after that.
Thanks for taking time to respond. That definitely sounds like a handful plus! But it also sounds like an interesting process. I'm fairly confident I don't know enough to be of use, but I wish you well and want to send some positive energy your way. I hope you find the strength to persevere and develop the processes to prosper. I'm confident the next version of the mod will be awesome and I look forward to what's next.
Right now I’m just waiting on Address Library to update so I can jump in-game, run tests, and get a patch out with a few fixes. The dev box is fully set up, and I’ve started on the website/forums while I wait.
Progress has been slow but steady. I’m putting all the side projects on pause and shifting focus back to Lazy Panda for the full overhaul. If all goes well, a new test version will be out soon.
I know I keep saying “it’s coming” — and I mean it. It is.
There’s just a lot happening for what’s technically one mod… even if it sounds like ten. 😅
