    First of all I would like to say that your mod is one of the best mods Ive been using thus far and I commend your work. You are doing a great job and its really good to see you asking for suggestions on improving it. I have a few ideas on your mod and some might be too hard to implement. But here goes I hope it helps you somehow

    For the New Mechanics:
    1) It will be pretty cool to add a Fishing Net to the game with a separate mini game mechanics to the fishing rod and that it will allow you to catch a number of fish in one throw. Adding that to your streak system is a pretty cool idea I think.
    2) Really would like to see a boat in stardew
    3) Any way you can implement iridium value on catches with crab pots?

    For the New Event
    1) You can put up a day or a month-long event that makes the value of fish or certain fishes in that regard increase. Works like a supply and demand system. It would really make players do fishing more if they can make really good money

    Could you redo fishing on the farm?
    Standard Layout: Be able to catch same fish/algae as Cindersap Forest Pond (at least in deep part of lower pond).
    Combat Layouts: Same fish as the Mt. Lake since it has very big/deep ponds.
    Foraging Layout: Same as Secret Woods since the ponds are more numerous but shallow; and the map has so much in common with the Secret Woods anyway...(The catfish could be in the deep zone only).
    Mining Layout: Same as the the Town and/or Cindersap Forest River since it's a river.
    Fishing Layout: All freshwater fish (minus Legendaries). It irritates me so much that a farming map dedicated to fishing has no fish variety...

    [Possible Bug] Only garbage catches after ~9:40 PM (Happened to me on Spring 14 of Year 1, started out in Pelican Town but held true no matter where I went. NOT raining.)

    1] Modify the fishing minigame to allow varying degrees of leniency, as a config option:
    1.1] Completely Forgiving: As long as you catch the fish, streak increments.
    1.2] Forgiving: As long as you catch the fish, streak does not zero out, but does not increment. (Same behavior as catching a chest then the fish.)
    1.3] Punishing: As long as you catch the fish, streak does not zero out, but does decrement if the fish slipped the bar.
    1.3.a] You might allow a config option to set how much the bar decrements if the fish slips the bar, default to like, 2-5 or so.
    1.3.a.1] Probably add some sanity-checking here to prevent the player from setting a ridiculous number like -100 and getting absurd streaks automatically.
    1.4] Unforgiving: Current behavior. If the fish slips the bar, streak zeroes out.

    2] Modify the fishing minigame so that if the treasure chest is under the fishing bar when the fish is captured, the treasure chest is automatically captured as well. (I've lost streak a few times because the fish moved up to the chest and let itself be captured before the chest was.)

    3] "Any Fish" dishes would be nice if, instead of being a set recipe that comes out exactly the same whether you use a snail or The Legend, they were a multiplier to the included fish's original energy/health/cost value, and inherited the Fish's quality.

    4] Add a special tackle/rod (whichever is easier) that, when used, ONLY fishes up garbage/inert catches like algae and seaweed. (If you use a rod, you could add a special tackle to it that ensures only non-garbage inert catches (algae/seaweed) and one that only allows garbage.)

    5] Keep track of how many consecutive times trash is captured, and increase the odds of a fish catch?
     
    6] Modify the Fish Finder (Num9) so that it also displays the potential inert catches (IE, seaweed/algae/white algae)

      I just had another thought.
      7] Perhaps add streak to Fishing XP gains? Maybe full Streak, or half-streak, or 1/4th streak?
      7.1] Or make it a config option (with some sanity-checking/predefined options.)

      8] Perhaps print the current streak after all fishing catches, and/or make the fish-finder hotkey also print the streak (if you have one.)

      Wow, that's a lot of suggestions! When I have the time, I'll go through them and see which ones are possible now, before SMAPI 2.0 and the content framework I'm working on.

      Okay, here we go:
      1) Completely forgiving seems... too forgiving for sure. The other two new settings I like though. So basically Easy/Medium/Hard.
      2) I'll add this, I like it.
      3) I will not add this right now, but I'll look into it when I know how to.
      4) Interesting idea, I'll keep it in mind when my content API works (or if I choose to strip it down and use the item creation part alone)
      5) This goes back to me being able to override trash catches. When I find a way, I'll give this a try
      6) The fish finder isn't permanent. I'll be adding a fishing UI to make it easier to tell which fish you can catch (and trash)
      7) That's a good idea actually

      Thank you for your suggestions, and I'll come back to the ones I can't currently add when I have the ability to. I'll start working on #1 right now.

      Edit: #1 has become PerfectLostPunishment: a negative number results in losing your whole streak, and a non-negative number represents the amount you lose from your streak. Default value is -1.

      Edit: #2 will only give you the treasure automatically if you get a perfect catch and you're over the treasure.

      I will do the fishing UI when I have the time and I'm not tired. Thank you again for all of your suggestions! The next update for SDV 1.2 (version 1.3 of the mod) will have some of the suggestions in it.

      I can't seem to find the PerfectLostPunishment setting in the config. Is it somewhere else? Or has this feature been removed since you added it :c

    If it's possible, perhaps some kind of advantage or edge of some kind when you cast at maximum? In vanilla it's a bit of a let down to get the Max pop up but it having no real bearing on the fish you get at all. I think it has some bearing on treasure but not 100% sure. So maybe if you cast at max, it counts as a very precise cast so it's either easier, or maybe the fish are unaware by default, maybe even a one off gold or iridium fish depending on where your streak is. You could even have a max cast increase your streak, though that may be way too forgiving, depending on how often you manage to cast at max or not or if it's just a lucky bonus. Basically something happening when you manage to get a maximum cast sound like it could be neat.

    About #2: there is a potential problem with that.
     
    Sometimes the fish simply move up over the treasure chest, after you've already moved off the fish to capture the chest. If you had driven your fish-capture bar up high before going for the chest, the fish can be captured before the chest. If this happens, it breaks the streak, and is super-annoying, because you were screwed by the RNG. Your choices were to capture the fish, NOT get the chest, and lose the streak, or NOT capture the fish, NOT get the chest, and lose the streak anyway.
     
    That's why I suggested auto-capturing the chest if the fish was captured with the chest under the bar. To prevent RNGesus saying "screw you" by having the fish kamikaze the chest after you already moved the bar off it.
     
    Also, I kind of think if you perfectly capture the fish and the chest, it should print out a congratulatory message, just a little "Wow! Willy would be proud!" or something.
