Please be reminded that you have to install this mod before starting a new game or before entering the Unity. It won't work properly otherwise.
Please use the Bugs section to report any bugs, like changes not occurring.
Bald or inconsistently skinned NPCs are to be reported in a special bug thread called NPC REPORTING THREAD and should be reported there.
If you feel like giving a little of your time to help me: - go to the Bugs section - choose a bug that hasn't been solved - check in your game if you're having the same bug - add a reply to the bug in which 1. you answer to the questions I asked in the bug report, and 2. say if you're having the same bug or not.
Finding that some npc's are bald. Not all of the modified ones, just some of them. And they are bald in a funny way, like I can see traces of hair around their 'scalp'. Does this mod not play nicely with other mods that add more hair styles? I'm just starting a NG+ right now, tried a few load orders, putting this mod below and above the hair mod (starfield hair + beards from creation), always get baldies :( I didn't intend to do another NG+ after this one so I guess I'll just have the vanilla universe.
This mod is awesome. I'm looking forward to more mods like this coming out that make alternate realities different and worth exploring. I have yet to do NG+ since the game came out because I didn't see the point. Because of mods like this, I'm starting to change my tune.
Just a heads up, once you download the mod, all the NPC's appearances will change right away so you might not want to activate it until right before you go through the Unity.
I love the idea of this mod, and was very excited when I saw it; it looks like it took a LOT of painstaking work, and appears to be exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for/expecting in the vanilla game!
My only issues are that since it's not a full master, and since it relies on the recently-added Bounty Hunter content, it is impossible to make patches for, or even to edit directly in XEdit. XEdit does not allow editing ANY files with these dependencies loaded, and even without them, it doesn't currently allow editing of anything other than full ESMs for Starfield, and will not allow them to be masters. Actually, it won't even fully LOAD with this installed.
I recognize that this is a limitation of the most popular patching/editing tool, and NOT an inherent flaw in what looks to be a wonderful mod, but it does present a barrier to many of us. I'm going to try it out, regardless, but I'm apprehensive about not being able to look at the contents with XEdit first, and I anticipate that it will--of course, since I can't patch it--overwrite my height and weight randomization, the extra perks I added to companions, etc.
EDIT: Hm. Apparently I can't use this with MO2, because MO2 disables SFBGS004.esm. Again, not a fault of your mod, but it simply doesn't work with XEdit or MO2. Pity, as I was looking forward to using it. :-(
Hi and thank you for the info. In my other recent mod (Chunks) I took care of not including SFBG004. I chose to make it a small master because full master seemed to create performance issues on my computer. I can create a full master for you (and remove bounty hunter edits) if you want to test it.
Thank you! My goodness, I wasn't expecting you to do extra work on my behalf, but sure, a full master without those dependencies would be absolutely lovely! I can rush through the universe I just started (literally, I'm like an hour into the playthrough and still on my Starborn ship at Narion). It would also benefit others who use XEdit and MO2. If sfta01.esm can also be excluded from the masters list, that would make it possible to patch and edit.
It's still fresh in my brain RAM so it'll be easier for me than for you... Expect to find it before this Sunday. I'll upload it to the files page. How should I label it? "Full master for modders"? Or maybe I should just post the ESP file so you can mess with it on your own?
Strangely, I don't experience performance issues anymore with the full master version. So I'm going to release a real update on the main file. I've quickautocleaned it with xEdit and it says nothing needed to be cleaned, just so you know. I did not remove the bounty hunter stuff for this one, but I'm making another with only vanilla forms right away.
I was at work earlier so my answers were incomplete. Here you go:
I use the Random NPC Heights mod and I do load it after my mod of course. If you have custom NPC heights and they're obtained by console commands instead of a mod or a bat file, you're gonna have to do it again. This mod does not touch most NPC heights but it comes with FCT, chargen and mesh files so I don't know how your setup will behave. (However, the Chunks mod does change heights for most if not all of Constellation members iirc.)
Thanks! You're a champion, mate! The Tracker's Alliance stuff MAY prevent some patching and editing (until Elminster and co. update XEdit again)--we'll see--but even if it does, I can at least I can look at it and patch anything that uses vanilla assets. I'm downloading it now!
EDIT: Looks brilliant so far! The Tracker edits don't prevent XEdit from doing anything. Building a patch, and I'll try it out this afternoon/evening (as toddler permits). Cheers, and looking forward to many more alternates!
Played through, and it's great! Everyone is still themselves, but looks just "off" enough to give me a roleplaying reason to hurry through. My only caution is that since you made a couple of black characters white, you may want to make an equal number of prominent white characters black, as racial diversity in gaming is still an issue. I'm not questioning your motives--I know you were just looking to change things up.
About to play through the Chunks universe now. :-)
EDIT: Might I suggest a fitness nut/sports-obsessed universe, in which a large percentage of (but obviously not all) people are either jacked, or obviously into fitness in some other way? Like, Tuala would be a BEAST, as would many military and security personnel, Sarah would probably be about the same, as would Noel, but Sam would have arms like tree trunks, and perhaps Andreja would be built like Simone Biles. Maybe Matteo would be built like a distance runner. A lot of folks with closer to average builds might be seen in tennis-wear or other sports gear. Lots of exercise equipment could be scattered around as set dressing.
