I've been in 2 situations when black bars wouldn't go away after cutscenes:
First one was related to RSV when I got cutscene with Yuma telling me to visit Lenny. The bug would happen not after that cutscene, but after travelling to RSV with that cable car thingy, turning off cable car animation in RSV config fixed the issue. Before that Yuma event I didn't have this bug.
Second one happened after I skipped event with Willy in his house when he was talking something about business going poorly. It only happens when I skip the event. If I let it finish normally black bars disappear after the event.
I'm not sure whats causing the issue but maybe you could implement double checks for if event is done or maybe some debug configurable hotkey ?
Okay im 99% sure that this bug is related to event limitter. ( https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/10735 ) When events reach set limit for today and there would be another event that's being blocked by event limitter, black bars will still show up
Yeah, that mod would definitely cause issues. It cancels the event after GameLocation.startEvent has been run, while EventBlackBars does its checks before the method is run. I'll see what could be done here.
You previously mentioned that the bars wouldn't go away if you skip an event with Willy. Does that happen without Event Limiter?
I didn't backup save from that day sadly so I can't test it now + it happened once and I didn't try to reproduce it so I'm not even 100% certain about that specific case. I'll let you know if anything weird happens not related to event limitter.
I love your mod, it's weird that not many people appreciate it. Is there a way to make it so fog from mod Climates of Ferngill doesn't appear in front of black bars but behind them ?

On 1.6, it seems like the bars cover the skip button - it's still clickable, just hidden by them.
