In my head in my head Canon there is a metal bulkhead in between the halves  that would drop down in case of emergency or decompression,
whenever you destroy ships in space battles, you never see any doors in-between the sections or open habs, you only see a close off hab sections as wreckage

But what if we get an oxygen leak in one of the habs?!? 😨

Wearing a spacesuit 24/7 is rather impractical, uncomfortable and unhygienic. Astronauts only use them on missions outside the ship.

I think you should look at "The Expanse" series. Before the battle every ship will vent all air because that's will make you burn in case you are hit... or worse explode... So no doors on battle ships, only maybe in civilians, still...

Good news everyone, if you want to keep the doors in your ship in case of a breach, but don't want to have to bother with opening doors, you can now use Open Ship Doors!

Yeah, in real life subs and spaceships, hatches between sections of a ship make sense, but in Starfield, where we've never once experienced hull breaches and having to deal with the  consequences, internal hatches make no sense. Thanks for doing this!

Yeah, I think habs having doors makes perfect sense and I've got no problem with Bethesda's implementation, I just wanted something a little different.

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe a mod that just sets ship doors to be open by default would be a nice alternative...
I'm going to look into that.

What if there's a fire in one hab and we need to seal off the others and vent the oxygen from the affected hab? This is just asking for trouble.

Lol, well your crew would hate me, because I use my boost pack inside my ship all of the time in lieu of ladders.

      Thanks!

I was surprised to see no other mod like this originally, though it seems like Place doors yourself will also remove doors.

yah but unless you have an engineering degree in watching YouTube videos Place doors yourself is not straightforward to use. Similarly, for everything else not in a ship... I find I don't want to play the game without Quick Airlock Doors, but somehow I've only found a mod on Creations that does this. How is everyone else chill about the (realistic TBF) time it takes to cycle airlocks...

I'm sure I remember downloading a mod that shortened airlock times, back around the time when the game first released, but I can't find it anymore

It seems like it should be pretty easy to speed them up, just need to find the right "DOOR" type forms in the CK and add a "animgraph_animspeed" actor value to multiply the animation speed

the audio would be out of sync with the opening animation thoguh

I broke my game with the update :) so I'm left to musings for now.
could we, for example, use this mod along side place doors yourself, whereby all the doors are gone but we're still able to place ladders? or will place doors yourself nullify this mod?

Already a mod for this. Place doors yourself https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/6601
It's a god send for your home ship.
Regards of other ships you board it's a minor inconvenience. But it's tolerable for immersion

I haven't tried Place Doors Yourself, but it seems we implemented things somewhat differently.

Place Doors Yourself does seem to have a lot more options for those that want them.

Will this remove all doors or just vanilla hab doors?
If it can remove doors from all mods it may be an alternative to place Doors yourself.

PDY doesn't always work 100% on modded habs, even with the patches.

Also, does it remove cockpit entry doors also?

It *might* work with some mods that add habs, if they re-use base game door assets.

      But no guarantees.

This does remove cockpit entry doors.
