I can't get this mod to work. I pasted the data folder into \Documents\my games\Starfield\Data still isn't working. I didn't have a starfieldcustom.ini file in this directory so I created one and put said contents in this .ini file but still didn't work. I used Vortex but didn't work either. I even copied everything from the \Documents\my games\Starfield that I changed and placed it all in its respective places in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starfield
I have no idea what I am doing wrong. The bounty hunter suit I have on still is the same color and I even added a new bounty hunter space suit to my inventory via console command and still the vanilla color. I think the problem is that I didn't have a starfieldcustom.ini in either directory.... I am missing something but I don't know what.
Never mind. The custom.ini file was needed to be downloaded separately from another modder. Even though I created the exact same ini file and placed it where it needed to be... Either way, it's working now. Thanks for the mod!
I recommend first getting familiar with Mod Organizer 2. The reason being, it has the option to extract .bsa / .b2a archives. In order to find the textures you want to replace, you'll have to extract the correct archive.
From there, you'll find the required file structure for the texture and the textures itself. It's important to keep this structure, or else the game will just use the defaults. Start with something simple, maybe the constellation suit. Edit the .dds file, add a random line with the brush tool across the entire thing and test if you can see it ingame.
You'll need a photo-editing program like Photoshop to edit .dds files. In addition, you'll need NVidia or Intel's Texture Exporter tool/plugin to actually load .dds files.
If you can see your changes in-game, gratz, you've gone done it. Now, to learn about mipmaps, lods, normals, etc.
Starfield is quite similair to Skyrim and Fallout 4, even more so Fallout 4 judging by the records I've seen in xEdit. Could probably try and watch a tutorial for Fallout 4 and see how you can apply the things shown there to Starfield.
This bounty hunter one is a great recolor but it comes out as a washed grey/charcoal in comparison to other black recolored mods like shocktroop, vaarun, etc.
cant get this to work no matter what i do, vortex doesnt work, manually downloading the file gives me a notepad, taking the folder vortex downloads and putting it in one or either or both data folders doesn't work literally nothing ive tried has mad this work
Can someone guide me with better instruction than on the post? I am sure the help will assist all those interested in this mod. (No offense to the mod author)
