Hi, before I get this mod I want to clarify one thing - does it reduce the XP given by harvesting a crop? I ask because if the XP you get from watering is just bonus on top of the XP from the base game, I'm going to level up farming a lot faster and that seems unbalanced to me. My ideal solution would be for watering a crop to give 1 XP each day and harvesting to give the Base XP minus the amount of XP gained from watering (ie the number of days the crop took to grow). That way you get the same amount of XP as in the base game but with a more even and fair distribution. Is that how this mod works? If it isn't, I'll offer it as a suggestion :) Regardless, thank you for sharing this mod with us and making our games better <3

the idea was that the majority of the players use sprinklers exclusively from the start of summer year 1 and never upgrade their watering can once. that was the thing I wanted to address (this mod does not give xp when using sprinklers). so now you can spend time to get a bit more farming xp, instead of using that time to level other skills. since farming already levels extremely fast, I wouldn't call it 'leveling up a lot faster', since you lose the time of doing other things if you had used sprinklers.
if I find the time, I'll add an option to reduce the amount of harvesting xp.
tonight or tomorrow. updates for all my mods were done for 1.6 alpha. I'm currently double checking and testing all my mods for 1.6 release. several things did break due to the new features, but so far all but one (my mushroom rancher mod) seem to be easy to fix. watering grants experience likely has zero issues, but I will focus on my more popular mods first
Hey, I want to install this mod to my game. But in the description you say it is optimal for a certain version of SMAPI. Can it now be used for the latest version of SMAPI?
Love the idea of this and that you added consequences for not watering. Would you consider also changing the out of season date to a "soft" expiry? Crops could get an increasing chance to wither everyday they are out of season instead of dying all at once.
thank you. that is an interesting idea. sadly I'm currently not working on this mod. I'll put it on my idea pile for when I return to stardew modding, but there is no set date for that
fiber seeds' description mentions "does not require watering." i figured it'd be alright but when i woke up one day to discover some of my fiber plants were dead after ignoring them for the # of days i set in the config i realized the culprit was this mod. fiber can still be watered even though the description says it doesn't need it. as for tea, it doesn't seem like tea can be watered at all so maybe it doesn't need to be excluded? still a great little mod
okay, I excluded fiber seeds and qi fruit. tea bushes aren't crops, so they can't wither anyway. fiber seeds are a strange one. the code has 'needsWatering' set to true for it, but it simply checks for it by id somewhere else to exclude it. I will probably report that as a bug to the devs because that is really error prone. thanks for the bug report!
this is one of the smallest harmony uses I have in all my mods. what did SMAPI update that this breaks but stuff like Forage Fantasy doesn't. I may find time to look at this, but I can't guarantee it. I'm not actively modding stardew valley right now
okay, I quickly asked the discord. the problem appears to be stardewhack (which is loaded right above my mod) which messes with other mods hooks.
also stardewhacks description has this notice in red "This mod and its dependencies do not work with SMAPI 3.12, due to a bug in Harmony 2.1 which won't be fixed. If you want to keep using my mods, please downgrade to SMAPI 3.11." and you are using SMAPI 3.12. that might also be the reason why your mod "Wear more rings" also errors because it depends on stardewhack.
also fyi, you also use Movement speed mod, Fix Animal Tool Animations, treespread (even though you are using my tappers dream mod, thank you, but I guess you don't want the seeds at all) and Harvest with Scythe which ALL also depends on stardewhack.
so I recommend either
following stardewhacks advice and downgrading SMAPI
waiting for an update to stardewhack
removing stardewhack and any mods that depend on it
removing my mod and "wear more rings" and just praying nothing else breaks (actually not recommended)

it workes with this mod as well, u can increase or lower the % exp as u want
