This article will serve me, and the greater community, as a place for bugs, workarounds and QoL wislist regarding outposts, in particular related to building and storage. Crew and carg-link will not be part of this article (too much to be in same place).
The List:
1) storage containers are huge and store - very little
2) storage containers snap from mile away and that's annoying
3) there is no way to sort items automatically or in any smart way
4) containers will snap into huge monster towers, but you need to open each one by one to acces their content instead one having access to whole connected structures
5) contrary to 4), when snapping (from mile away) and then right/left clicking through available snap points, it will rotate through the whole snapped structure. We need exactly opposite, snaps should rotate through just the item being aimed at, and inventory access should be pooling the containers that are "touching" with snaps
6) when rotating through snap points we do NOT want to see illegal placements, if item has 3 snap points, and 2 are "taken" then only offer snaps on one remaining snap. Also if snap is "inside" the object and new object would snap "inside" parent object, skip that snap!!
7) give us hotkey to press to override or toggle snaps on/off, eg container snap from mile away, and you don't want to change that? Fine, let me oress IDK Shift while holding placeholder in "hand" and that disables snapping so I can place it completely manually
8) tell people that resources of destroyed item were returned to ship cargo hold so they don't think it was stolen, it gives message when going to inventory but not if ahipyis close and it's going there
9) allow some more clipping or one object into another
10) being back the "cut" landscaping/bulldoze functionality.
11) when item is built and rock/tree is removed, make sure tree doesn't regrow later eg through 10 meters of landing pad concrete foundation
12) be more forgiving when placing items on ground, collision error messages are annoying
13) make all max-height for automatic stairs and foundations way bigger, 12 is too little, we want 60! Otherwise building some items is impossible on mountains with the nice views
14) fix the darn lights, we have like 8 lights to build, all are ugly industrial looking, and half of them don't even shine light!
15) make more camera and building UI tweaks available through UI settings, eg camera height, angle, rotation speeds, etc
16) similar to snap hotkey toggle/override, add hotkey for rotation speed and mouse movement speed, so our default is relatively fast rotation, but pressing that hotkey while rotating slows down a lot so we can be precise
17) add grid system or rotation "snaps" where rotation would use some predefined angles like 0-45-90. So when manually placing stuff we can more easily place them at eg 90° corners one vs the other
18) allow moving whole snapped group, meaning, if I stack 20 containers and move with E key, then allow me to use again some modifier key like Shift+E where whole tower is selected. This will sometimes happen in error, so we know it's possible, just make it expected and intentional behavior
19) similar for delete, sometimes delete will just delete single item even if you delete from middle of stack, sometimes it will delete everything above it, sometimes it will even delete stuff below if snapped in weird ways. Add modifier keys, allow us to one-click delete everything that is snapped, or with different combo to delete just something from middle of the stack.
20) Build item, snap something to it. Game gives collision error. Move mouse a little or just go Q/T to switch item and return back, and now suddenly there's no error.
21) Try placing item on ground, collision error or something. Switch to another item that doesn't have error (Q/T style again), and back, and now no error and I can place.
22) Then there is situation when item will snap INTO another object, in clear collision, and game allows me to place it.
23) Now combining these together, aim somewhere, snapped item is in collision, then suddenly it says "OK", and you place it with "E" - but it is placed somewhere else (can be 4-5 meters away even) and will often be snapped inside the other object! Moving such object won't work, as even when moved elsewhere it will be "bugged", and whenever you try to add it to existing stack it will misbehave and snap "inside". I need to delete it completely and build a new one.
24) Moving one of the snapped items from the middle of stack (in height) will sometimes prompt rebuilding of foundation of item that was higher up on it, but that foundation can go through the objects existing below instead of stopping there
25) Foundation too high happens often, but in other cases when you build item on item such as mentioned container tower, removing lower objects will extend the foundation even over the limit
26) Removing snapped lower objects will sometimes leave higher placed objects flying in air
27) Objects without 2-click placement for foundation building will almost always complain about either collision or no support even on planet ground, etc.
28) (Wish): I really wish containers would show what they contain from the further distance
29) (Wish): I wish fabricators would show what they are currently making not only in "build-edit" mode but as well in "build-build" and in "normal" mode
30) (Issue): Build an item with lights. Could be a building or a walkway, whatever. Now, move that object using the builder interface. Could be rotate, drag, snap to another object, anything. Or even just delete them. Exit the builder. The lights are now totally detached from the object, often hanging in the sky, pointed the wrong way, etc. Workaround is to revert to previous save or delete the whole outpost. Sometimes they will get deleted on game reload, but not always.

I will be that sole tiny voice in the corner talking about outposts and its issues. I don't care about DLSS, FSR or city maps. Quests are pretty stable for me as well. But outposts...

