you may find yourself alone on a friday night entering this post section on a mission to ask me a deeply important question: "hey jessie, are you ever going to add horses?"
the answer to this question is no. i'm so fucking bad at drawing horses that having to lay eyes upon my equine-themed art legally qualifies as a war crime. instead, i recommend CC's Unique Horses mod!
Hi there!! Absolutely love your mod, thank you so much for updating to 1.6!
I'm starting a multiplayer file with my friends, and I'm wondering if the randomization version of the mod works with multiplayer. I looked through the comments and couldn't tell if it was a single player exclusive. Just wanted to double check!
all of the manifests seem to be up to date, are you 100% sure you have 1.2.0? if you are, you can just ignore the smapi warning. things have been a little dodgy lately with all the updates so it might just be a false flag
unfortunately no! if you want to do that i'd recommend using the AT version, itll give you vanilla + my skins + any other skins from any other AT animal mod.
I'm sorry, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to apply the textures to the animals. I don't see scissors for sale by Robin, and the shears by Marnie do not work. I'm using Vortex to automatically install the mod as well as the content patcher and SMAPI. Please let me know if I'm missing something?
vortex often breaks mods, so I'd highly recommend installing manually instead. either way you're probably missing Alternative Textures and either need to download it or use the CP version of my mod instead.
Thank for the reply! I tried to download the CP version instead, but it also didn't provide the option to change. (love the Highland cows so much) I then tried to download and move them manually into the Stardew files, but the file types for the animal skins are xnb not png. I know I'm missing something obvious and I feel so stupid.
Hi siamece, I love your mod! I rewrote the Content Patcher version's content.json to take advantage of the skins feature in 1.6. This means that when you buy a new animal, one of your skins will be randomly selected without needing to use Alternative Textures (though you can still use AT to manually change the texture from the random one). I didn't test it extensively, but it seemed to work from my limited testing. I'm not sure the best way to share it, but here's a pastebin link with the raw text from the content.json. I'd be happy if you wanted to upload it so others can use it more easily. Thanks for your wonderful sprites!
oh wow this is awesome! i didn't even realize 1.6 added that as a feature lmfao gonna do some testing on it probably this weekend, but if all works out i'll go ahead and throw this up as an optional file! with credit of course :-) thank you so much, i could've banged away on a keyboard for 1000 years and still never managed to figure this out on my own
Cool! Just a heads up, I might do the same with Pet Facelift at some point so you're able to choose from your new pets without having to replace the vanilla ones.
Would you guys know if the "Skins" version can be used retroactively? Like, could there be a command or code or something that can randomize the skins of animals you've already bought (without having to use AT)?
Hello, I thought this was a good idea so I made a little mod that does just that. I may upload it to Nexus later, but for now it's on Github here. Just install it and it should randomly assign skins to all existing farm animals on loading a save. The mod can be uninstalled afterwards, though it shouldn't cause any problems if not uninstalled. Hope it helps!
Edit: I deleted the GitHub release, it's now on Nexus here if anyone needs it.
Tried to change my cow but it didn't worked, and a text saying it has no textures available for that season. i deleted the mod and downloaded it again, still no working, so i deleted alternative textures and downloaded it again, still nothing. So i don't really know what to do now.
Ok ok, so i deleted the file and downloaded the AT file. It's amazing, i can finally have the highland cow. So thank you for pointing out the problem. Amazing mod btw
Hi ! I love the look of the mod and was wondering if it is possible to have different animals have different textures ? (ie have both white and black sheep in the same barn for more variety)
