I made an attempt to update this for SDV 1.6: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21900
The new version is a bit less feature rich, thought it will automatically convert all fish ponds to the smaller size, and no longer distinguishes between the larger and smaller sizes. I also did not implement all of the options for smaller fish ponds as I felt that fish ponds were already weak enough this isn't necessary. Hopefully it works for you!
I was just coming here to help spread the word of your new mod or version of this existing mod. Glad you already shared it. Thank you a lot I can't live without this mod. I still like some of those missing features namely their being two different kinds of fish ponds. But oh well beggars can't be choosers.

Its not identical but it was based on this mod, and it should be working ok. Its extremely new and may still have issues or bugs due to the update, so please report any issues you found. It seems to be working alright for me thought!
Hi, I really like your pond, I'm trying it right now and it seems to work properly, thanks for the mod! I translated it into Italian, if you are interested in adding the translation it is here: https://smapi.io/json/i18n/19b77148afd2467a909fc2b18ce2725b
i realise this mod is currently broken for 1.6 but just wanted to check, has everyone else's 3x3 ponds become 5x5 ponds with some glitchy overlap if they were near each other? I kinda dont want to touch them and just wait and see if this gets updated (or if anyone knows an alternative somewhere!) then hopefully an update would just put my glitchy 5x5s back to 3x3
Hi there. First off, great idea, great mod, works splendidly. I have 112 fishing ponds on my farm to have one for each and every fish in the game - plus RSV, ES, SVE and more. Neat.
And while everything seems to work just fine, I noticed a singular odd behavior I cannot explain. Might be a bug, might be a mod problem, a mod conflict, a general weirdness - no idea. That's why I'm leaving this comment here. I have a fish well for tiger trout. Put one in and F1 (mod-thing) said a new one would spawn in... 99.999 days. Well, that's oddly long. Maybe a bug, I thought, and moved on with my life. Next day? 99.998 days. Oof. So I put another tiger trout in, hoping it could maybe 'fix' whatever was going on. No other fishing well is having any issues whatsoever. They spawn new fish after 3 days and show as much when F1'ing. More added tiger trouts didn't change anything, though. 'Fine', I thought. And removed all. Choose a different fishing well. Put tiger trout in there. And it says... new spawn in 99.999 days. And it's not just a odd display for F1 - it really does seem to take that long. I'm currently sitting with that particular fishing well at 99.972 days. I mean. It's not a deal-breaker, ship-sinker, save-annihilator. It's more funny and quirky than anything else. But I still thought mentioning it might be useful, just in case there's a deeper, hidden issue at work.
TL;DR: (My!) tiger trout are so lazy, they won't even reproduce.
