For anybody else who had the same bug as me: I had been having a major problem with customizing the base swatches from this mod, because they would always revert back to the default base colour. Eg. tried to lighten the colour Turmeric into a more pale blonde, but it would always switch back to the default Turmeric colour.
The bug was caused by the FashionSense mod! So for anybody else having this issue, you'll have to uninstall FS (don't forget to delete the hand mirror before uninstalling) otherwise your hair will keep reverting to the og colour. If you're absolutely hell bent on keeping FS, then you'll have to either stick with this mod's base colours or reset the values with the hand mirror every 2 minutes ._. Hope this helps
Hello! When I installed this mod Smapi tells me it can be updated. When I came back to see if I installed the wrong version, I saw you mentioning that we just need to update the manifest file. I don't know where that is or how to do that. I'm completely new to all of this and I tried finding a video or a forum that could help, but I'm having no such luck. Could you please explain where I can find the manifest file and how do I change the version? :)
late reply. the manifest file is inside the mod file itself. It is named manifest and you can open with note pad. There are plenty of places that share how to find your mod files. So that's it. It's super super simple. this is a common error for mods that have been updated. It also doesn't hurt anything to just leave it.
Just keep in mind it only works for the vanilla base game hairstyles, and not any added in through mods unfortunately (even mods that add in the hairstyles of the npc’s). It also is not compatible with certain other mods that may affect hairs (such as Indie’s Female Farmer Overhaul mod… smapi won’t load either mod if they’re both installed).
To build on to what IntoxicHeart said, this mod only recolours the vanilla hairstyles, this is because this is a content patcher mod only for those hairs.
But no, you cannot replicate Haley's hair exactly, this is because the hair colour you choose goes above the hair shading that my mod recolours. This means that if you choose Haley's blonde colour as your hair colour, and choose the Haley Pink swatch from my mod, the two colours will dilute each other, as pink and yellow contrast each other. So, if you want the shading swatches to have their full colour it is best to set your hair colour to a colour that doesn't contrast the swatch or to white.
Haley's hair also has a different shading texture to the farmers hair.
I Love your colors look beautiful more than normal in game. Perfect colors. But can not use with hairstyle mod. I like Yuriyuri's hairstyles and CRABBIT's new hair... if you please re-color.
This is absolutely perfect! I've been wanting a way to get more vibrant hair and your mod was just the ticket! Now my character's hair looks like mine irl <3
oh wow i came here to ask this exactly, i was wondering if you could do one for like, truly white hair! The vanilla makes it look pretty gray lol and it would probably be useful as a base for people do do lighter colored hair in general. Thank you for making this mod!!
ALSO does it work on hair added by CP mods or just vanilla?
I’m so glad your enjoying my mod! No it doesn’t work on hairs that are not vanilla, you can see this if you look into the assets folder where there are only the vanilla hairs. About the white hair it would not look good as only white because the hair would have no values, but i could do a light gray?
Did you try and experiment with different methods? I am not sure it is possible, but I think that maybe if you applied a desaturation mask instead of replacing textures, it would become compatible with all hair maybe? In any case, thanks for making this mod :)

I looked into it and I'm not sure how that would work, because when I make these I add the mask to specific parts of the image, and when I export the mask alone it is just a clear image.
Sorry for the late response. This mod simply replaces the image in the hairstyles and hairstyles2.xnb with the same image but coloured in the different swatches shown in the "Swatches" image above. How this works is the image in the .xnb file goes underneath the RGB colour you choose for your hair when you create your character, but originally it is a dark grey (shown in the false swatch), and I wanted to change that!
To add on to what celeryicemelon said and explain it a different way: If you look at the Vanilla hair and compare it to the Sugar Apple swatch, you'll see Vanilla is more gray and has more obvious outlines, whereas Sugar Apple is whiter and has less obvious outlines. In game, you can still recolor the hair, but with Sugar Apple your hair will look 'softer' without those dark spots and obvious outlines.
On that note, thanks for the swatches, celericemelon! I really like the Sugar Apple one for making my hair properly white, which is why I used it as an example.