Thank you for the interesting suggestion! I have the will for more different universes but I'm lacking ideas. All Base NGPM mods like this one will be no-themed; themes will happen in Add-ons like the Chunks one, and the next Add-on is going to be around a feud over facial hair style between UC and FC. We're still weeks away from that now as I'm working in parallel on the Base B mod, which will indeed have white people turned black too, although I think a couple already exist in this one.
Edit: the sporty universe idea is appealing. It's kind of sad that you can't push the sliders very far. For instance, Vladimir (the original one) is full muscle so that's the max you can get.
You're doing what Bethesda was too lazy to do. Hopefully one day you can make alterations to quest lines some how, and make it so that every user has a different experience from one another. But that's a task that I don't want to burden you with. This is enough for a modder.
I do have a strong intent to create quests, but I want to create more variety in this area first. At least 5 NGPM Add-Ons (I've published one and going to start on the second, need ideas for more) and one more NGPM Base (maybe that one will be modular using several files which load order changes appearance combinations).
I decided to try a brand new game from level one. Go through the first sequence and meet bald Heller and clean Linn. Go to the lodge and meet the new gang... Walter and Mateo with new hair on the lips, porker Noel and then I see her....... Sarah with her new hair looking all good. We go to Mast and then set off for Mars. Into the frontier we go and take off from Jemison. I decide to get up and then I see it. Sarah is BALD. Try a quick save and reload but she remains bald. Carry on to mars and land on the planet. Myself and Sarah set off for the underworld and as we enter I hear her say "building Cedonia underground is a smart idea". We enter through the airlock, take off our helmets and, you got it, there is vanilla Sarah with her conventional hair and looks. WTF. Now you might say that this guy is making this up. Why would I? At 67 years old I really do have better things to do so no I am not making it up. Just passing info on to the mod author.
Ok I may have figured out a mod conflict with the mod Soul of Cities. I found that in New Atlantis I was getting missing/invisible clothing on the npc's in the crowd as well as Sarah reverting to vanilla. When I had missing clothing I did a quick save and load to fix it. I believe this is what reverted Sarah to vanilla looks. So I uninstalled Soul of Cities and Sarah is now stable. I know this is a lot of work but do you think you will be doing another variant any time soon. Just asking, not pushing.
I intend to produce many more universes. It takes a lot of time indeed, but there is already one add-on out there (Chunks; it will definitely conflict with SoC though)! Here's a link: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/11504
Your first comment had me look into many things and I am now slightly more confident about my mods. They did have inconsistencies at the time that are solved today. Keep hunting for more!
Ok here is the situation I have, Unity +7, just restarted a vanilla world. Sarah was the only one I have met and installed just after the mission return to Vectera. Sarah is as per vanilla. Lin has a tidied up hair cut, still dirty. Heller is bald but looks cleaner. Barret is bald, trimmed beard and still too gay. What put me off is that Sarah never changed and so I thought the whole mod was a bust. It is working, except Sarah, and that might be because I have already met her. Will let you know if the lodge crew have changed soon. Well done sir. The predictability of the game is what will eventually kill it. Oh and I agree that ALL Bethesda games are a modding framework. Now if they would just keep to the same format on each update we would be golden.
Not a complaint at all, in fact loving all the changes I am seeing, but Sarah is not changing. I am sure this game is alive and is telling me it would be too weird to change her now. YOU'VE CREATED A MONSTER. I mean that in the best way. Have left her behind in another cell and when I come back she is still the same.

WOW feel like I just wrote a book. Just some observations on the mod. I always thought Vladimir had an eastern European accent. Never understood his darker coloring so your change is logical. I almost fell of my chair when I saw Walter sporting a full moustache and Mateo trying to keep up. Well done on that one. Noel is a porker. No wonder there is never any food in the lodge. Guess with everyone running out all the time she may be a bit guilty of comfort eating. Keep up the excellent work and I hope my mod order is of some use. Sarah is still the same but I really don't object. Her choice I guess.
That's 126 mods, which is quite a lot. Try to change your load order and put mine right after Community patch if you can. But after that doesn't work, I don't know.
Its ok. Only Sarah is affected. All others are appearing so if the leader, who I already met, doe not want to play then that is not a problem for me. Love the mod, a real fresh feeling is achieved. Just been scratching my head trying to figure out why and obviously you feel the same. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND FRESH IDEAS. WE NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU.
I've been asking around and it's likely that this mod can only achieve full power if it's loaded right before entering the Unity or before starting a new game. Any other moment will cause some of the changes not to occur. I'm currently struggling with some outfits not being changed although they should be.
This is the foundation for future mods down the road. Creation Kit has only been out for a few months, and we're already seeing AMAZING stuff. If the rumors about a "Starborn" DLC is true....maybe Bethesda will look into something like this.
This is the type of thing what makes the Multiverse/Alternate paths thing interesting.
Can you imagine characters in different locations? Like....what if the UCSysDef/Crimson Fleet characters were swapped.....or Constellation members were elsewhere? Walter's wife was the explorer? So many possibilities that were never explored.
