Thrace Kallarn Bio:
Born in 2274, Thrace Kallarn was raised in UC space in the wake of House Va'ruun's Serpent Crusade. Thrace had a troubled upbringing, his parents' careers forcing the young family to relocate worlds often. Struggling to fit in and often fighting against the authority of his mentors, Thrace grew increasingly antagonistic and withdrawn. He looked forward to finishing his studies, and seeking his own independence.
After completing his compulsory education, and feeling determined to find a stable profession, Thrace took on a mining apprenticeship on Mars. Here his resolve hardened, and in the following years he developed his skills and his character, discovering endurance and comradeship beneath the surface of the Red Planet, and within the asteroid belts of the Sol system.
With the Freestar's breaching of the Narion Treaty and the outbreak of the Colony War in 2308, Thrace (now in his mid-thirties) and many of his friends enlisted into the UC Navy, inspired by rumours of a newly formed elite Spec-Ops unit on Mars, comprised of former Martian 'Dusties'...
Across the battlefields of the Settled Systems, Thrace experienced his trial by fire, witnessing friend and foe alike perish in the flames of war. Against the backdrop of zero-G boarding actions, titanic mech assaults, xenoweapon charges, and naval orbital bombardments, Thrace quickly developed into an effective soldier - resourceful, and with keen instincts. While his talents were noted by his superiors, he was also well known for his quick wit, quicker temper, and obvious disdain for higher authority.
As the final months of the Colony War approached, and in the face of public outcry and imminent defeat, the UC High Command grew increasingly desperate, selling the lives of UC troops dearly to try and break the stalemate.
Kallarn, now ranked Lieutenant, received orders to commit his unit to an unsupported infantry assault on a heavily fortified Freestar mech factory, following weeks of gruelling and costly trench warfare. Tantamount to suicide for both himself and his squad, Thrace refused. Following a heated altercation with his commander, Thrace was arrested, charged with disobeying a direct order and striking a superior officer.
Spared from a military firing squad, perhaps thanks only to the timely ending of the war following the defeat at Cheyenne, Kallarn was instead dishonourably discharged. With few surviving friends, and seemingly nowhere to go, he quickly fell back on his years of mining experience. Thrace contracted with a number of companies, his Mars-red eyes assuring any prospective employers of his veterancy of the Martian deep mines.
Spending the next two decades once again travelling through the Settled Systems, Thrace trusted few people into his confidence, often remaining distant and detached, kept company only by haunting memories of lost friends and ravaged worlds.
The year is now 2330. While you are beginning to feel the effects of your advancing years, 'Argos Extractors' have offered Thrace a lucrative new contract, and have shipped you to the moon of Vectera in the Narion system. Your new supervisor, a woman called Lin, seems to not quite appreciate your years of experience, but nevertheless appears both competent and trustworthy. You meet her and your new colleague, Heller, at the top of the main shaft elevator, ready for another day.
And here is where your story continues...
