Just want to say thank you for this great work. A real Starfield milestone. Now only EVA missions and repairing a satellite are missing for now. Thanks again for this work.
I just have a few questions: are enemies / events outside of your ship triggered once you open the airlock or can they happen at random, like pirates invading your ship while youre inside just chilling? Are these spacewalking enemies in the vicinity of their own ships or are they like space zombies lost in the vacuum of space?
If these guys just spawn if you open the door, it would be counterintuitive for your character to open the airlock at any point, specially considering the damage it does to your ship. It would be just for funsies.
Also, would be cool if enemy encounters only happened in star systems which are not policied by factions. I guess the video demonstration with the pirates happens in the orbit of jemison, which is weird.
I have two ideas for events if possible
#1 : Small space stations being raided by The Crimson Fleet trying to break in to take the station as their own base, Player has a choice., Player can ether help The Small Space Station by taking down the Crimson Fleet ship first then jump out to take out the remaining CF to make sure there is no more damage done to the Space Station and gain US Rep OR side with the Crimson Fleet and help them to Kill, Loot, and gain Rep with CF. **(Race against the clock to take out CF Ship before the raiders brake in.)** #2 : A ship form ether side US or CF could be stranded outside their ship making Repairs and you have the choice to jump out your ship to Help them Repair or Take them Out loot them and their ship or possibly repair the ship and take it for yourself. **(Could be Simple item to make "repairs" like Battlefield Blow torch/Lazer Torch)** P.S #3 : Could be like you Fast travel in and there is after math of US vs CF battle and loot is scattered everywhere and US or CF are out here trying to haul back the loot from the wreckage and you can try and help loot it or go guns blazing and take it all for yourself
interesting mod, i love the idea. i found the laser turret and the bottom airlock, but cannot find any of the other airlocks. i wonder if it might conflict with my other mods. the first time opening the airlock, ive seen a huge fire blaze right outside it as well and it was followed by a group of pirates jumping me inside my ship. lol
i would love to see that the outside shell of the ship is not pass through anymore, so that there is actual collision and i wonder if it wouldnt be easier in the end to simply make the standard bay or docker we already have accessible when in space instead of placing additional modules for that. in a real spaceship like we build in the game, i dont see a reason why we wouldnt be able to simply step in the bay, close the door behind us and open it up to walk outside, thus leaving the ship with proper gravity and go for an EVA and/or being jumped by floating pirates trying to enter the ship. :-)
I added them as "Flips" (otherwise it was getting messy). So pick a style, automatic or manual and use the flip key to rotate through the various options.

This bit can't really be helped without a very conflict prone overhaul (I've gone into it a bit elsewhere). Tldr, the game wasn't designed with "walking in space" in mind.

There already mods that achieve fast travel (via doors) EVA effect. They preserve interior gravity and are definitly worth checking out. This was more about "can we walk right out of the ship?" Unfortunately, cell wide gravity loss is another issue that can't really be fixed.

I had an idea for my ship that I was sad to find out didn't work. I wanted to make it so that you could go outside the ship and float around and come in another airlock. However, it doesn't seem to be working. Is there any chance of getting support for multiple airlocks?
It should work, that's one of the main features (and half the code lol). I've had a half dozen on a single ship while testing the various door types. The logic there is pretty straightforward.
For anyone wondering, after talking with GoArray in discord, it was discovered that I had an older version (with a different name mind you) still installed, and that one had loose scripts overriding the ones from the newer version. Vortex never caught the conflict because they had different file names.
This a great fun mod but I was thinking if was at all possible to only put the player into to zero g animation at anytime rather than the whole cell? This way you could bypass the boost pack for flying and just fly around any environment with the zero G animations.
I don't know if its doable without putting the whole cell into zero G but maybe worth a shot.
