Speaking as a farm kid who raised chickens for years: roosters will crow at the moon, they'll crow at midday, they'll crow in their house. If they think it will get them the attention they want, they'll crow whenever they want. I'm not sure where the whole "the rooster crows at exactly dawn" thing came from, but I sincerely and fiercely appreciate this author freeing us from that.
I have nothing against the sound itself and I'm well aware of countryside living, I just found it to be much too loud in comparison to the other sound effects.
