Hello there. I am having issues with getting pearls from this mod after 1.6. Here is what I've tested: Four blue chickens, five hearts maxed (hearts for pearls are 3 hearts) I set the chance to 1.0 which I believe is 100%. I've slept a week straight with the chickens have auto food. No pearls. I do not have auto grabber in their coop but I do have auto grabber in my other coop and barn they are not in. ___
Another test, got a baby blue chick. But the max hearts down to 1. Kept the percentage at 1.0. Raised the chick to a blue chicken, got the chicken to 1 heart. Played for two days at 100% chance and no pearl.
I've had the same problem. Two different blue chickens, 100% chance of an egg, automatic feeding and no autograbber, and no pearls. I thought it might be the golden animal cracker messing with things, so I got a new chick with no animal cracker, but still no pearls. I don't know if that helps narrow anything down!
I haven't had the chance to test, and I didn't do anything specific to test it, but if you find that it doesn't let me know and I'll see if I can attempt to find the source of the issue.
I'm just a bit tight on time atm due to a bit of a time crunch at work, so I haven't gotten to do much testing. :)
Alright, I ran a few tests over the course of about 10 days. I had two blue chickens, both at max hearts, plus an Autograbber in the coop, all before installing the mod. First few days, I left the settings on the default 10%. No pearls. I bumped the chance to 50%, went a few more days, still no pearls. I set it to 90% for a couple days, still no pearls. At this point, I removed the Autograbber. Next day, I found two pearls. I haven't yet put the Autograbber back, but I expect when I do, there will cease to be pearls again.
If you like, I can submit a proper bug report and include a SMAPI log, but my testing suggests an Autograbber in the coop will prevent any pearls from appearing. I don't have enough coding experience to be sure, but my guess is that the game is activating the Autograbber before your mod has a chance to run its check on whether any given egg should be a pearl. So the eggs get snatched up, and no pearls have an opportunity to replace them.
Same here, I just want to add my 'me too' to what ZorlockDarksoul said. I've tried this with 2 full-hearts blue chickens in a coop with an autograbber, cranked the % up to 80, left it about a week, but getting nadda, pearl-wise. So yep it seems to be the same issue the old special blue chicken mod was having.
My thought on this issue is the order in which things are done, if I remember how I coded it, was that onload of day the pearl would be created and the egg removed, or something like that... I don't know how the auto grabber works but it may have to look in the auto grabbers inventory after start of day and replace the corresponding amount of eggs with pearl. I hope this might help with the troubleshooting
I'd suggest making it so blue chickens lay regular (or blue) eggs (you could add compatibility to the mod that does blue and golden eggs and mayo), and the pearl is a rarer drop, like how rabbits and ducks have a rare secondary drop?
