wow i feel so bad for forgetting to get back to you about this, but i've remodded stardew all this time later and when testing this out again, it worked fine!
I like the idea of this mod so I thought I'd ask, is there a way to make it so that instead of being married to them right off the bat, they're your bf/gf instead? It just makes more sense for me personally, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
I don't know if you've already thought of this, but on the first day of a new save you could just use CJB Cheats & CJB Item Spawner to set whoever you want to date's hearts to 8 hearts, spawn a bouquet, and give it to them. Boom, instant bf/gf.
But I totally understanding wanting a mod to make a bf/gf a preset thing! Just something to maybe think about if you haven't already.
Is this mod still maintained? Yep. The original author is no longer active, but I'm keeping it compatible with game/SMAPI updates and fixing critical issues. It's a "keeping the lights on" priority for other improvements though.
How do I get help / report an issue? Post a comment below! Please upload your SMAPI log and add a link to your message (even if you don't see any errors). This has useful info like what versions you have, which mods are installed, what happened in the game, etc.
Since I maintain many mods for other mod authors, I can't always answer every question here (often I'll be busy handling SMAPI or my own mods). If you can answer someone else's question, that's always appreciated!
I'm having issues with this mod marrying me to the wrong person. I've tested this five times and always ended up married to the wrong person. I end up married to the wrong person even when I only have two mods installed, this mod and SpaceCore. I am on the 1.5.5 beta.

When I tried it, he didn't appear when creating the save but he did after exiting and reloading the save. I assume that mod's changes aren't being applied correctly during save creation somehow (possibly due to a Content Patcher or SMAPI issue), so you can just exit and reload the save to do it for now.
im clicking 'accept' but it isnt working with any of the males? not sure if it something im doing since i have a male character or the mod? its also swapping the characters around so if i can accept it marries me to the wrong person.
That should be fixed in the upcoming Preexisting Relationships 1.0.2, which I'll be releasing next week. Let me know if it still happens when you get that update!
