And you can give a little specific description of how the mod works, so as not to swing the cat in the bag. I don't like the original fishing, and not everyone likes fishing mods.
As a small update I am going to be trying to create different language versions of these, sorry to everyone it took me a while to do that. I had been busy with life.
Little PSA for everyone: the mod works perfectly, BUT if you play in another language that is NOT English, you have to rename the downloaded file as the one corresponding to YOUR language, and replace that file, not "Fish.xnb".
I.e. I play the game in Spanish, so I had to replace the file "Fish.es-ES.xnb", as that is the file my game uses. If I replace "Fish.xnb", nothing changes, because the game only uses that file while running in English.
Always remember to backup any original files, never replace them altogether. This will take away a lot of pain from your life in case something goes south. (I always rename the original files as "[File name]_ORIGINAL.ext", so it is obvious which is the one, lol)
I took a glance at "see contents" and the mod just replaces the fish.xnb with another. So it probably just ignores those.
Pst. If you dare to touch the content.json-files, the fish difficulty is simply indicated as a number after the fish name: "128": "Pufferfish/80/floater/1/36/1200 1600/summer/sunny/690 .4 685 .1/4/.3/.5/0/Pallokala", (example taken from my Finnish translation file). The number directly after the fish name (here the "80" after the Pufferfish) gives the difficulty. Larger number, harder fish.
So far it only works for Vanilla fish, may try to get it working for mods later. this really just my first steps into modding, so start small but keep working at it you know. :D
More New Fish has a new configuration in the config.json that you can make fish easier to catch just enable “EasyFishing”: “true” and you’re good to go Also, I advise the author to try and learn content patcher, it’s pretty simple and you can make the same edits with having to replace the original game files, if you want I can give you some tips and indicate the right direction
I also encourage the mod author to look into Content Patcher. I was excited to try this out until I saw it's an XNB mod, which is an outdated way of modding SDV. The Content Patcher documentation starts here.
