This is an astoundingly good mod... but I should mention that I'm using the 0.2.1 version since the 0.2.2 crashes my game when I reenter the ship after spacewalking.
I have several mods which do things like rotate landing bays or add variants and so far the button to spacewalk is showing up just fine in the correct orientation as well.
With polish, this could become one of the most popular Starfield mods ever.
This looks awesome and I'm going to play around with it for a bit. I often tweak mods to suit my own tastes, and this one already has the core of what I'm looking for.
aDebaser, my thought is you might want to make this more modular. Tons of people, myself included, are just wanting a simple spacewalk mod where you can leave your ship and fly around, and not have to do it with janky console commands. I think if you had JUST that in an .esm, and maybe with the ability to mine asteroids in person and use a rivet gun on the hull to repair the ship instead of using ship parts from the cockpit, THAT would be a darn near perfect mod right there.
The alterations to the ship damage system are what is turning off a lot of people to this mod. I don't think they're necessarily a bad thing but the idea needs to be tweaked and streamlined. So my recommendation would be to have that stuff as a second .esm module separate from the base spacewalk/mining/fix hull directly mod.
I REALLY like the mechanic of pushing the metal plates around... I'm just not sure exactly where I see that fitting in ATM. Maybe the game needs a ship armor mechanic and this could be part of repairing the armor plates. It would be a sweet alternative to shields that would allow for stealth, but at the cost of more mass and periodic armor plating maintenance.
Anyways, I will tinker around with this and if I have any deep thoughts I'll post some feedback.
My plan is to try the mod possibly without some of the modified script files to see if I can get the basic features without damage modifications that I want.
Oh, I will mention that the reason I found this mod was that I was looking for a mod that allows you to leave your ship and board other ships even during combat. There's nothing like this at the moment that I can see, but it's on my eventual wishlist.
I'd love to be able to stealth up to an Eclipse ship, leave my ship, hack their airlock, and take over their ship without them even realizing that I was there.
I highly agree. This is such a nice addition to the gameplay, being able to spacewalk and to repair the ship, but using the tool directly on parts the ship would be so much more satisfying than pushing around debris.
Double the idea of "using the tool directly on parts". It could be not a minigame at all. Or it could use ship parts instead so I take Arc with me and Ship Parts.
It also could use no recoil craftable Arc or Impact Driver would do also
Love the idea but the mod is a bit unstable with all the black screens and the fact that your ship health ticks down every jump is annoying.
Ive decided to deactivate the mod and so far everything is gone as expected except the ship health thing. every time i grav jump one random module (engines, laser, shield...) randomly looses 2 hp and starts repairing. has anyone an idea how to fix this? it only happens on the one ship that i used witht this mod installed
yeah about that tried fixing this for like 2 days, finally decided to ask for help here, fixed the issue an hour later.
For those that may have the same problem: you need to delete the files, especially the scripts. Those are called: DialogueShipServicesScript.pex (4.1 kB) SWAP_DamagedPartScript.pex (3.7 kB) SWAP_PlayerScript.pex (15.2 kB) SWAP_QuestManagerScript.pex (3.4 kB) SWAP_RotationScript.pex (1.1 kB)
My mistake was that i only disabled the mod in the creations menu but that only disables the esm

This is an early release. There will be bugs. Please report them.

Great mod besides that!
