Do you consider working on the back piece that connects to this hab? The one used on Juno's Gambit. I've always loved that ship, built it once, but missing interior and no connection points made it unusable without having vanilla habs on the inside.
Making a back piece for Juno is a tricky one at this time for me. For that I would have to figure Nifscope, Blender, archive extractor and more additionally to the CK, in which I already have troubles. At this time I just figured what I all need to alter the textures as well, but that's gonna take me a hell of a time. But it is considered. I made a building tutorial for Juno which I'm going to publish, soon. But also with custom interior, made out of "vanilla" habs. Cause sadfully Juno won't work with the Hex-Delta interior without that mentioned back-piece.
From my understanding, Navmesh is what tells the NPCs where they can walk. If you don't have it, only the player can walk through these areas and the NPCs on the ship will avoid/not walk through the hab without navmesh.
Edit: I see in one of your pics, that Andreja is in there so maybe you did navmesh it but didn't realize it lol
I duplicated the interior cell, I think, or it seems that it was already nav-meshed. Yeah, companions can pass through the hab. And already blocking the hallways, thankfully there are now 2 of them. ;-) But there is nothing else in there, not one interior crew-marker. Don't really know what to do with all that space. Thanks for the heads up.
i believe they can walk around, but they don't do it with any logic, its sort of drunken wandering as no "navigation", especially if they spawn into a no nav mesh area when you load into the ship.
Your right, it seem to be the case that the cell isn't meshed. I think that's why they block the hallways in stranger behavior. Gonna update this tomorrow. It's 3 am where i live. c ya. good night.
These look cool as hell! I'm excited to see what you do with them. You said you're looking for suggestions.... I'm not sure if you've seen/like Firefly, but using Serenity as inspiration would be really cool as putting a pair of these together fore and aft creates a great base to make a similar style ship.
Otherwise, I'd say try to imagine it as a truly functional ship. Cargo at the entrance so you don't gotta lug it too far. Vehicle garage up front near where it spawns in. An infirmary at the entrance level so the wounded don't have to navigate stairs. A brig on ground level and near entrance/docker for streamlined transport from entry to cell. Maybe the docker has it's own airlock room? Battle stations and Captain's Quarters right by the cockpit. Bathrooms, bathrooms, bathrooms. Small rooms for Elite crew, and dorm bunks for the rest. Maybe a laundry station? Hydroponics room to grow food on long expeditions.
From the way you're building it, you can do so much with these, and could even make a batch of them with themes: Exploration, Cargo/transport, Luxury, Military.
Whatever you do, I'm excited to see what you come up with. My primary suggestion is just to think of functionality and practicality of how a crew would use these habs on a real ship as if it were a mobile home.
You wrote some good stuff. I love Firefly, even got some comics.
But I'm not quite sure if I get that right about fore and aft pairs. There is an alternate reversed model in the TN''s Class-M mod, especially made by TN. But this part is only empty.
I already tried to build a ship with pairs of these and it looked like a bug right away. But sadfully the snappoints on the top and downside are just generic snappoints and not meant to make a connection. For this I would have to figure Nifscope and Blender additionally to the CK. I will try that one day, but not yet.
I will edit the fore version to a good all-in-one concept. With most things in mind, like you said. But I'm not gonna make an also a reversed model with the same, mirrored or alternate interior. Don't get me wrong, but editing a hab like this is gonna take quite some time anyway. I think this is the reason Bethesda only did this one hab, this far. You could abandon your life and stuck in this forever.
But it should be possible to build a ship with my fore and the TN's aft with custom interior habs. In the custom aft you could also build a connection with docker and bay to up and down.
I will make video for my short update, show some tricks how to place a glitched docker and bay, that actually won't glitch. And showing how to build a good custom interior additionally to my fore hab with Matilja's elevator and whatnot.
And you may happy to know that my what I'm doing to the atrium right know, comes close or similar to the serenity.
I can see some possibilities with this hab, lower level for security/brig and connections for landing bay/docker, maybe some workout facilities, upper levels for engineering and berthing…an all in one for larger ships. For those liking huge luxurious ships it could be a nice atrium or “nature” hab…but I tend to do smaller ship stuff so I personally find the appeal in the all in one idea for a “compact” large ship build.
I decided to make it a good all in one. Every Constellation member is getting his own room + some extra crew quarters, Capt. quarters/jacuzzi, Armory/workshop maybe i add the Rev-8 in there, medical bay, hydroponics, bar, gym. Already remodeling the interior and straiten out the basement for more rooms then I'm gonna figure where to put what, depending on the space. Need to figure how to get the brig doors to function.
DP Aerospace is the name of that mod , is this meant to only work with with the other pieces of the mod ? I tried to make a ship with your nose section and other parts from the base game and other ship mods , but it just kept giving me error messages and wouldn't let me complete it ?
Usually it should be possible to make a connection to any other hab. No matter if it's a vanilla ones or not. Did you also try to make a connection with Passways from "Place Doors Yourself" on the Aft. I forgot to mention that. Did you watch the Video? Sorry for my bad English.
