If you see only part of the trader, snake etc, make sure this mod loads after any mod that replaces the same sprites, eg mods that recolor sand or change the camel sprite.
So sweet that you added a snakeless version for people who have a phobia. I myself don't have a phobia of snakes and love the original version you made, but it's just so nice of you to be willing to work with people who are. <3
I saw that! Xitaqa did a great job! The donkey is so adorable! TwT I truly can't decide which version I like more.
Still, I know some people get a bit touchy about working with others or don't want to change a design in order to be more inclusive, so I just wanted to say you're awesome for being receptive to it! You do deserve credit for that! <3
Aw well thank you! I have a kind of rule that I can't make everyone's wishes true, but I can help if someone is willing to put the effort in. It's always a gift to everyone if there are more inclusive options.
I absolutely love the hippie aesthetic, but i have a terrible phobia of snakes and can't handle even cute ones like this. Is there any way i can remove the snake, or revert to the vanilla camel? Like, if i made my own png or something and gave it the correct filename and just swapped it in the folder, is that possible? I know nothing about the modding process T_T
I'm sorry but you can only change the snake if you edit the png file itself. I wanted to get rid of the camel bc of the weird orientalism and i really like snakes.
Oh i agree with eliminating the weird orientalism for sure!
Is the snake in the same png as the hippie van? If i dont need anything more special than like GIMP or Paint, i can ask my husband to erase the snake and then i can put something in its place. Maybe some decorative potted plants or a chocobo or something.
this is happening to me too but i assume it has something to do with the daisyniko earthy recolor i use, so i'm gonna look into that and see if i can fix it myself. do you use any recolor mods?
I did read that someone else experienced that, and you plan to do an update at some point. Which is why when it randomly started working, no changes to installed files, I let the matter drop. I only came back because the other person commented to tell them it isn't necessarily the recolor.
I have this same problem, but it only happens when I use the desaturated version for some reason and they occupy the same space in the load order with no other mod changes. I'll try loading it later anyway just in case, but I'm not sure that load order is the issue for me. I'll report back if that fixes it.
desaturated one has not been updated so that's why it looks like that if there's a festival. Otherwise I'm not sure why you have that problem. "they occupy the same space in the load order" what do you mean by this? if there's a mod that edits the same sprite as my mod you need to load my mod after it.
I love this mod, I've been using it for nearly a year now I think? I was stoked when it was updated for 1.6! That said, out of curiosity, do you plan to update the desaturated sand version to include the added art for the Desert Festival? While I have been playing with VPR lately, I don't think it's too jarring to play with the Saturated sand version of this mod, so I understand if it isn't a very high priority!
In any case, thank you again for this mod! It's so cute, especially the snake! (Also, as a likely unintentional plus, since the game refers to the trader as a woman, it makes me happy to think of her as a woman not ashamed to have facial hair <33333)
If I go to the desert when the festival isn't happening it works fine but with the festival, the outer part of the shop is vanilla the shop I do have a screenshot of it but I don't know how to share it on this site.
Okay. It's a bit hard to do any quick fix without a picture. I will get to it when I actually get to play the game and see how it looks. Might take a long time.
thank you! personally I can't see anything immersion breaking but i will make an update sometime in the future for that christmas(?) deco version the 1.6 added.
I hope there is not anything specifically appropriating in the images? Like I know dream catchers would be one. I think with the american pop culture and games there's a really big chance that they contain some kind of cultural appropriation but I guess I have been naive about the 60's hippies too.

Also, the night market still has the old trader too.
