I was able to get this working by using old versions of SMAPI and the mod dependencies. Unfortunately, if you want to use other mods then this is going to be a hit or miss strategy. Getting whichever version was released in December of 2020 (or similar) is your best bet.

If you just want to use this mod, SMAPI 3.13.1 will do it along with:
    Expanded Preconditions Utility 1.0.1
    Json Assets 1.7.1
    Level Extender 1.5.3
    SpaceCore 1.5.1

I had used this mod with previous Stardew Valley updates and loved it, so it's a shame to see it is broken. It would be great if it was either updated, or at the very least, made open-source so that someone else could keep it functional.

This mod is broken. Needs to be updated to work again.
[Extreme Fishing Overhaul] This mod failed in the GameLoop.SaveLoaded event. Technical details:
Failed loading type 'SpaceShared.APIs.JsonAssetsAPI': TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'SpaceShared.APIs.JsonAssetsAPI' from assembly 'JsonAssets, Version=1.10.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
       at ExtremeFishingOverhaul.ModEntry.OnSaveLoaded(Object sender, SaveLoadedEventArgs e)
       at StardewModdingAPI.Framework.Events.ManagedEvent`1.Raise(TEventArgs args) in SMAPI\Framework\Events\ManagedEvent.cs:line 101

Fails on launch, loading a save, starting a new game. Something has changed in SpaceCore or JSON Assets that has broken this mod. Please dev update. (I believe this mod has be re uploaded from a previous developer as I remember playing it years ago. So not sure if the current developer actually has the technical ability to fix.

Currently I am level 6 and several fish of this mod have already appeared, but I couldn't help but realize how "broken" the mod is, let me explain: at level 4 I have unlocked a certain type of fish that, for example, its gold quality sells for 45 gold and is easy to catch, but literally at level 2 I unlocked a fish that sells for about 35 gold in gold quality and was practically as difficult to catch as a Super Cucumber. What is the use of such difficult fish appearing with such a low level of fishing and that they are very cheap on top of it?

I thought that as your level of fishing increased (I have level extender), more difficult fish would appear, but from level two you get stupidly difficult fish that are sold very cheap. The mod just looked very good, but I have understood absolutely nothing about why it works this way (I just can't find a logical explanation for it).

If the new fish that appear are very difficult but they sell well, I would understand, but it is that a quality silver sardine sells better than some of these fish that have the same difficulty as a Super Cucumber and they sell for very little.

I go back simply to say that this mod is in dire need of changes or just a more extensive config. I am level 10 and the fish in this mod that appear are incredibly difficult (some more than a Super Cucumber) and sell for only 100 gold (and they are iridium quality).

I have changed in the config the maximum fishing level to 10 (from 100 by the Level Extender) and I have activated the maxLevOverride to true so that it doesn't return to level 100, I have reduced the amount of fish that appear and even then fish continue to appear incredibly difficult and incredibly poorly sold.

I had expectations in this mod since the one from Teh's Fishing Overhaul has been abandoned by its creator (it's not that this mod is being very careful either), but I'm going to have to uninstall it because of how bad it works at least for me, I don't know if it will be the seed (I have the 6655) or something.

I hope one day these issues will be fixed (in addition to, as one person commented, there are some fish names that are far outside the Stardew Valley mood).

Is there any possibility to mod the list of appearing fish in the game?
Ive been liking this mod a lot because of all the variety, but Ive gotten a few fish that had names that I dont neccessarily want to read in a game thats supposed to be a happy-place.
For example the kind of fish with the words "Raping" or "Racist" in their name both trigger actual bad memories as assault victim and I just wouldnt want to be confronted with these things in a peaceful game like SDV, or if I was to play it with minors like my cousins.
Is there any chance you would ever release a "safe" version of this mod? I get that its probably a lot of work so if not, Id even do it myself if theres any way to edit the files. Still very much love the effort put into this!

How exactly does this mod work?

I am using it together with level extender. I am still level 1 in fishing, but I have set in the config that 2000 new fish will appear. What are 2000 new fish supposed to mean? Will that make if for example I want a Tuna, it will be more difficult for me to get one since many other types of fish may appear? Or how often do they appear? 2000 new fish seems to me an incredibly large number, but that not one has come out yet seems strange to me (although I am level 1, we are talking about 2000 fish).

I haven't had any errors in the console with any mod, so I was just wondering how exactly this mod works, since in the description of this page it simply says that up to 3000 new fish appear in different locations and seasons, but it doesn't specify if it will reduce the percentage of vanilla fishes, how often the new fishes appear, when you will find the first ones (if it requires a minimum level), etc.

And by the way, thank you very much for the mod. Teh's Fishing Overhaul was the only mod that made fishing fun, and since it's out of date with the new 1.5 fish and magic bait I can't use it, but this mod looks fun (if I can understand how it works).

I noticed this includes a couple of files with TehPers, in the name. Does this need Teh Pers Fishing Overhaul, or does this provide the functionality that that one did (for example, if another mod requires Teh Pers Fishing Overhaul, will this cover that requirement??)

We are in the process of merging with Teh's Fishing Overhaul with EFO, please don't use Teh's overhaul as it may cause issues.

The fishing bar is too small right now and will be reworked in the large update to Level Extender releasing later today. Also including experience bars!