20-50) there's many more small things, I keep forgetting them. Feel free to catch me on Discord if you want to chat ;D
Reference: I have spent almost 2 months playing and testing stuff almost exclusively in outposts.
P.s. Yes, I also mod, and I am mod creator, and my main mod is for outposts, but above points are pure vanilla issues, and are equally important with or without modding aspects. I fixed some of those myself, but not many people mod the game, and plenty simply hate outposts and avoid them just because of all these issues are so annoying that they just quit and give up and then avoid the whole outpost and base building aspects kf the game.
Tips and tricks I had to write so people would learn to work around the issues and be less annoyed: Tips and Trick article (Nexus)
Edit:
Oh and annoying ones...
- Build item, snap something to it. Game gives collision error. Move mouse a little or just go Q/T to switch item and return back, and now suddenly there's no error.
- Try placing item on ground, collision error or something. Switch to another item that doesn't have error (Q/T style again), and back, and now no error and I can place.
- Then there is situation when item will snap INTO another object, in clear collision, and game allows me to place it.
- Now combining these together, aim somewhere, snapped item is in collision, then suddenly it says "OK", and you place it with "E" - but it is placed somewhere else (can be 4-5 meters away even) and will often be snapped inside the other object! Moving such object won't work, as even when moved elsewhere it will be "bugged", and whenever you try to add it to existing stack it will misbehave and snap "inside". I need to delete it completely and build a new one.
All of this is possible to replicate in vanilla game just by using storage containers of different sizes... one of the simplest object of them all, with nice straight edges and symmetrical proportions.
Discord bug report (for archival purposes)
Platform: PC
Time/date: since release till today
Description of bug and any reproduction steps:
Snapping in outpost builder is anything but logical or helpful.
Points:
- game items snap from a mile away, special mention - containers
- iterating through snaps with mouse clicks will always rotate through all items but in no particular order, meaning a tower of 50 containers will snap through 100+ snaps
- game keeps showing placeholder snaps for places where it can't possibly build (collision with the "parent" it's trying to snap "into"), why not just skip those snaps as "taken" or "unavailable"
- placing item whos' preview was shown in correct place and no errors, after confirming with "E" key will just snap somewhere else, even if that other position is actually illegal (eg inside another object)
- moving one of the snapped items from the middle of stack (in height) will sometimes prompt rebuilding of foundation of item that was higher up on it, but that foundation can go through the objects existing below instead of stopping there
- foundation too high happens often, but in other cases when you build item on item such as mentioned container tower, removing lower objects will extend the foundation even over the limit
- removing snapped lower objects will sometimes leave higher placed objects flying in air
- objects without 2-click placement for foundation building will almost always complain about either collision or no support even on planet ground, etc.
Proposed workarounds:
- add toggle for snapping on/off
- add hotkey to temporarily override snapping
- add option or toggle to enable or disable "group snapping" or whatever it's called, if I aim mouse at single container in a stack of 30 storage containers, I want my snaps to rotate only between snap points available on that single container, not on whole group
- increase max foundation height for all objects to about 60+
- allow clipping with ground
Comments, rules
Please, leave a comment if you have something constructive to add. Don't repeat stuff, don't vote, don't bring out frustrations. Just add stuff I forgot.
Also please keep cargo-links and/or outpost crew issues out of this bug list, so we can focus on building mechanics first and foremost. Issues with items you can build (like storage containers) are acceptable.
Any sane comments will be added to the article's main list. All spam and comments breaking above rule will be deleted. Thanks for understanding!

Just look the crew perks for outposts, most have no effect and only 1 void rank.
It is clear that Bethesda delivered (as usual) the game urgently and "as it is". We will surely have a paid DLC which will finish the outposts part, we should not really count on bug fixes on the subject before that.
1) First main issue: Build an item with lights. Could be a building or a walkway, whatever. Now, move that object using the builder interface. Could be rotate, drag, snap to another object, anything. Exit the builder. The lights are now totally detached from the object, often hanging in the sky, pointed the wrong way, etc. The only way to fix this is to build the whole place, then burn the mats to delete and rebuild each piece in its final place one by one NEVER moving anything.
2) Add the crew workstation to an outpost so you can put crew there, then build some robots. If you accidentally delete the crew workstation, or delete a building it is attached to and it gets deleted, all those robots are now permanently stuck in your crew list and can never be removed, even if you build a new crew workstation and try to remove them.
These are massive game breaking bugs that were reported to Bethesda on day 1.
Last week after months since release...
Bethesda: "Here's a patch that breaks all your SFSE mods that does what wSkeever's mod already does to stop asteroids sticking to your ship." *sigh*
